It is no good for Fatima to make mention of it, i. e. her statement:" There is no lodging and maintenance allowance (for the divorced women)."

تَعْنِي قَوْلَهَا لاَ سُكْنَى وَلاَ نَفَقَةَ

The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Al Sha’bi through a different chain of narrators. This version has “The husband of Fathima daughter of Qais pronounced her triple divorce. The Prophet ﷺ did not allow her to have maintenance and dwelling.”

أَنَّ زَوْجَهَا طَلَّقَهَا ثَلاَثًا فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ نَفَقَةً وَلاَ سُكْنَى

"I heard Fatimah bint Qais say that her husband divorced her ttree times, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not say that she was entitled to accommodation and maintenance."

سَمِعْتُ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ قَيْسٍ تَقُولُ إِنَّ زَوْجَهَا طَلَّقَهَا ثَلاَثًا فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ سُكْنَى وَلاَ نَفَقَةً

Fatimah bint Qais said: “My husband divorced me at the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ three times. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'You have no right to accommodation or to maintenance.'”

فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ قَيْسٍ طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثَلاَثًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ سُكْنَى لَكِ وَلاَ نَفَقَةَ

"I heard Fatimah bint Qais say that her husband divorced her ttree times, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not say that she was entitled to accommodation and maintenance." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2035)

سَمِعْتُ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ قَيْسٍ تَقُولُ طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي ثَلَاثًا فَمَا جَعَلَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً

I was with al-Aswad b. Yazid sitting in the great mosque, and there was with us al-Sha'bi, and he narrated the narration of Fatima bint Qais (Allah be pleased with her) that Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not make any provision for lodging and maintenance allowance for her. Al-Aswad caught hold of some pebbles in his fist and he threw them towards him saying: Woe be to thee, you narrate like it, whereas Umar said: We cannot abandon the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of our Apostle ﷺ for the words of a woman. We do not know whether she remembers that or she forgets. For her, there is a provision of lodging and maintenance allowance. Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, said:" Turn them not from their houses nor should they themselves go forth unless they commit an open indecency" (lxv. 1). (Using translation from Muslim 1480n)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمْ يَجْعَلْ لَهَا سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً

[AI] My husband divorced me three times, so I went to the Prophet ﷺ. He did not provide me with a place to live or financial support. He said that providing a place to live and financial support is only for those whose husbands have the right to take them back. He commanded me to live with Ibn Umm Maktum, the blind man.

طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي ثَلَاثًا فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لِي سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا السُّكْنَى وَالنَّفَقَةُ لِمَنْ كَانَ لِزَوْجِهَا عَلَيْهَا رَجْعَةٌ وَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَعْتَدَّ عِنْدَ ابْنِأُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ الْأَعْمَى

"The Messenger of Allah forbade (eating) animals that had been taken as targets, the milk of Al-Jallalah (animals that eat dung), and drinking directly from water skins." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4448)

«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْمُجَثَّمَةِ وَالْجَلَّالَةِ»

Fatimah bint Qais said: “My husband divorced me at the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ three times. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'You have no right to accommodation or to maintenance.'” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2036)

فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ قَيْسٍ طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا سُكْنَى لَكِ وَلَا نَفَقَةَ»

أَنَّ رَجُلا طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ فَجَاءَتْ إِلَى النَّبِيّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لا نفقة ولاَ سكنى

[AI] The passage translates to: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had significant silence."

«كَانَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سَكْتَتَانِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah did not assign me a dwelling or provide me with sustenance.

«لَمْ يَجْعَلْ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً»

[AI] "I came to the Prophet ﷺ but he did not provide me with a place to stay or a means of sustenance."

«أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لِي سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً»

[AI] "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ but he did not provide me a dwelling or sustenance."

«أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لِي سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً»

[AI] My husband divorced me three times, so I went to the Prophet (PBUH) and he said, "There is no financial support or accommodation for you."

طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي ثَلَاثًا فَجِئْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «لَا نَفَقَةَ لَكِ وَلَا سُكْنَى»

My husband divorced me with three pronouncements and Messenger of Allah ﷺ made no provision for lodging and maintenance allowance. (Using translation from Muslim 1480t)

«طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي ثَلَاثًا فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمْ يَجْعَلْ لِي سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً»

[AI] That Fatima bint Qays was divorced by her husband with a final divorce. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no maintenance or accommodation for you."

أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ قَيْسٍ طَلَّقَهَا زَوْجُهَا طَلَاقًا بَائِنًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا نَفَقَةَ لَكِ وَلَا سُكْنَى»

My husband divorced me with three pronouncements and Messenger of Allah ﷺ made no provision for lodging and maintenance allowance. (Using translation from Muslim 1480t)

«طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي ثَلَاثًا فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً»

[AI] "My husband divorced me three times during the era of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , and then I went to the Prophet ﷺ to ask him about accommodation and financial support. However, he did not allocate any accommodation or financial support for me."

«طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي ثَلَاثًا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ السُّكْنَى وَالنَّفَقَةِ فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لِي سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةَ»

«أَنَّ زَوْجَهَا طَلَّقَهَا ثَلَاثًا فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً»

[AI] "Her husband divorced her three times and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not assign her a dwelling or provide for her." He said, "Her husband is Abu Hafs ibn 'Amr ibn al-Mughirah."

«أَنَّ زَوْجَهَا طَلَّقَهَا ثَلَاثًا فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَكَنًا وَلَا نَفَقَةً» قَالَ وَزَوْجُهَا أَبُو حَفْصِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ

[AI] My husband divorced me three times during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no dwelling and no provision."

طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً»

[AI] My husband divorced me three times, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not grant me a dwelling or provision.

طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي ثَلَاثًا فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً

"لا نَفَقَةَ لَكِ وَلا سُكْنَى".
