[Machine] The first time the Messenger of Allah ﷺ complained in the house of Maymuna, his pain intensified to the point of him fainting. He consulted the women about his condition, and they cupped him. When he regained consciousness, he asked, "What is this that the women from this region brought upon me?" and he pointed towards the land of Abyssinia (Ethiopia), where Asma bint 'Umays was residing. They said, "It is a cupping procedure they do to treat a disease." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, it is a remedy, but Allah would not allow me to be harmed by it. Except that all the people in the house were cupped, except Abbas (the Prophet's uncle)." He said, "Maymuna was truly generous that day, and she was fasting out of determination to follow the example of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."

His wives consulted each other about his condition and decided to bleed him. When he regained consciousness, he asked, "What is this?" We said, "This is the action of women who came from here," pointing to the land of Habasha (Ethiopia). Among them was Asma bint Umays. They said, "We suspected that you were bewitched, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Indeed, that is a disease that Allah ﷻ will not be cured of except by it. There will not remain anyone in this house except the one who will tend to me, except for 'Amr, the Messenger of Allah's uncle." He said, "Indeed, Maymuna bled me that day, and she was fasting out of determination for the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ intention."
