"I heard Ibn Abi Laila narrating that Hudhaifah asked for water, so someone brought him a vessel made from silver. He threw it, and said: 'I have indeed forbade him, but he refused to stop! Indeed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited drinking from silver and gold vessels, and from wearing silk and Dibaj, and he ﷺ said: "If is for them in this world, and for you in the Hereafter." He said: There are narrations on this topic from Umm Salamah, Al-Bara', and 'Aishah.  

أَنَّ حُذَيْفَةَ اسْتَسْقَى فَأَتَاهُ إِنْسَانٌ بِإِنَاءٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَرَمَاهُ بِهِ وَقَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ قَدْ نَهَيْتُهُ فَأَبَى أَنْ يَنْتَهِيَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الشُّرْبِ فِي آنِيَةِ الْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبِ وَلُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ وَالدِّيبَاجِ وَقَالَ هِيَ لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَلَكُمْ فِي الآخِرَةِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَالْبَرَاءِ وَعَائِشَةَ  

Whan Hudhaifah was in al-Mada’in, he asked for water. A peasant brought him a silver vessel. He threw it away and said: I threw it away, for I prohibited (him) but he did not stop. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade to wear silk or brocade, and to drink from gold and silver vessels. He said: Others have them in this world and you will have them in the next. [Machine] Huzaifa requested for some water, so a servant brought him a silver vessel. He took it and threw it away, saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from drinking in vessels made of gold or silver, and from eating in them, as well as wearing silk and brocade garments, and sitting on them." He said, "These are for them in this world, and for you in the Hereafter."  

اسْتَسْقَى حُذَيْفَةُ فَأَتَاهُ دِهْقَانٌ بِإِنَاءٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَأَخَذَهُ فَرَمَاهُ بِهِ وَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَشْرَبَ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَأَنْ نَأْكُلَ فِيهَا وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ وَالدِّيبَاجِ وَأَنْ نَجْلِسَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ هُوَ لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَلَكُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ  

[Machine] Huzaifah asked for water, so a man brought a silver vessel to him. He took it and threw it away, saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had forbidden them from drinking in gold and silver vessels, eating in them, wearing silk and brocade, and sitting on them. He said, "These things are for them in this worldly life, and for you in the Hereafter." Qasim narrated to us, and Fadl ibn Sahl narrated to me, from Yahya ibn Ishaq, from Jarir, from Ibn Abi Najih, a similar narration.
