(A man from the Ansar) The Ansar said, "Every nation has followers and (O Prophet) we have followed you, so invoke Allah to let our followers be considered from us (as Ansar like ourselves)." So the Prophet ﷺ said, "O Allah! Let their followers be considered as Ansar like themselves."  

قَالَتِ الأَنْصَارُ إِنَّ لِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ أَتْبَاعًا وَإِنَّا قَدِ اتَّبَعْنَاكَ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ أَتْبَاعَنَا مِنَّا قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ أَتْبَاعَهُمْ مِنْهُمْ قَالَ عَمْرٌو فَذَكَرْتُهُ لاِبْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ قَدْ زَعَمَ ذَاكَ زَيْدٌ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَظُنُّهُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ  

[Machine] The Ansar said, "O Messenger of Allah, surely every prophet has followers, and we have followed you, so ask Allah to make our followers from among us." He then supplicated for them, asking Allah to make their followers from among them. I then conveyed this to Ibn Abi Layla, and he said, "Zaid claimed that, meaning the son of Arqam."  

قَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ أَتْبَاعًا وَإِنَّا قَدْ تَبِعْنَاكَ فَادْعُ اللهَ ﷻ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ أَتْبَاعَنَا مِنَّا قَالَ فَدَعَا لَهُمْ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ أَتْبَاعَهُمْ مِنْهُمْ قَالَ فَنَمَّيْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى فَقَالَ زَعَمَ ذَلِكَ زَيْدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَرْقَمَ  

[Machine] The Ansar said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed every prophet has followers, and we have followed you, so pray to Allah that He makes our followers from among us." So he prayed for them, "O Allah, make their followers from among them." I attributed this narration to Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Layla and he said, "This claim was made by Zaid bin Arqam." The chain of narrators is authentic, but it was not mentioned in a Sahih collection.  

قَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ أَتْبَاعًا وَإِنَّا قَدِ اتَّبَعْنَاكَ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ أَتْبَاعَنَا مِنَّا «فَدَعَا لَهُمْ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ أَتْبَاعَهُمْ مِنْهُمْ» قَالَ فَنَمَيْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى فَقَالَ «قَدْ زَعَمَ ذَلِكَ زَيْدُ بْنُ أَرْقَمَ» صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ صحيح  

[Machine] I heard Zaid bin Arqam saying: "O Messenger of Allah, every group has followers, and we have followed you. So, pray to Allah to make our followers from amongst us." Then Amr bin Murrah reported that to Ibn Abi Layla, who said, "Zaid bin Arqam claimed that."  

سَمِعْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ يَقُولُ قُلْنَا «يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لكُلِّ قَوْمٍ تَبَعًا وَإِنَّا قَدِ اتَّبَعْنَاكَ فَادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ أَتْبَاعَنَا مِنَّا فَدَعَا» فَقَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ فَنَمَّيْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى فَقَالَ «قَدْ زَعَمَ ذَلِكَ زَيْدُ بْنُ أَرْقَمَ»  

"عَنْ عَمْرِو بنِ مُرةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا حَمْزَةَ قَالَ: قَالَتِ الأَنْصَارُ: يَارَسُولَ اللهِ! إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ أتْبَاعًا وَإِنَّا قَدِ اتَّبَعْنَاكَ فَادعُ اللهَ أنْ يَجْعَلَ أَتْبَاعَنَا مِنَّا، فَدَعَا لَهُمْ أنْ يُجْعَلَ أتْبَاعُهُم مِنْهُمْ فَنَمَيْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ بنِ أبى لَيْلى فَقَالَ: قَدْ زَعَمَ ذَلكَ زَيْدٌ".
