5.192 What was narrated concerning Prayer and prostration at times of gratitude

٥۔١٩٢ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي الصَّلاَةِ وَالسَّجْدَةِ عِنْدَ الشُّكْرِ

ibnmajah:1391Abū Bishr Bakr b. Khalaf > Salamah b. Rajāʾ > Shaʿthāʾ > ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Awfá

It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Abu Awfa that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two Rak’ah on the day when he was given the glad tidings of the head (death) of Abu Jahl.  

ابن ماجة:١٣٩١حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ حَدَّثَتْنِي شَعْثَاءُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَّى يَوْمَ بُشِّرَ بِرَأْسِ أَبِي جَهْلٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ  

ibnmajah:1392Yaḥyá b. ʿUthmān b. Ṣāliḥ al-Miṣrī from my father > Ibn Lahīʿah > Yazīd b. Abū Ḥabīb > ʿAmr b. al-Walīd b. ʿAbdah al-Sahmī > Anas b. Mālik

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Prophet ﷺ was given glad tidings that a need of his had been met, and he fell down prostrate.  

ابن ماجة:١٣٩٢حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ أَنْبَأَنَا أَبِي أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدَةَ السَّهْمِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بُشِّرَ بِحَاجَةٍ فَخَرَّ سَاجِدًا  

ibnmajah:1393Muḥammad b. Yaḥyá > ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Maʿmar > al-Zuhrī > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Kaʿb b. Mālik from his father

It was narrated from ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Ka’b bin Malik that his father said that when Allah accepted his repentance, he fell down prostrate.  

ابن ماجة:١٣٩٣حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

لَمَّا تَابَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ خَرَّ سَاجِدًا  

ibnmajah:1394ʿAbdah b. ʿAbdullāh al-Khuzāʿī And ʾAḥmad b. Yūsuf al-Sulamī > Abū ʿĀṣim > Bakkār b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Bakrah from his father > Abū Bakrah

It was narrated from Abu Bakrah that when the Prophet ﷺ heard news that made him happy, or for which one should be happy, he would fall down prostrate in gratitude to Allah, the Blessed and Exalted.  

ابن ماجة:١٣٩٤حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخُزَاعِيُّ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ السُّلَمِيُّ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ عَنْ بَكَّارِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَتَاهُ أَمْرٌ يَسُرُّهُ أَوْ يُسَرُّ بِهِ خَرَّ سَاجِدًا شُكْرًا لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى
