While Abu Bakr was leading the people in the morning prayer on a Monday, the Prophet ﷺ came towards them suddenly having lifted the curtain of 'Aisha's house, and looked at them as they were standing in rows and smiled. Abu Bakr tried to come back thinking that Allah's Apostle wanted to come out for the prayer. The attention of the Muslims was diverted from the prayer because they were delighted to see the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ waved his hand to them to complete their prayer, then he went back into the room and let down the curtain. The Prophet expired on that very day.
[AI] He said that the last glance I had towards the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was when he was complaining, so he ordered Abu Bakr to lead the prayer for the people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ uncovered the curtain of Aisha's room and looked at the people. I looked at his face and it appeared to me like the page of a Qur'an until Abu Bakr stumbled on his heels to reach the front row, thinking that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to lead the prayer for the people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled when he saw them in rows and gestured with his hand to them to complete their prayer, and he stood a curtain between him and them. He passed away on that day.

[AI] On Monday, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ uncovered the door of the room and saw Abu Bakr praying with the people. He said, "I looked at his face and it appeared to me like the page of a Qur'an, and he was smiling." We were almost distracted in our prayers due to our joy of seeing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Abu Bakr wanted to step back, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ signaled to him to remain as he was. Then the curtain was closed again as it had been before. Umar stood up and said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not die, but his Lord has sent him just as He sent Moses, and he stayed away from his people for forty nights. By Allah, I hope that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will live until he cuts off the hands of men of the hypocrites and their tongues, who claim or say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has died."
