Are you Muslims? They said, Yes. Thereupon he said: Its sale and purchase and its trade are not permissible. They then asked him about Nabidh and he said: Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out on a journey and then came back and some persons amongst his Companions prepared Nabidh for him in green pitcher, hollow stump and gourd. He commanded it to be thrown away, and it was done accordingly. He then ordered them (to prepare it.) in a waterskin and it was prepared in that by steeping raisins in water, and it was prepared in the night. In the morning he drank out of that and on that day and then the next night, and then on the next day until the evening. He drank and gave others to drink. When it was morning (of the third night) he commanded what was left of that to be thrown away.

[Machine] "So if it is not permissible to sell it, buy it, or engage in commerce with it for a Muslim, then the one who does that among them is like the example of the Children of Israel who were forbidden from consuming fat, so they sold it and consumed its wealth. Then they asked him about coloring. Ibn Abbas said, 'What is this coloring that you are asking about?' They said, 'This is grapes that are cooked and put into the container.' He said, 'What is the container?' They said, 'It is a small clay pot.' He said, 'Does it intoxicate?' They said, 'When there is more of it, it intoxicates.' He said, 'Then every intoxicant is forbidden.' Then they asked him about wine. He said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went on a journey and returned, and some of his companions had prepared wine in leather skins, gourds, and pitchers. He ordered them to pour it out, and he ordered a ditch to be dug, and it was poured into it along with raisins and water. So he used to leave it overnight and drink from it during his day and night, until the next day, and from the morning until the evening, and when the next day came, he would pour out whatever was left.'"
