[Machine] And by Allah, I will not go to my house until I go to the city and come to Al-Madina. So I came to Al-Madina and was directed to Al-Abbas. While he was sleeping in the mosque with a turban on his head, a thief came and stole it from him. So he took it from him and brought it to the Prophet ﷺ . The Prophet ﷺ ordered it to be cut, so he said, "O Messenger of Allah, it is his." He said, "Then, why didn't you kiss it before bringing it?"  

البيهقي:١٧٢٢٦ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ الرَّمْلِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ قَالَ قِيلَ لِصَفْوَانَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ خَلَفٍ إِنَّهُ لَا دِينَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يُهَاجِرْ فَقَالَ

وَاللهِ لَا أَصِلُ إِلَى بَيْتِي حَتَّى أَذْهَبَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَأَتَى الْمَدِينَةَ فَدُلَّ عَلَى الْعَبَّاسِ ؓ فَبَيْنَا هُوَ نَائِمٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَعَلَى رَأْسِهِ قُصَّةٌ فَجَاءَ سَارِقٌ فَسَرَقَهَا فَأَخَذَهَا مِنْهُ فَجَاءَ بِهِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِقَطْعِهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هِيَ لَهُ فَقَالَ فَهَلَّا قَبْلَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَ بِهِ

[Machine] That Sufyan ibn Umayyah came to the city and slept in the mosque, and he placed his garment under his head. Then a thief came and stole it. So he was brought to the Prophet ﷺ, and he ordered that his hand be cut off. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, it belongs to him." He said, "Why didn't you bring it to me before?"  

الطبراني:٧٣٢٦ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ أُمَيَّةَ قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ فَنَامَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَوَضَعَ خَمِيصَةً لَهُ تَحْتَ رَأْسِهِ فَأَتَاهُ سَارِقٌ فَسَرَقَهَا فَجِيءَ بِهِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ أَنْ يُقْطَعَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هِيَ لَهُ قَالَ «فَهَلَّا قَبْلَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَنِي بِهِ؟»

"عَنْ طَاوُوسٍ قَال: قِيلَ لصَفْوَانَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ وَهُوَ بأَعْلَى مَكَّةَ: لَا دِينَ لمَنْ لَمْ يُهَاجِرْ. فَقَال: وَاللَّهِ لَا أَصِلُ إِلَى أَهْلِى حَتَّى آتِى الْمَدِينَةَ، فَأَتَى الْمَدِينَةَ فَنَزَلَ عَلَى الْعَبَّاسِ

فَاضْطَجَعَ فِى الْمَسْجِدِ وَخَمِيصَةٌ تَحْتَ رَأْسِهِ، فَجَاءَ سَارِقٌ فسرقها مِنْ تَحْتِ رَأسِه، فَأَتَى بِهِ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ فَقَال: إِنَّ هَذَا سَارِقٌ، فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَقُطِعَ، فَقَال: هِىَ لَهُ، فَقَال. هَلَّا قبْل أَنْ تَأْتِيَنِى بِهِ".
