ʿAbdullah said, "The judgment I will give in this matter will be like the judgment of the Prophet, i.e. one-half is for the daughter and one-sixth for the son's daughter and the rest of the inheritance for the sister."
عَبْدُ اللَّهِ لأَقْضِيَنَّ فِيهَا بِقَضَاءِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لِلاِبْنَةِ النِّصْفُ وَلاِبْنَةِ الاِبْنِ السُّدُسُ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلأُخْتِ
“A man came to Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari and Salman bin Rabi’ah Al-Bahili and asked them about (the shares of) a daughter, a son’s daughter, a sister through one’s father and mother. They said: ‘The daughter gets one half, and what is left goes to the sister. Go to Ibn Mas’ud, for he will concur with what we say.’ So the man went to Ibn Mas’ud, and told him what they had said. ‘Abdullah said: ‘I will go astray and will not be guided (if I say that I agree); but I will judge as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ judged. The daughter gets one half, and the son’s daughter gets one- sixth. That makes two thirds. And what is left goes to the sister.’”
عَبْدُ اللَّهِ قَدْ ضَلَلْتُ إِذًا وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُهْتَدِينَ وَلَكِنِّي سَأَقْضِي بِمَا قَضَى بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِلاِبْنَةِ النِّصْفُ وَلاِبْنَةِ الاِبْنِ السُّدُسُ تَكْمِلَةَ الثُّلُثَيْنِ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلأُخْتِ
[Machine] So, he informed him and said, "Then I have gone astray, and I am not among the guided. I will decree it according to the judgment of Allah's Messenger ﷺ or he said, 'according to the judgment of Allah's Messenger ﷺ .' Sufyan said this to his daughter and to the daughter of his son, and whatever remains is for his sister."
فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ قَدْ ضَلَلْتُ إِذًا وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُهْتَدِينَ لَأَقْضِيَنَّ فِيهَا بِقَضَاءِ رَسُولِ اللهِﷺ أَوْ قَالَ قَضَاءَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَذَا قَالَ سُفْيَانُ لِلْابْنَةِ النِّصْفُ وَلِابْنَةِ الِابْنِ السُّدُسُ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ

[Machine] Regarding the Prophet ﷺ, concerning a daughter, a granddaughter, and a sister, he said, "The daughter receives half, the granddaughter receives two-thirds, and the remaining portion goes to the sister."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي ابْنَةٍ وَابْنَةِ ابْنٍ وَأُخْتٍ قَالَ «لِلِابْنَةِ النِّصْفُ وَلِابْنَةِ الِابْنِ السُّدُسُ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ»
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ settled a dispute regarding a man who left behind his daughter, his grandson's daughter, and his sister. He allocated half to the daughter, one-sixth to the grandson's daughter, and whatever was left to the sister.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَضَى فِي رَجُلٍ تَرَكَ ابْنَتَهُ وَابْنَةَ ابْنِهِ وَأُخْتَهُ فَجَعَلَ لِلْبِنْتِ النِّصْفَ وَلِابْنَةِ الِابْنِ السُّدُسَ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ
[Machine] "I have indeed gone astray, and I am not one of the guided ones. However, I will rule in it as the Prophet ﷺ ruled: 'For the daughter, half, and for the daughter of the son, one-sixth, completing two-thirds, and what remains is for the sister.'"
لَقَدْ ضَلَلْتُ إِذًا وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُهْتَدِينَ وَلَكِنْ سَأَقْضِي فِيهَا بِمَا قَضَى فِيهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لِلِابْنَةِ النِّصْفُ وَلِابْنَةِ الِابْنِ السُّدُسُ تَكْمِلَةَ الثُّلُثَيْنِ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ»
[Machine] "Regarding the Prophet ﷺ about a daughter, granddaughter, and sister, 'For the daughter, a half share, for the granddaughter, a sixth share, and whatever remains is for the sister.'"
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي ابْنَةٍ وَابْنَةِ ابْنٍ وَأُخْتٍ «لِلِابْنَةِ النِّصْفُ وَلِابْنَةِ الِابْنِ السُّدُسُ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ»
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ regarding a daughter, a granddaughter and a sister: "Half goes to the daughter, one-sixth goes to the granddaughter and the remaining portion goes to the sister."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي بِنْتٍ وَابْنَةِ ابْنٍ وَأُخْتٍ «لِلِابْنَةِ النِّصْفُ وَلِابْنَةِ الِابْنِ السُّدُسُ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ»
"لِلابْنَةِ النِّصْفُ، وَلابْنَةِ الابْن السُّدْسُ، وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلأُخْتُ".
