[Machine] Abdullah ibn Salama Al-Qa'nabi reported that Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad narrated from Hisham ibn Uruwah, from his father, that Umar ibn al-Khattab used to teach the people how to recite the Tashahhud in prayer while delivering a sermon on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He would say, "When one of you recites Tashahhud in prayer, let them say: 'In the name of Allah, the most beneficial, the most merciful. All pure prayers, good greetings and pure acts of worship to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah. I bear witness that there is no God but Allah alone, without any partners, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.' Umar said, 'Begin with yourselves after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and send peace upon the righteous slaves of Allah.'"  

ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ كَانَ يُعَلِّمُ النَّاسَ التَّشَهُّدَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ عَلَى مِنْبَرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَيَقُولُ إِذَا تَشَهَّدَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَقُلْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَيْرِ الْأَسْمَاءِ التَّحِيَّاتُ الزَّاكِيَاتُ الصَّلَوَاتُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ لِلَّهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عَبَّادِ اللَّهِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ قَالَ عُمَرُ «ابْدَءُوا بِأَنْفُسِكُمْ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَسَلِّمُوا عَلَى عَبَّادِ اللَّهِ الصَّالِحِينَ»  

[Machine] "From the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , regarding the Tashahhud: the greetings are for Allah, and the prayers and good deeds. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah. Ibn Umar said: 'I added to it: peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah.' Ibn Umar said: 'I added to it alone, with no partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.' This is a narration of Abu Dawud, reported by Ibn Abi Adiyah from Shu'bah, except that he attributed it to the life of the Prophet, ﷺ . He said: 'We used to say it during his lifetime, but when he died, we said: peace be upon the Prophet and the mercy of Allah.' And Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Bukhari said that the narration of Saif from Mujahid, from Abu Ma'mar, from Abdullah ibn Mas'ood, is preserved without the narration of Abu Bishr. And Allah knows best. It is also narrated from Abdullah ibn Babyy, from Ibn Umar, from the Prophet, ﷺ , with similar wording, except that he ended his statement with 'for Allah' and added to the original."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي التَّشَهُّدِ التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ زِدْتُ فِيهَا وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ زِدْتُ فِيهَا وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ أَبِي دَاوُدَ وَرَوَاهُ ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ فَوَقَفَهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ رَدَّهُ إِلَى حَيَاةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ كُنَّا نَقُولُهَا فِي حَيَاتِهِ فَلَمَّا مَاتَ قُلْنَا السَّلَامُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَكَانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْبُخَارِيُّ يَرَى رِوَايَةَ سَيْفٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ هِيَ الْمَحْفُوظَةَ دُونَ رِوَايَةِ أَبِي بِشْرٍ وَاللهُ تَعَالَى أَعْلَمُ وَرُوِيَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بَابِي عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنْهُ كَذَا إِلَّا أَنَّهُ أَخَّرَ قَوْلَهُ لِلَّهِ وَزَادَ فِي الْأَصْلِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ وَرُوِيَ عَنْ زَيْدٍ الْعَمِّيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ مُخْتَصَرًا  

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah teaches us to recite the Tashahhud, "In the name of Allah, and the blessings and peace be upon Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. I ask Allah for Paradise and seek refuge in Him from the Fire." Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated to us, Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq al-Faqih narrated to us, Abu Muslim narrated to us, Abu Asim narrated to us, Ayman ibn Nabil narrated to us, Abu al-Zubair mentioned it with similar words and added what he teaches us from the Quran. He said, "The greetings, blessings, and good deeds are for Allah. And at the end, he said, 'We ask Allah for Paradise and seek refuge in Him from the Fire.'" Ayman ibn Nabil mentioned it exclusively from Abu al-Zubair from Jabir. Abu Isa asked al-Bukhari about this hadith and he said, "It is a mistake. The correct version is..."  

رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُعَلِّمُنَا التَّشَهُّدَ بِسْمِ اللهِ وَبِاللهِ التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَسْأَلُ اللهَ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَعُوذُ بِهِ مِنَ النَّارِ 2830 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ ثنا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ثنا أَيْمَنُ بْنُ نَابِلٍ ثنا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ فَذَكَرَهُ بِمِثْلِهِ وَزَادَ كَمَا يُعَلِّمُنَا السُّورَةَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ وَقَالَ التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ الصَّلَوَاتُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ لِلَّهِ وَقَالَ فِي آخِرِهِ نَسْأَلُ اللهَ الْجَنَّةَ وَنَعُوذُ بِهِ مِنَ النَّارِ تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ أَيْمَنُ بْنُ نَابِلٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى سَأَلْتُ الْبُخَارِيَّ عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فَقَالَ هُوَ خَطَأٌ وَالصَّوَابُ مَا  

[Machine] That Umar ibn Al-Khattab used to teach people the Tashahhud (testimonial prayer) during the prayer while delivering a sermon on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He would say, "When one of you says the Tashahhud, let him say: 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.' Umar said, 'Begin with yourselves after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and send peace upon the righteous servants of Allah.'"  

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ كَانَ يُعَلِّمُ النَّاسَ التَّشَهُّدَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ عَلَى مِنْبَرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَيَقُولُ إِذَا تَشَهَّدَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَقُلْ بِسْمِ اللهِ خَيْرِ الْأَسْمَاءِ التَّحِيَّاتُ الزَّاكِيَّاتُ الصَّلَوَاتُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ لِلَّهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ قَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ ابْدَءُوا بِأَنْفُسِكُمْ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَسَلِّمُوا عَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ  

"عن عروة: أن عمر بن الخطاب كَانَ يُعَلِّمُ النَّاسَ التَشَهُّدَ فِى الصَّلَاةِ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ عَلَى مِنْبَرِ رَسُولِ اللَّه ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِذَا تَشَهَّدَ أَحَدُكُم فَليَقُلْ: بِاسْمِ اللَّه خَيْرِ الأَسْمَاءِ، التَحِيَّاتُ الزَّاكِيَاتُ، والصَّلَوَاتُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ للَّه السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّه وَبَرَكَاتُهُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عبَادِ اللَّه، الصَّالِحِينَ: أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّه وأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ: قَالَ عُمَرُ: ابْدَأُوا بِأَنْفُسِكُمْ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّه ﷺ وَسَلِّمُوا عَلَى عبَادِ اللَّه الصِّالِحِينَ".  

"عَنْ عبد الرحمن بن عبدِ القارى أنه سمع عمر بن الخطاب - وهو على المنبر وهو يعلم الناس التشهد - يقول: قُولُوا: التَّحِيَّاتُ لله، الزَّاكِيَاتُ لله، الطَّيِّباتُ، الصَّلَوَاتُ لله، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ وَرَحْمَةُ الله وَبَرَكَاتُهُ، (السَّلَامُ عَلينَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ الله الصَّالِحِينَ) أَشْهَدُ أنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله، وَأَشْهَدُ أَن مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ".

"عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَن بْنِ عُبَيد الْقَارِى، قَالَ: شَهِدْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَهُوَ يُعَلِّمُ النَّاسَ التَّشَهُّدَ فَقَالَ: بِسْمِ الله خْيرِ الأَسْماءٍ: التَّحِيَّاتُ لله، الزَّاكِيَاتُ لله، الطَّيِّبَاتُ الصَّلَواتُ لله، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ وَرَحْمَةُ الله وَبرَكَاتُهُ، السَّلَامُ عَلْينَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ الله الصَّالِحينَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُه".
