[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to a man, "Did you do such and such?" The man replied, "No, by the One whom there is no deity but Him, I did not do it." The Prophet said, "Verily, Jibril (Gabriel) has already said that you did it, but your sins have been forgiven by saying, 'There is no deity but Allah.'" Hammād said, "I have not heard this from Ibn 'Umar. Between them is a man called Thābit."
[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to a man, 'Did you do this?' He replied, 'No, by Allah, besides whom there is no deity, I did not do it.' Jibreel ﷺ said to him, 'Yes, you did, but Allah the Most High has forgiven you with the statement 'There is no deity except Allah.' Hammad said, 'I did not hear this from Ibn Umar, and between them there was a man, meaning Thabit.'"
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to a man, "O Fulan, did you do such and such?" The man replied, "No, by Allah, the One whom there is no deity but Him, I did not do it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ knew that he had indeed done it. He repeated this to him several times, and each time the man would swear by Allah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah absolve you of your lie because of your truthfulness to 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no deity but Allah)." And it is narrated on the authority of Thabit from Ibn 'Umar.
