We were ordered to go out (for ʿId) and also to take along with us the menstruating women, mature girls and virgins staying in seclusion. (Ibn ʿAun said, "Or mature virgins staying in seclusion)." The menstruating women could present themselves at the religious gathering and invocation of Muslims but should keep away from their Musalla.  

البخاري:٩٨١حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ قَالَتْ أُمُّ عَطِيَّةَ أُمِرْنَا

أَنْ نَخْرُجَ فَنُخْرِجَ الْحُيَّضَ وَالْعَوَاتِقَ وَذَوَاتِ الْخُدُورِ قَالَ ابْنُ عَوْنٍ أَوِ الْعَوَاتِقَ ذَوَاتِ الْخُدُورِ فَأَمَّا الْحُيَّضُ فَيَشْهَدْنَ جَمَاعَةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَدَعْوَتَهُمْ وَيَعْتَزِلْنَ مُصَلاَّهُمْ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command us to separate the menstruating women, the women with postnatal bleeding, and those with urinary incontinence. As for the menstruating women, they would stay away from the prayer area but would witness the goodness and the supplications with the Muslims.

[Machine] We have been commanded to go out in the two Eids, and we take out those who are menstruating, those with postnatal bleeding, and women in seclusion. As for those who are menstruating, they witness the congregation of Muslims and their supplications, and they abstain from prayer.
