ذِكْرُ اسْمِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ الَّذِي، قَالَ لِلْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ مَا وَصَفْنَا

Abu Bakr spoke (expressing his own views), but he (the Holy Prophet) did not pay heed to him. Then spoke 'Umar (expressing his views), but he (the Holy Prophet) did not pay heed to him (too). Then Sa'd b. 'Ubada stood up and said: Messenger of Allah, you want us (to speak). By God in Whose control is my life, if you order us to plunge our horses into the sea, we would do so. If you order us to goad our horses to the most distant place like Bark al-Ghimad, we would do so. The narrator said: Now the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called upon the people (for the encounter). So they set out and encamped at Badr. (Soon) the water-carriers of the Quraish arrived. Among them was a black slave belonging to Banu al-Hajjaj. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ caught him and interrogated him about Abu Sufyan and his companions. He said: I know nothing about Abu Sufyan, but Abu Jahl, Utba, Shaiba and Umayya b. Khalaf are there. When he said this, they beat him. Then he said: All right, I will tell you about Abu Sufyan. They would stop beating him and then ask him (again) about Abu Sufyan. He would again say', I know nothing about Abu Sufyan, but Abu Jahl. 'Utba, Shaiba and Umayya b. Khalaf are there. When he said this, they beat him likewise. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing in prayer. When he saw this he finished his prayer and said: By Allah in Whose control is my life, you beat him when he is telling you the truth, and you let him go when he tells you a lie. The narrator said: Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: This is the place where so and so would be killed. He placed his hand on the earth (saying) here and here; (and) none of them fell away from the place which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had indicated by placing his hand on the earth.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ شَاوَرَ حِينَ بَلَغَهُ إِقْبَالُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ قَالَ فَتَكَلَّمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ تَكَلَّمَ عُمَرُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَقَامَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ فَقَالَ إِيَّانَا تُرِيدُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ أَمَرْتَنَا أَنْ نُخِيضَهَا الْبَحْرَ لأَخَضْنَاهَا وَلَوْ أَمَرْتَنَا أَنْ نَضْرِبَ أَكْبَادَهَا إِلَى بَرْكِ الْغِمَادِ لَفَعَلْنَا قَالَ فَنَدَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ النَّاسَ فَانْطَلَقُوا حَتَّى نَزَلُوا بَدْرًا وَوَرَدَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ رَوَايَا قُرَيْشٍ وَفِيهِمْ غُلاَمٌ أَسْوَدُ لِبَنِي الْحَجَّاجِ فَأَخَذُوهُ فَكَانَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَسْأَلُونَهُ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَأَصْحَابِهِ فَيَقُولُ مَا لِي عِلْمٌ بِأَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَلَكِنْ هَذَا أَبُو جَهْلٍ وَعُتْبَةُ وَشَيْبَةُ وَأُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ فَإِذَا قَالَ ذَلِكَ ضَرَبُوهُ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ أَنَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ هَذَا أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فَإِذَا تَرَكُوهُ فَسَأَلُوهُ فَقَالَ مَا لِي بِأَبِي سُفْيَانَ عِلْمٌ وَلَكِنْ هَذَا أَبُو جَهْلٍ وَعُتْبَةُ وَأُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ فِي النَّاسِ فَإِذَا قَالَ هَذَا أَيْضًا ضَرَبُوهُ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ انْصَرَفَ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَتَضْرِبُوهُ إِذَا صَدَقَكُمْ وَتَتْرُكُوهُ إِذَا كَذَبَكُمْ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ هَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلاَنٍ قَالَ وَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ هَا هُنَا وَهَا هُنَا قَالَ فَمَا مَاطَ أَحَدُهُمْ عَنْ مَوْضِعِ يَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ  

Anas said “The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ called on his Companions and they proceeded towards Badr. Suddenly they found the watering Camels of the Quraish, there was among them a black slave of Banu Al Hajjaj. The Companions of the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ seized him and began to ask “Where is Abu Sufyan?” He said “I swear by Allaah, I do not know anything about him, but this is the Quraish who have come here, among them are Abu Jahl, ‘Utbah, Shaibah the two sons of Rabi’ah and Umayyah bin Khalaf. When he aid this to them, they beat him and he began to say “Leave me, leave me. I shall tell you. When they left him he said “I know nothing about Abu Sufyan, but this is the Quraish who have come (here), among them are Abu Jahl, ‘Utbah, Shaibah the two sons of Rab’iah and Umayyah bin Khalaf who have come here. The Prophet ﷺ was praying and hearing all that (dialogue). When he finished, he said “By Him in Whose hand my soul is, you beat him when he speaks the truth to you and you leave him when he tells a lie. This is the Quraish who have come here to defend Abu Sufyan. Anas said, The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said “This will be the place of falling of so and so tomorrow and he placed his hand on the ground. This will be the place of falling of so and so tomorrow and he put his hand on the ground. And this will be the place of falling of so and so tomorrow and he put his hand on the ground. He (Ansas) said “By Him in Whose hand my soul is, no one fell beyond the place of the hand of the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ, The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ordered for them, and they were caught by their feet and dragged and thrown in a well at Badr.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَدَبَ أَصْحَابَهُ فَانْطَلَقُوا إِلَى بَدْرٍ فَإِذَا هُمْ بِرَوَايَا قُرَيْشٍ فِيهَا عَبْدٌ أَسْوَدُ لِبَنِي الْحَجَّاجِ فَأَخَذَهُ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَجَعَلُوا يَسْأَلُونَهُ أَيْنَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فَيَقُولُ وَاللَّهِ مَا لِي بِشَىْءٍ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ عِلْمٌ وَلَكِنْ هَذِهِ قُرَيْشٌ قَدْ جَاءَتْ فِيهِمْ أَبُو جَهْلٍ وَعُتْبَةُ وَشَيْبَةُ ابْنَا رَبِيعَةَ وَأُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ فَإِذَا قَالَ لَهُمْ ذَلِكَ ضَرَبُوهُ فَيَقُولُ دَعُونِي دَعُونِي أُخْبِرْكُمْ فَإِذَا تَرَكُوهُ قَالَ وَاللَّهِ مَا لِي بِأَبِي سُفْيَانَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ وَلَكِنْ هَذِهِ قُرَيْشٌ قَدْ أَقْبَلَتْ فِيهِمْ أَبُو جَهْلٍ وَعُتْبَةُ وَشَيْبَةُ ابْنَا رَبِيعَةَ وَأُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ قَدْ أَقْبَلُوا وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ يَسْمَعُ ذَلِكَ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَضْرِبُونَهُ إِذَا صَدَقَكُمْ وَتَدَعُونَهُ إِذَا كَذَبَكُمْ هَذِهِ قُرَيْشٌ قَدْ أَقْبَلَتْ لِتَمْنَعَ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ قَالَ أَنَسٌ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ هَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلاَنٍ غَدًا وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ وَهَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلاَنٍ غَدًا وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ وَهَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلاَنٍ غَدًا وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا جَاوَزَ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ عَنْ مَوْضِعِ يَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرَ بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأُخِذَ بِأَرْجُلِهِمْ فَسُحِبُوا فَأُلْقُوا فِي قَلِيبِ بَدْرٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ شَاوَرَ حَيْثُ بَلَغَهُ إِقْبَالُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ قَالَ فَتَكَلَّمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ تَكَلَّمَ عُمَرُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ إِيَّانَا يُرِيدُ رَسُولُ اللهِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ أَمَرْتَنَا أَنْ نُخِيضَهَا الْبِحَارَ لَأَخَضْنَاهَا وَلَوْ أَمَرْتَنَا أَنْ نَضْرِبَ أَكْبَادَهَا إِلَى بِرْكِ الْغِمَادِ لَفَعَلْنَا قَالَ عَفَّانُ قَالَسُلَيْمَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الغْمَادِ فَنَدَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ النَّاسَ فَانْطَلَقُوا حَتَّى نَزَلُوا بَدْرًا وَوَرَدَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ رَوَايَا قُرَيْشٍ وَفِيهِمْ غُلَامٌ أَسْوَدُ لِبَنِي الْحَجَّاجِ فَأَخَذُوهُ وَكَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَسْأَلُونَهُ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَأَصْحَابِهِ فَيَقُولُ مَا لِي عِلْمٌ بِأَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَلَكِنْ هَذَا أَبُو جَهْلِ بْنُ هِشَامٍ وَعُتْبَةُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ وَشَيْبَةُ وَأُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ فَإِذَا قَالَ ذَاكَ ضَرَبُوهُ فَإِذَا ضَرَبُوهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ أَنَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ هَذَا أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فَإِذَا تَرَكُوهُ فَسَأَلُوهُ قَالَ مَا لِي بِأَبِي سُفْيَانَ عِلْمٌ وَلَكِنْ هَذَا أَبُو جَهْلٍ وَعُتْبَةُ وَشَيْبَةُ وَأُمَيَّةُ فِي النَّاسِ قَالَ فَإِذَا قَالَ هَذَا أَيْضًا ضَرَبُوهُ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ انْصَرَفَ فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَضْرِبُونَهُ إِذَا صَدَقَكُمْ وَتَتْرُكُونَهُ إِذَا كَذَبَكُمْ قَالَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلَانٍ غَدًا يَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ هَاهُنَا وَهَاهُنَا فَمَا أَمَاطَ أَحَدُهُمْ عَنْ مَوْضِعِ يَدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ consulted the people on the day of Badr, and Abu Bakr spoke, but he turned away from him. Then 'Umar spoke, but he turned away from him. The Ansar said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you want from us?" Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad said, "O Messenger of Allah, by the One in whose Hand is my soul, if you command us to plunge into the sea, we will surely do so, and if you command us to strike their chests until we reach the deepest part of the earth, we will surely do so. So, what is your command, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah then drew closer to his companions and set out until they reached Badr. A group of Quraysh was there, including a young man named Aswad from the Banu Hajjaj tribe. The companions of the Messenger of Allah captured him and asked him about Abu Sufyan and his companions. He said, "As for Abu Sufyan, I do not have any knowledge about him, but the Quraysh, Abu Jahl, and 'Umayyah bin Khalaf have come." They began to strike him, and whenever they hit him, he would say, "Yes, this is Abu Sufyan." When they stopped striking him, they asked him again about Abu Sufyan, and he replied, "I have no knowledge about Abu Sufyan, but the Quraysh, Abu Jahl, and the Messenger of Allah are praying." Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hand and said, "I swear by Allah, if any one of them moved me from the place of a hand-span, I would not have left any of them alive." The next day, Allah granted them victory over the disbelievers, and I swear by Allah, not a single man from them moved the Prophet even the width of a hand. Then, the Prophet went out to them after three days, when they were in a miserable condition, and said, "O Abu Jahl, O 'Utbah, O Shaybah, O 'Umayyah, have you found what your Lord promised you to be true? For I have indeed found what my Lord promised me to be true." 'Umar asked, "O Messenger of Allah, you are calling out to them after three days, even though they are in this condition?" The Prophet replied, "I am addressing them because they are unable to respond.' Then, he ordered that they be dragged with their legs and thrown into a well at Badr.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ شَاوَرَ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ فَتَكَلَّمَ أَبُوبَكْرٍ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ تَكَلَّمَ عُمَرُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِيَّانَا تُرِيدُ؟ فَقَالَ الْمِقْدَادُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ أَمَرْتَنَا أَنْ نُخِيضَهَا الْبَحْرَ لَأَخَضْنَاهَا وَلَوْ أَمَرْتَنَا أَنْ نَضْرِبَ أَكْبَادَهَا إِلَى بَرْكِ الْغِمَادِ فَعَلْنَا فَشَأْنَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَنَدَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَصْحَابَهُ فَانْطَلَقَ حَتَّى نَزَلَ بَدْرًا وَجَاءَتْ رَوَايَا قُرَيْشٍ وَفِيهِمْ غُلَامٌ لِبَنِي الْحَجَّاجِ أَسْوَدُ فَأَخَذَهُ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَأَلُوهُ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَأَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ أَمَّا أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فَلَيْسَ لِي بِهِ عِلْمٌ وَلَكِنْ هَذِهِ قُرَيْشٌ وَأَبُو جَهْلٍ وَأُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ قَدْ جَاءَتْ فَيَضْرِبُونَهُ فَإِذَا ضَرَبُوهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ هَذَا أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فَإِذَا تَرَكُوهُ فَسَأَلُوهُ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَقَالَ مَا لِي بِأَبِي سُفْيَانَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ وَلَكِنْ هَذِهِ قُرَيْشٌ قَدْ جَاءَتْ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فَانْصَرَفَ فَقَالَ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَضْرِبُونَهُ إِذَا صَدَقَكُمْ وَتَدَعُونَهُ إِذَا كَذَبَكُمْ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدِهِ فَوَضَعَهَا فَقَالَ هَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلَانٍ غَدًا وَهَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلَانٍ غَدًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ تَعَالَى فَالْتَقَوْا فَهَزَمَهُمُ اللهُ ﷻ فَوَاللهِ مَا أَمَاطَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ عَنْ مَوْضِعِ كَفَّيِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَعْدَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ وَقَدْ جَيَّفُوا فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا جَهْلٍ يَا عُتْبَةُ يَا شَيْبَةُ يَا أُمَيَّةُ هَلْ وَجَدْتُمْ مَا وَعَدَكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ حَقًّا؟ فَإِنِّي قَدْ وَجَدْتُ مَا وَعَدَنِي رَبِّي حَقًّا فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ تَدْعُوهُمْ بَعْدَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ وَقَدْ جَيَّفُوا؟ فَقَالَ مَا أَنْتُمْ بِأَسْمَعَ لِمَا أَقُولُ مِنْهُمْ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُمْ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ جَوَابًا فَأَمَرَ بِهِمْ فَجُرُّوا بِأَرْجُلِهِمْ فَأُلْقُوا فِي قَلِيبِ بَدْرٍ

He (Ansas) said “By Him in Whose hand my soul is, no one fell beyond the place of the hand of the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ, The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ordered for them, and they were caught by their feet and dragged and thrown in a well at Badr. أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَدَبَ أَصْحَابَهُ فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى بَدْرٍ فَإِذَا هُمْ بِرَوَايَا قُرَيْشٍ فِيهَا عَبْدٌ أَسْوَدُ لِبَنِي الْحَجَّاجِ فَأَخَذَهُ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَجَعَلُوا يَسْأَلُونَهُ أَيْنَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ؟ فَيَقُولُ وَاللهِ وَاللهِ مَا لِي بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ عِلْمٌ وَلَكِنْ هَذِهِ قُرَيْشٌ قَدْ جَاءَتْ فِيهِمْ أَبُو جَهْلٍ وَعُتْبَةُ وَشَيْبَةُ ابْنَا رَبِيعَةَ وَأُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ فَإِذَا قَالَ لَهُمْ ذَلِكَ ضَرَبُوهُ فَيَقُولُ دَعُونِي دَعُونِي أُخْبِرْكُمْ فَإِذَا تَرَكُوهُ قَالَ وَاللهِ مَا لِي بِأَبِي سُفْيَانَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ وَلَكِنْ هَذِهِ قُرَيْشٌ قَدْ أَقْبَلَتْ فِيهِمْ أَبُو جَهْلٍ وَعُتْبَةُ وَشَيْبَةُ ابْنَا رَبِيعَةَ وَأُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ قَدْ أَقْبَلُوا وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ يَسْمَعُ ذَلِكَ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَضْرِبُونَهُ إِذَا صَدَقَكُمْ وَتَدَعُونَهُ إِذَا كَذَبَكُمْ هَذِهِ قُرَيْشٌ قَدْ أَقْبَلَتْ لِتَمْنَعَ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ قَالَ أَنَسٌ ؓ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلَانٍ غَدًا وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ وَهَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلَانٍ غَدًا وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ وهَذَا مَصْرَعُ فُلَانٍ غَدًا وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا جَاوَزَ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ عَنْ مَوْضِعِ يَدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَمَرَ بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخَذَ بِأَرْجُلِهِمْ فَسُحِبُوا فَأُلْقُوا فِي قَلِيبِ بَدْرٍ  

"عَنْ أنَسٍ أن رَسُولَ الله ﷺ شَاوَرَ حَيْثُ بَلَغَهُ إقْبَال أبِى سُفْيان، فَتَكَلَّمَ أبُو بَكْرٍ فَأعرَضَ، ثُمَّ تَكَلَّمَ عُمَر فَأعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، فَقَالَ سَعْد بن عُبَادَةَ: إِيَّانَا تُرِيدُ يَا رَسُولَ الله وَالَّذِى نَفْسِى بيَده لَوْ أَمَرْتَنَا أن نُخِيضَهَا أنْبَحْر لأخَضْنَاهَا، وَلَوْ أمَرْتَنَا أَنْ نَضْرِبَ أَكبَادَنَا إِلى بركِ الغِمَادِ لَفَعلنَا فندب (* *) رَسُولُ الله ﷺ فَانْطَلَقُوا حَتَّى نَزلُوا بَدْرًا وَرَدتْ عليهم رَوَايَات (* * *) قُرَيْشٍ، وَفِيهِمْ غَلاَم أسْوَد لِبَنِى الحَجَّاج فَأخَذُوهُ، فَكَانَ أصْحَاب رَسُولِ الله ﷺ يَسْألُونَهُ عَنْ أَبِى سُفْيَانَ وَأصْحَابِه فَيَقُولُ: مَا لِى عِلمٌ بِأبى سُفْيَانَ، وَلَكِنْ هَذَا أبُو جَهْل وَعُتْبَة وَشَيْبَةُ وَأمَيَّة بن خَلَف، فَإِذَا قَالَ ذَلِكَ ضَرَبُوهُ، فَإِذَا ضَرَبُوهُ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، أنَا أخْبِركُم، هَذَا أبُو سُفْيانَ، فَإِذَا تَرَكُوهُ سَألُوهُ، قَالَ: مَا لِىَ بِأبِى سُفيانَ عِلم، وَلَكِن هَذَا أبُو جَهْل وَعتبَةُ وَشَيْبَةُ وَأمَيَّةُ بن خَلَف فِى النّاسِ، فَإِذَا قَالَ هَذَا أيْضًا ضَرَبُوهُ وَرَسولُ الله ﷺ قَائِم يُصَلِّى، فَلَمَّا رَأى ذَلِكَ انْصَرَفَ، قَالَ: والَّذى نَفْسِى بِيَدِهِ لَتَضْرِبُونَهُ إذا صَدَقكُمْ، وَتَتْرُكُونَهُ إذا كَذَبَكُم، قَالَ: وَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ : هَذَا مَصْرعُ فُلاَن - يَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى الأرْضِ هَاهُنَا وَهاهُنَا - فَما ماطَ أحَدُهُمْ عَنْ مَوْضِع يَد رَسُول الله ﷺ ".
