That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever arrogantly drags his garment, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Judgement." So Umm Salamah said: "What should the women do with their hems?" He said: "Slacken them a handspan." So she said: "Then their feet will be uncovered." He said: "Then slacken them a forearm's length and do not add to that." He said: This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. In the Hadith there is a concession for women to drag their Izar because it covers them better.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ جَرَّ ثَوْبَهُ خُيَلاَءَ لَمْ يَنْظُرِ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَكَيْفَ يَصْنَعْنَ النِّسَاءُ بِذُيُولِهِنَّ قَالَ يُرْخِينَ شِبْرًا فَقَالَتْ إِذًا تَنْكَشِفَ أَقْدَامُهُنَّ قَالَ فَيُرْخِينَهُ ذِرَاعًا لاَ يَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'Whoever drags his garment out of pride, Allah will not look at him.' Umm Salamah said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what should women do with their hems?' He said: 'Let it down a hand span.' She said: 'But then their feet will show.' He said: 'Let it down a forearm's length, but no more than that.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ جَرَّ ثَوْبَهُ مِنَ الْخُيَلاَءِ لَمْ يَنْظُرِ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَكَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ النِّسَاءُ بِذُيُولِهِنَّ قَالَ تُرْخِينَهُ شِبْرًا قَالَتْ إِذًا تَنْكَشِفَ أَقْدَامُهُنَّ قَالَ تُرْخِينَهُ ذِرَاعًا لاَ تَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ

When the Prophet [SAW] said what he said about the Izar, Umm Salamah said: "What about women?" He said: "Let it down a hand span." She said: "But then their feet will show." He said: "Then (let it down) a forearm's length, but no more than that."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمَّا ذَكَرَ فِي الإِزَارِ مَا ذَكَرَ قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَكَيْفَ بِالنِّسَاءِ قَالَ يُرْخِينَ شِبْرًا قَالَتْ إِذًا تَبْدُوَ أَقْدَامُهُنَّ قَالَ فَذِرَاعًا لاَ يَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Certainly, the one who drags his garment out of pride, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection." Nafi' said, "I was informed that Umm Salamah said, 'What about us then?' He (the Messenger of Allah) said, 'A hand-span.' She said, 'So, will our feet become apparent?' He said, 'A forearm's length, do not go beyond that.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الَّذِي يَجُرُّ ثَوْبَهُ مِنَ الْخُيَلَاءِ لَا يَنْظُرُ اللهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ نَافِعٌ فَأُنْبِئْتُ أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ فَكَيْفَ بِنَا؟ قَالَ شِبْرًا قَالَتْ إِذَنْ تَبْدُوَ أَقْدَامُنَا قَالَ ذِرَاعًا لَا تَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Whoever drags his garment out of pride, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Judgment." Sulayman ibn Yasar narrated that Umm Salamah mentioned the topic of women, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "They should lower (their garments) to the length of a forearm, and not longer than that."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ جَرَّ ثَوْبَهُ مِنَ الْخُيَلَاءِ لَمْ يَنْظُرِ اللهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ وَأَخْبَرَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ذَكَرَتِ النِّسَاءَ فَقَالَ تُرْخِي شِبْرًا قَالَتْ إِذَنْ تَنْكَشِفَ قَالَ فَذِرَاعًا لَا يَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ

[AI] I said, "How about women, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "They reveal an arm's length." I said, "Then what remains uncovered from them?" He said, "A forearm that should not exceed."

قُلْتُ فَكَيْفَ بِالنِّسَاءِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ تُرْخِينَ شِبْرًا قُلْتُ إِذَنْ يَنْكَشِفَ عَنْهُنَّ؟ قَالَ فَذِرَاعٌ لَا يَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ

[AI] From Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , she said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The feet of women should not exceed the length of a forearm.' I asked, 'So, the lower part of their legs should be visible, O Messenger of Allah?' He replied, 'No, they should be covered up to the ankle.'"

عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذُيُولُ النِّسَاءِ شِبْرٌ قُلْتُ إِذَنْ تَبْدُوَ أَقْدَامُهُنَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ فَذِرَاعٌ لَا تَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ

[AI] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what about women?" He said, "They should shorten their garment by a handspan." I said, "So their ankles would be exposed, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "A forearm's length, and they should not increase it."

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ بِالنِّسَاءِ؟ قَالَ يُرْخِينَ شِبْرًا قُلْتُ إِذَنْ يَنْكَشِفَ عَنْهُنَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ فَذِرَاعٌ لَا يَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ

[AI] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what about women?" He said, "They should cover a forearm’s length." I said, "So, their forearms will be exposed?" He said, "A handspan, they shouldn't exceed that."

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ بِالنِّسَاءِ؟ قَالَ «يُرْخِينَ شِبْرًا» قُلْتُ إِذًا يَنْكَشِفُ عَنْهُنَّ قَالَ «فَذِرَاعًا لَا يَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ»
