“We went out with the Prophet ﷺ and when we reached Al-Baqi’, we saw a new grave. He asked about it and they said: ‘(It is) so-and-so (a woman).’ He recognized the name and said: ‘Why did you not tell me about her?’ They said: ‘You were taking a nap and you were fasting, and we did not like to disturb you.’ He said: ‘Do not do that; I do not want to see it happen again that one of you dies, while I am still among you, and you do not tell me, for my prayer for him is a mercy.’ Then he went to the grave and we lined up in rows behind him, and he said four Takbir (i.e. for the funeral prayer).”

[Machine] On a certain day, they went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ carrying a funeral until they reached Al-Baqi'. He said, "What is this?" They said, "This is So-and-so, the freed slave of So-and-so." He recognized her and said, "Why didn't you inform me about her?" They said, "We buried her during the daytime while you were sleeping, and we didn't want to disturb you." So he got up, lined the people behind him, and performed the funeral prayer. Then he said, "None among you should die without my permission as long as I am among you. For indeed, my prayer for him is a mercy."

He asked about it, and they said, 'So-and-so.' He recognized her and said, 'Didn't you grant me permission?' They said, 'You were saying that you were fasting, so we disliked causing you harm.' He said, 'Don't do that. I will not know who among you dies unless you inform me. For, indeed, my prayer for him is a mercy. Then he went to the grave, and we lined up behind him, and he made four takbeers (saying "Allahu Akbar").

[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Al-Baqi' and he saw a new grave, so he asked about it and was informed. He recognized it and said, "Did you not inform me?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we thought it would grieve you, so we did not inform you." He said, "You should not do that. I do not know what will happen to any of you after I am gone, so whenever you come to a grave, send blessings upon the deceased, for my prayers will reach him wherever he may be." Then he approached the grave and prayed for him. We lined up behind him and he raised his hands four times. It was narrated from 'Amir bin Rabi'ah and Buraidah from the Prophet ﷺ.
