11. Book of Zakāh
the Messenger of Allah said: “Charity is not permissible for a rich person, or for one who is strong and healthy. ” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1839)
[Machine] Kanana said to him, "You are the leader of your people and they come to you with questions, but you do not give them anything." He replied, "As for this, I will not give them anything, and I will inform you about it." I took on the responsibility in my community, so I went to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and informed him, and I asked him to help me. He said, "Rather, we will take the burden off you, O Qabisa, and we will fulfill it for them from the charity's camels." Then he said, "Indeed, begging is only permissible for three people: a man who takes on the responsibility and it is fulfilled until he can deliver it, or a man who is struck by a calamity that destroys his wealth, so it becomes permissible for him until he finds a provision or settles his debt, or a man who is afflicted with extreme poverty, and three witnesses from his people testify that begging is permissible for him, so it becomes permissible for him until he finds a provision or settles his debt. Other than that, begging is forbidden."

I go back to my family and I find a date lying on my bed. I then take it up to eat it, but then I throw it away fearing that it may be a Sadaqa. (Using translation from Muslim 1070a)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, we are not allowed to accept charity while being rulers over the people."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was given a date from the charity dates, so Al-Hasan Ibn Ali took a date and ate it. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Kikh, kikh, charity is not permissible for us."

[Machine] I heard Abu Hurairah saying, "Abu Al-Qasim ﷺ was given a date from the charity dates, so Al-Hasan ibn Ali took a date and began chewing it. Then the Prophet ﷺ put his fingers in it and took it out, saying, 'Spit it out, my son! Don't you know that charity is not permissible for us?'"
The Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) came upon a date on the road; he would not take it for fear of being a part of the sadaqah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1651)

"He and 'Uthman bin 'Affan came to the Messenger of Allah to speak to him about what he had distributed of the Khumus of Hunain to Banu Hashim and Banu Al-Muttalib bin 'Abd Manaf. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you distributed it to our brothers; Banu Al-Muttalib bin 'Abd Manaf, and you did not give us anything, and our relationship to you in the same as theirs. 'The Messenger of Allah said to them: 'I see that Hashim and Al-Muttalib are the same." Jubair bin Mut'im said: "The Messenger of Allah did not allocate anything to Banu 'Abd Shams or Banu Nawfal from that Khumus, as he allocated to Banu Hashim and Banu Al-Muttalib." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4136)
[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said: "The true needy person is not the one who is satisfied with a single meal, two meals, a morsel, two morsels, a date, or two dates. Rather, the truly needy person is the one who cannot find sufficiency, yet they are given sufficiency. They do not ask people insistently for help, and they feel ashamed to ask people insistently for help."
