A man came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I have contracted marriage with a woman of the Ansar, whereupon Allah's Apostle ﷺ said: Did you cast a glance at her, for there is something in the eyes of the Ansar? He said: I did cast a glance at her, whereupon he said: For what (dower) did you marry her? He said: For four 'uqiyas. Thereupon Allah's Apostle ﷺ said: For four 'uqiyas; it seems as if you dig out silver from the side of this mountain (and that is why you are prepared to pay such a large amount of dower). We have nothing which we should give you. There is a possibility that we may send you to an (expedition) where you may get (booty). So he sent that man (in the expedition) which was despatched to Banu 'Abs.

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ هَلْ نَظَرْتَ إِلَيْهَا فَإِنَّ فِي عُيُونِ الأَنْصَارِ شَيْئًا قَالَ قَدْ نَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهَا قَالَ عَلَى كَمْ تَزَوَّجْتَهَا قَالَ عَلَى أَرْبَعِ أَوَاقٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى أَرْبَعِ أَوَاقٍ كَأَنَّمَا تَنْحِتُونَ الْفِضَّةَ مِنْ عُرْضِ هَذَا الْجَبَلِ مَا عِنْدَنَا مَا نُعْطِيكَ وَلَكِنْ عَسَى أَنْ نَبْعَثَكَ فِي بَعْثٍ تُصِيبُ مِنْهُ قَالَ فَبَعَثَ بَعْثًا إِلَى بَنِي عَبْسٍ بَعَثَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلَ فِيهِمْ

[AI] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ or he said a youth came and said, "I have married a woman." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Have you looked at her? For indeed, in the eyes of the Ansar, there is something." He said, "Yes, I have looked at her." The Prophet ﷺ said, "How much did you marry her for?" So he mentioned an amount. The Prophet ﷺ said, "It is as if you are chiseling gold and silver from the mountainside. We do not have anything to give you today, but I will send you on a mission where you will be rewarded." So he sent him on a mission to the tribe of Banu 'Abs, and the man went to them and asked for help. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, my she-camel has become weak." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ reached out his hand as if it were leaning on something to stand up and said, "Take her." Abu Hurairah said, "By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, I saw her outpace the leader."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَوْ قَالَ فَتًى فَقَالَ إِنِّي تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً فَقَالَ هَلْ نَظَرْتَ إِلَيْهَا فَإِنَّ فِي أَعْيُنِ الْأَنْصَارِ شَيْئًا قَالَ قَدْ نَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهَا قَالَ عَلَى كَمْ تَزَوَّجْتَهَا؟ فَذَكَرَ شَيْئًا قَالَ فَكَأَنَّكُمْ تَنْحِتُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ مِنْ عَرْضِ هَذِهِ الْجِبَالِ مَا عِنْدَنَا الْيَوْمَ شَيْءٌ نُعْطِيكَهُ وَلَكِنْ سَأَبْعَثُكَ فِي وَجْهٍ تُصِيبُ فِيهِ فَبَعَثَ بَعْثًا إِلَى بَنِي عَبْسٍ وَبَعَثَ الرَّجُلَ فِيهِمْ فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَعْيَتْنِي نَاقَتِي أَنْ تَنْبَعِثَ قَالَ فَنَاوَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَدَهُ كَالْمُعْتَمِدِ عَلَيْهِ لِلْقِيَامِ فَأَتَاهَا فَضَرَبَهَا بِرِجْلِهِ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهَا تَسْبِقُ الْقَائِدَ
