I came to Khabbab who had been branded with seven brands over his ʿAbdomen, and I heard him saying, "If the Prophet: had not forbidden us to invoke (Allah) for death, I would have invoked Allah for it."

"I entered upon Khabbab when he had been cauterized on his stomach seven times. He said: 'Were it not that the Messenger of Allah forbade us to pray for death, I would have prayed for it."'

[Machine] We entered upon a bricklayer while he was constructing a wall. The Muslim said, "One is rewarded for everything except making it out of this mud." He had been affected by abdominal pain for seven days and said, "If it were not for the Prophet of Allah ﷺ forbidding us from praying for death, I would have prayed for it."
