[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ rode to Quba on a donkey named Ikaf and he said, "I seek Allah's guidance in regard to inheriting from the maternal aunt and the paternal aunt." Allah then revealed to him that they do not inherit. The hadith of Abdullah bin Ja'far, which includes this evidence, is authentic and it has not been abrogated.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَكِبَ إِلَى قُبَاءَ وَعَلَى الْحِمَارِ إِكَافٌ فَقَالَ «أَسْتَخِيرُ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى فِي مِيرَاثِ الْعَمَّةِ وَالْخَالَةِ» فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ تَعَالَى إِلَيْهِ أَنَّ لَا مِيرَاثَ لَهُمَا «فَقَدْ صَحَّ حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ بِهَذِهِ الشَّوَاهِدِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ»  

[Machine] "I entered upon Abu Bakr As-Siddiq during his illness, in which he eventually passed away. I said to him, 'May I be sacrificed for you, I heard you saying, I wish I had asked the Prophet ﷺ about the inheritance of a paternal aunt and her nephew, as I have a need regarding it.'"  

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ أَعُودُهُ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ مِيرَاثِ الْعَمَّةِ وَالْخَالَةِ فَإِنَّ فِي نَفْسِي مِنْهَا حَاجَةً»  

[Machine] "Aunt does not inherit from the father's sister for the father, the mother, nor the paternal aunt, nor anyone who is further in lineage than the deceased."  

«لَا تَرِثُ الْعَمَّةُ أُخْتُ الْأَبِ لِلْأَبِ وَالْأُمِّ وَلَا الْخَالَةُ وَلَا مَنْ هُوَ أَبْعَدُ نَسَبًا مِنَ الْمُتَوَفَّى»  

[Machine] He said, "Alas! Where is the son of Masud? Indeed, the emigrants inherit among themselves excluding the Bedouins." Then the verse was revealed, "And those with relationships are more entitled to each other." [Surah Al-Ahzab 6]  

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «هَيْهَاتَ هَيْهَاتَ أَيْنَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ إِنَّمَا كَانَ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ يَتَوَارَثُونَ دُونَ الْأَعْرَابِ» فَنَزَلَتْ {وَأُولُو الْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَى بِبَعْضٍ} [الأحزاب 6]  

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: I am the heirs of Him who has none, freeing him from his liabilities, and inheriting what he possesses. A maternal uncle is the heir of Him who has none, freeing him from his liabilities, and inheriting his property. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2901)   

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَنَا مَوْلَى مَنْ لَا مَوْلَى لَهُ أَرِثُ مَالَهُ وَأَفُكُّ عَانِيَهُ وَالْخَالُ وَارِثُ مَنْ لَا وَارِثَ لَهُ يَرِثُ مَالَهُ وَيَفُكُّ عَانِيَهُ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allow the young girl to be with her aunt, for indeed the aunt is like a mother."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «دَعُوا الْجَارِيَةَ مَعَ خَالَتِهَا فَإِنَّ الْخَالَةَ أُمٌّ»  

"'Umar bin Al-Khattab sent me with a letter to Abu'Ubaidah (saying) that The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said : 'Allah and His Messenger are responsible for the one who has no patron. And the maternal uncle inherits from the one who has no heirs.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2103)  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ مَوْلَى مَنْ لَا مَوْلَى لَهُ وَالْخَالُ وَارِثُ مَنْ لَا وَارِثَ لَهُ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ had established brotherhood between a man from the emigrants and a man from the Ansar. We did not doubt that we were meant to inherit from each other in case one of us dies and has no heir. I thought that I would inherit him if he dies, and likewise, he would inherit me if I die. This continued until the following verse was revealed: "The relatives are more entitled to inheritance from each other" (Quran 33:6).  

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَدْ آخَى بَيْنَ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَرَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَلَمْ نَشُكَّ أَنَّا نَتَوَارَثُ لَوْ هَلَكَ كَعْبٌ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ مَنْ يَرِثُهُ فَظَنَنْتُ أَنِّي أَرِثُهُ وَلَوْ هَلَكْتُ كَذَلِكَ يَرِثُنِي» حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {وَأُولُو الْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَى بِبَعْضٍ} [الأحزاب 6]  

[Machine] "It was inherited in a Jewish inheritance, and its inheritor is a Muslim. He said, 'I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Islam increases and does not decrease."'  

أَنَّهُ أُتِيَ فِي مِيرَاثِ يَهُودِيٍّ وَلَهُ وَارِثٌ مُسْلِمٌ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «الْإِسْلَامُ يَزِيدُ وَلَا يَنْقُصُ»  

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "A Muslim cannot inherit from a Christian except by being their slave or servant." This is reported by Muhammad Ibn Amr, known as Al-Yafi'i from the people of Egypt, a truthful narrator of hadith. It is authentic because it is based on the narration of Amr Ibn Shuayb, which is also authentic.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَرِثُ الْمُسْلِمُ النَّصْرَانِيَّ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ عَبْدَهُ أَوْ أَمَتَهُ» مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو هَذَا هُوَ الْيَافِعِيُّ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِصْرَ صَدُوقُ الْحَدِيثِ صَحِيحٌ فَإِنَّ الْأَصْلَ فِيهِ حَدِيثُ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ الَّذِي صحيح  

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said, "A Muslim does not inherit from a disbeliever, nor does a disbeliever inherit from a Muslim." Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about this in his summary.  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَرِثُ الْمُسْلِمُ الْكَافِرَ وَلَا الْكَافِرُ الْمُسْلِمَ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص  

[Machine] That Umm Kulthum gave birth to a son for Umar, and as for the other benefit, it has a valid witness.  

أَنَّ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ وَلَدَتْ لِعُمَرَ ابْنًا فَأَمَّا الْفَائِدَةُ الْأُخْرَى فَلَهُ شَاهِدٌ صحيح  

[Machine] "He used to not inherit from the deceased if it is not known which of them died before the other." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.  

أَنَّهُ «كَانَ لَا يُوَرِّثُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ إِذَا لَمْ يُعْرَفْ أَيُّهُمَا مَاتَ قَبْلَ صَاحِبِهِ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص  

[Machine] "The man used to make a pact with the man, although there was no relation between them for one to inherit the other. So Allah abolished this with the verse of Anfal: "And relatives are more entitled to inherit from one another in the Book of Allah." (Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 6). Al-Dhahabi did not mention this in his summary."  

«كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يُحَالِفُ الرَّجُلَ لَيْسَ بَيْنَهُمَا نَسَبٌ لِيَرِثَ أَحَدُهُمَا الْآخَرَ» فَنَسَخَ اللَّهُ ذَلِكَ بِالْأَنْفَالِ {وَأُولُو الْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَى بِبَعْضٍ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ} [الأحزاب 6] سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص  

[Machine] He heard Muadh ibn Jabal say from the pulpit, "A man left behind his daughter and sister as heirs, so half of the wealth was allotted to his daughter and half to his sister, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is a witness among them."  

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ يَقُولُ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ «وُرِّثَ مَالُ رَجُلٍ تَرَكَ ابْنَتَهُ وَأُخْتَهُ فَجُعِلَ لِابْنَتِهِ النِّصْفُ وَلِأُخْتِهِ النِّصْفُ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَيٌّ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِهِمْ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Find him an inheritor," but only his slave was found. He was the one who had freed him, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Give it to him."  

النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «الْتَمِسُوا لَهُ وَارِثًا» فَلَمْ يُوجَدْ إِلَّا مَوْلًى لَهُ هُوَ الَّذِي أَعْتَقَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَعْطُوهُ إِيَّاهُ»  

[Machine] Yazeed ibn Haroon narrated that Hammad ibn Salamah informed him about the condition of Bukhari and Muslim.  

ثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنْبَأَ حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَعلى شرط البخاري ومسلم  

[Machine] From him, Al-Dhahabi in summarizing.  

عنه الذهبي في التلخيص  

[Machine] "They argued about the cursed child, so his father's tribe came seeking their share of the inheritance. He said, 'Indeed, his father had disowned him.' So he gave his mother the inheritance and made her his sole heir, and did not give them anything."  

اخْتَصَمُوا إِلَى عَلِيٍّ فِي وَلَدِ الْمُلَاعَنَةِ فَجَاءَ عَصَبَةُ أَبِيهِ يَطْلُبُونَ مِيرَاثَهُ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ أَبَاهُ قَدْ كَانَ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُ» فَأَعْطَى أُمَّهُ الْمِيرَاثَ وَجَعَلَهَا عَصَبَةً وَلَمْ يُعْطِهِمْ شَيْئًا  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was visited by a woman who said, "I had given charity on behalf of my mother, but she passed away. The charity has now returned to me." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You will receive the reward for your charity, as it has come back to you." This narration is reported by Sufyan ath-Thawri and others, from Abdullah ibn Ata'ah, from Ibn Buraydah, from his father.  

أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ امْرَأَةٌ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَى أُمِّي بِصَدَقَةٍ فَمَاتَتْ فَرَجَعَتِ الصَّدَقَةُ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «وَجَبَ أَجْرُكِ وَرَجَعَ إِلَيْكِ صَدَقَتُكِ» رَوَاهُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ  

[Machine] A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Indeed, my mother has passed away and she had two months of fasting to make up." He ﷺ replied, "I will fast on her behalf." She then said, "She also had an obligation to perform Hajj." He ﷺ said, "Then perform Hajj on her behalf." She said, "I have given charity on her behalf with a servant." He ﷺ said, "Allah has rewarded you for it and the inheritance has been returned to you."  

أَتَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ أُمِّي تُوُفِّيَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صَوْمُ شَهْرَيْنِ فَقَالَ «صَوْمِي عَنْهَا» فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ عَلَيْهَا حَجَّةً قَالَ «فَحُجِّي عَنْهَا» قَالَتْ فَإِنِّي تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَيْهَا بِجَارِيَةٍ فَقَالَ «قَدْ آجَرَكِ اللَّهُ وَرَدَّهَا عَلَيْكِ الْمِيرَاثُ»  

[Machine] "He (the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) said, 'He (a person) has given charity to his parents and they have both passed away, so the Messenger of Allah returned their inheritance to him.'"  

أَنَّهُ «تَصَدَّقَ عَلَى أَبَوَيْهِ ثُمَّ تُوُفِّيَا فَرَدَّهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَيْهِ مِيرَاثًا»  

[Machine] Abdullah bin Zaid, the son of Abd Rabboh, came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, this wall of mine is a charity for the sake of Allah and His Prophet." Then, his parents came and said, "O Messenger of Allah, this wall has been our source of livelihood." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned it to them. Afterwards, they passed away, and their son inherited it.  

أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ حَائِطِي هَذَا صَدَقَةٌ وَهُوَ لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ فَجَاءَ أَبَوَاهُ فَقَالَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ قِوَامُ عَيْشِنَا «فَرَدَّهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَيْهِمَا ثُمَّ مَاتَا فَوَرِثَهُ ابْنُهُمَا بَعْدَهُمَا»  

[Machine] He donated a wall he owned, so his parents came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, it was the most valuable thing we had, and we had nothing else. Allah the Almighty has accepted your charity and has given it back to your parents." Bashir said, "So we inherited it after that." However, even though the chain of narration is authentic according to the conditions of the two sheikhs, I do not think that Bashir bin Muhammad al-Ansari heard it from his grandfather Abdullah bin Zaid. The two sheikhs only left out the hadith of Abdullah bin Zaid concerning the adhan (call to prayer) and the dreams that he narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ through this chain of narration in order to prioritize the death of Abdullah bin Zaid. It is said that he was martyred in the Battle of Uhud, but it is also said that he died later. And Allah knows best.  

أَنَّهُ تَصَدَّقَ بِحَائِطٍ لَهُ فَأَتَى أَبَوَاهُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهَا كَانَتْ قِيَمَ وُجُوهِنَا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَنَا شَيْءٌ غَيْرَهُ فَدَعَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى قَدْ قَبِلَ صَدَقَتَكَ وَرَدَّهَا عَلَى أَبَوَيْكَ» قَالَ بَشِيرٌ «فَتَوَارَثْنَاهَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ» وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ وَإِنْ كَانَ إِسْنَادُهُ صَحِيحًا عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ فَإِنِّي لَا أَرَى بَشِيرَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ سَمِعَ مِنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ زَيْدٍ وَإِنَّمَا تَرَكَ الشَّيْخَانِ حَدِيثَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فِي الْأَذَانِ وَالرُّؤْيَا الَّتِي قَصَّهَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ لِتَقَدُّمِ مَوْتِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فَقَدْ قِيلَ إِنَّهُ اسْتُشْهِدَ بِأُحُدٍ وَقِيلَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بِيَسِيرٍ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ  

[Machine] Verily, the Prophet ﷺ said, "When a young child dies, he inherits Paradise and his funeral prayer should be offered." I do not know of anyone who narrated this except for Al-Mughirah, and it was transmitted to him by Ibn Juraij and others. We have also written it as a statement of Sufyan Ath-Thawri from Abu Az-Zubair, with the status of marfoo’ (raised) narration.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا اسْتَهَلَّ الصَّبِيُّ وَرِثَ وَصُلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ» لَا أَعْرِفُ أَحَدًا رَفَعَهُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ غَيْرَ الْمُغِيرَةِ وَقَدْ أَوْقَفَهُ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ وَغَيْرُهُ وَقَدْ كَتَبْنَاهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ مَوْقُوفًا  

[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said, 'When a young child dies, he inherits Paradise and it is recommended to pray for him.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا اسْتَهَلَّ الصَّبِيُّ وَرِثَ وَصُلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ»
