The clerk of Al-Mughira bin Shuʿba narrated, "Muawiya wrote to Al-Mughira bin Shuʿba: Write to me something which you have heard from the Prophet ﷺ ." So Al-Mughira wrote: I heard the Prophet saying, "Allah has hated for you three things: -1. Vain talks, (useless talk) that you talk too much or about others. -2. Wasting of wealth (by extravagance) -3. And asking too many questions (in disputed religious matters) or asking others for something (except in great need). (See Hadith No. 591, Vol. Ill)

أَنِ اكْتُبْ إِلَىَّ بِشَىْءٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَرِهَ لَكُمْ ثَلاَثًا قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah has forbidden for you, (1) to be undutiful to your mothers, (2) to bury your daughters alive, (3) to not to pay the rights of the others (e.g. charity, etc.) and (4) to beg of men (begging).

And Allah has hated for you (1) vain, useless talk, or that you talk too much about others, (2) to ask too many questions, (in disputed religious matters) and (3) to waste the wealth (by extravagance).

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ عُقُوقَ الأُمَّهَاتِ وَوَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَمَنَعَ وَهَاتِ

وَكَرِهَ لَكُمْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah has forbidden you ( 1 ) to be undutiful to your mothers (2) to withhold (what you should give) or (3) demand (what you do not deserve), and (4) to bury your daughters alive. And Allah has disliked that (A) you talk too much about others ( B), ask too many questions (in religion), or (C) waste your property."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ عُقُوقَ الأُمَّهَاتِ وَمَنْعَ وَهَاتِ وَوَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَكَرِهَ لَكُمْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ

(The clerk of Al-Mughira) Muawiya wrote to Al-Mughira 'Write to me what you have heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' So he (Al-Mughira) wrote to him: Allah's Prophet used to say at the end of each prayer: "La ilaha illalla-h wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul Mulku, wa lahul Hamdu wa hula ala kulli shai'in qadir. 'Allahumma la mani' a lima a'taita, wala mu'tiya lima mana'ta, wala yanfa'u dhuljadd minkal-jadd." He also wrote to him that the Prophet ﷺ used to forbid (1) Qil and Qal (idle useless talk or that you talk too much about others), (2) Asking too many questions (in disputed Religious matters); (3) And wasting one's wealth by extravagance; (4) and to be undutiful to one's mother (5) and to bury the daughters alive (6) and to prevent your favors (benevolence to others (i.e. not to pay the rights of others (7) And asking others for something (except when it is unavoidable).

كَتَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ اكْتُبْ إِلَىَّ مَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ إِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهْوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ اللَّهُمَّ لاَ مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلاَ مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ وَلاَ يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ وَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ إِنَّهُ كَانَ يَنْهَى عَنْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةِ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةِ الْمَالِ وَكَانَ يَنْهَى عَنْ عُقُوقِ الأُمَّهَاتِ وَوَأْدِ الْبَنَاتِ وَمَنْعٍ وَهَاتِ

Verity Allah, the Glorious and Majestic, has forbidden for you: disobedience to mothers, and burying alive daughters, withholding the right of others in spite of having the power to return that to them and demanding that (which is not one's legitimate right). And He disapproved three things for you; irrelevant talk, persistent questioning and wasting of wealth.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ ﷻ حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ عُقُوقَ الأُمَّهَاتِ وَوَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَمَنْعًا وَهَاتِ وَكَرِهَ لَكُمْ ثَلاَثًا قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ

Mu'awiya wrote to Mughira: Write for me something which you heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and he wrote: I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying. Verily Allah disapproves three thingq for you: irrelevant talk, wasting of wealth and persistent questioning.

كَتَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ اكْتُبْ إِلَىَّ بِشَىْءٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَرِهَ لَكُمْ ثَلاَثًا قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited disrespecting daughters and disobeying mothers, and he also prohibited preventing others from giving and receiving, spreading gossip and excessive questioning, and squandering wealth."

«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ وَأْدِ الْبَنَاتِ وَعُقُوقِ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَعَنْ مَنْعٍ وَهَاتِ وَعَنْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةِ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةِ الْمَالِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah dislikes three things from you: gossiping, excessive questioning, and wasting wealth. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made forbidden for you the burying of daughters alive, disobeying parents, and withholding what should be given."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ كَرِهَ لَكُمْ ثَلَاثًا قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ وَحَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَعُقُوقَ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَمَنَعَ وَهَاتِ

[AI] "That you write to me about something you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and there is no one between you and him. He dictated to me, and I wrote that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Verily, Allah has forbidden three things and has prohibited three things. As for the three things that Allah has prohibited, they are: false witness, false statements, and wasting wealth.'"

أَنْ اكْتُبْ إِلَيَّ بِشَيْءٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ أَحَدٌ قَالَ فَأَمْلَى عَلَيَّ وَكَتَبْتُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ حَرَّمَ ثَلَاثًا وَنَهَى عَنْ ثَلَاثٍ فَأَمَّا الثَّلَاثُ اللَّاتِي نَهَى الله عَنْهُنَّ فَقِيلَ وَقَالَ وَإِلْحَافُ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةُ الْمَالِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Beware of lying and being lied to, and of withholding and demanding, and of neglecting the rights of daughters and disrespecting mothers, and of wasting wealth.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِيَّاكُمْ وَقِيلَ وَقَالَ وَمَنْعَ وَهَاتِ وَوَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَعُقُوقَ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ

[AI] I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , then Al-Mugheerah invited me. He wrote to him, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say that when he finishes his prayer, he says, 'There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. His is the dominion, and His is the praise, and He is capable of everything. O Allah, there is no one who can withhold what You give, and no one can give what You withhold, and the true benefit is not from the one who appears to be a benefactor. And I heard him forbid backbiting, spreading gossip, excessive questioning, wasting money, maltreatment of daughters, and disobedience to parents, and from injustice and attacking others without a justifiable reason.

سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَعَانِي الْمُغِيرَةُ قَالَ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا انْصَرَفَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ اللهُمَّ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَنْهَى عَنْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَعَنْ كَثْرَةِ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةِ الْمَالِ وَعَنْ وَأْدِ الْبَنَاتِ وَعُقُوقِ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَمَنْعٍ وَهَاتِ

Muawiyah wrote to Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah saying: "Tell me of something that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He said: "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished praying, he would say: La Ilaha Illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulk wa lahul-hamd wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir. Allahumma la mani' lima a'taita wa la mu'tia lima mana'ta wa la yanfa'u dhal-jaddi minka al-jadd. (There is none worthy of worship except Allah ﷺ alone with no partner or associate. He is the Dominion and to Him be all praise, and He is able to do all things. O Allah, one can withhold what You have given and none can give what You have withheld, and no wealth or fortune can benefit anyone for from You comes all wealth and fortune.)'" أَنِ اكْتُبْ إِلَيَّ بِشَيْءٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ حِينَ يَفْرُغُ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ اللَّهُمَّ لَا مَانِعَ لَمَّا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ»

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah has forbidden for you, (1) to be undutiful to your mothers, (2) to bury your daughters alive, (3) to not to pay the rights of the others (e.g. charity, etc.) and (4) to beg of men (begging). أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ عُقُوقَ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَوَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَمَنَعَ وَهَاتِ وَكَرِهَ لَكُمْ ثَلَاثًا قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ»

[AI] That you write to me about something you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so he wrote to him: "I heard him say: 'Verily, Allah hates for you three things: gossiping, excessive questioning, and wasting wealth.'"

Ibn 'Ulayyah said, "Wasting wealth is spending it in an unjust manner."

أَنِ اكْتُبْ إِلَيَّ بِشَيْءٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ «إِنِّي سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَرِهَ لَكُمْ ثَلَاثًا قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ» قَالَ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ «إِضَاعَةُ الْمَالِ إِنْفَاقُهُ فِي غَيْرِ حَقِّهِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah dislikes for you gossiping, spreading rumors, excessive questioning, and wasting wealth."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَرِهَ لَكُمْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ»

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ عُقُوقَ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَوَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَمَنَعَ وَهَاتِ وَكَرِهَ لَكُمْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ»

[AI] "From the Prophet ﷺ who said: Indeed, Allah dislikes excessive speech, excessive questioning, wasting wealth, mistreating daughters, disrespecting mothers, and withholding and refusing."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ» اللهَ تَعَالَى كَرِهَ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ وَنَهَى عَنْ وَأْدِ الْبَنَاتِ وَعُقُوقِ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَمَنَعَ وَهَاتِ

[AI] That he write to me something from the sayings of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ . So he wrote to him, "Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , seek refuge in three things: disobedience to mothers, ill treatment of daughters, and withholding and giving away. And I heard him forbid three things: backbiting, spreading rumors, wasting wealth, and excessive asking. And I heard him say, 'O Allah, there is no one who can prevent what You have given, and no one can give what You have prevented, and the efforts of a beggar are of no use against You.'"

أَنِ اكْتُبْ إِلَيَّ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ حَدِيثِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ مِنْ عُقُوقِ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَمِنْ وَأْدِ الْبَنَاتِ وَمِنْ مَنَعَ وَهَاتِ « وَسَمِعْتُهُ» نَهَى عَنْ ثَلَاثٍ عَنْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَإِضَاعَةِ الْمَالِ وَكَثْرَةِ السُّؤَالِ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ»

[AI] That he write to me about something he heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he wrote to him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade speaking ill of others, excessive questioning, wasting wealth, disrespecting mothers, burying alive female infants, and withholding and refusing.

أَنِ أَكْتُبْ إِلَيَّ بِشَيْءٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «نَهَى عَنْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةِ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةِ الْمَالِ وَعَنْ عُقُوقِ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَوَأْدِ الْبَنَاتِ وَمَنَعَ وَهَاتِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Beware of gossiping, spreading rumors, backbiting, insulting others, disrespecting mothers, neglecting daughters, and wasting wealth."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِيَّاكُمْ وَقِيلَ وَقَالَ وَمَنَعَ وَهَاتِ وَعُقُوقَ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَوَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited three things: disrespecting mothers, burying daughters alive, and withholding what is needed. He also forbade spreading rumors, excessive questioning, and wasting money.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حَرَّمَ ثَلَاثًا عُقُوقَ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَوَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَمَنَعَ وَهَاتِ وَنَهَى عَنْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةِ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةِ الْمَالِ

[AI] He heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and wrote to him: He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Indeed, Allah dislikes for you three things: disrespecting mothers, burying daughters alive, and preventing what should be given (to others), spreading rumors and excessive asking for things, and wasting wealth."

سَمِعَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ» اللهَ ﷻ كَرِهَ لَكُمْ ثَلَاثًا عُقُوقَ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَوَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَمَنَعَ وَهَاتِ وَقِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah has forbidden for you, (1) to be undutiful to your mothers, (2) to bury your daughters alive, (3) to not to pay the rights of the others (e.g. charity, etc.) and (4) to beg of men (begging). And Allah has hated for you (1) vain, useless talk, or that you talk too much about others, (2) to ask too many questions, (in disputed religious matters) and (3) to waste the wealth (by extravagance). "إِنَّ الله ﷻ حَرَّمَ عَليكمْ عُقُوق الأُمَّهاتِ، ووَأُدَ الْبَنَاتِ، ومَنَعَ وَهاتِ، وَكَره لكُمْ قِيلَ وَقال، وكثْرَةَ السؤالِ، وإضاعَةَ الْمَالِ ".

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah has forbidden for you, (1) to be undutiful to your mothers, (2) to bury your daughters alive, (3) to not to pay the rights of the others (e.g. charity, etc.) and (4) to beg of men (begging).
