I was present with Marwan who asked AbuHurayrah: Did you hear how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray over the dead? He said: Even with the words that you said. (The narrator said: They exchanged hot words between them before that.) Abu Hurairah said: O Allah, Thou art its Lord. Thou didst create it, Thou didst guide it to Islam, Thou hast taken its spirit, and Thou knowest best its inner nature and outer aspect. We have come as intercessors, so forgive him. Abu Dawud said: Shu'bah made a mistake in mentioning the name of 'Ali b. Shammakh. He said in his version: 'Uthman b. Shammas. Abu Dawud said: I heard Ahmad b. Ibrahim al-Mawsili say that Ahmad b. Hanbal said: In every meeting which I attended with Hammad b. Zaid he forbade to narrate this traditions from 'Abd al-Warith and Ja'far b. Sulaiman.  

شَهِدْتُ مَرْوَانَ سَأَلَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ كَيْفَ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ قَالَ أَمَعَ الَّذِي قُلْتَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ كَلاَمٌ كَانَ بَيْنَهُمَا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبُّهَا وَأَنْتَ خَلَقْتَهَا وَأَنْتَ هَدَيْتَهَا لِلإِسْلاَمِ وَأَنْتَ قَبَضْتَ رُوحَهَا وَأَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِسِرِّهَا وَعَلاَنِيَتِهَا جِئْنَاكَ شُفَعَاءَ فَاغْفِرْ لَهُ  

[Machine] "On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , or on your authority, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and then he returned and we said, now what will happen to him? He said, how did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying on the funeral prayer? He said, I heard him say, O Allah, You created it, You provided for it, and You guided it to Islam, and You took its soul. You know its secrets and its public matters. We have come as intercessors, so forgive it."  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَوْ حَدِيثَكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَقُلْنَا الْآنَ يَقَعُ بِهِ قَالَ كَيْفَ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْجَنَائِزِ؟ قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَهَا وَأَنْتَ رَزَقْتَهَا وَأَنْتَ هَدَيْتَهَا لِلْإِسْلَامِ وَأَنْتَ قَبَضْتَ رُوحَهَا تَعْلَمُ سِرَّهَا وَعَلَانِيَتَهَا جِئْنَاشُفَعَاءَ فَاغْفِرْ لَهَا  

[Machine] I saw Marwan asking Abu Huraira how he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying over the funeral. Abu Huraira replied, "Just as I have mentioned it." Marwan asked, "Did he (the Messenger) really say, 'O Allah, you are her Lord, you created her, you guided her to Islam, you took her soul, and you know her secret and public life. We have come as intercessors, so forgive her'?"  

شَهِدْتُ مَرْوَانَ سَأَلَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ كَيْفَ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْجِنَازَةِ؟ فَقَالَ مَعَ الَّذِي قُلْتُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبُّهَا وَأَنْتَ خَلَقْتَهَا وَأَنْتَ هَدَيْتَهَا لِلْإِسْلَامِ وَأَنْتَقَبَضْتَ رُوحَهَا وَأَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِسِرِّهَا وَعَلَانِيَتِهَا جِئْنَا شُفَعَاءَ فَاغْفِرْ لَهَا  

[Machine] Did you hear the Prophet (PBUH) praying on the funeral? Then he said: "O Allah, you created it, guided it, and took its soul. You know its secrets and its public. We came as intercessors, so forgive it."  

سَمِعْتَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ؟ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَهَا وَأَنْتَ هَدَيْتَهَا وَأَنْتَ قَبَضْتَ رُوحَهَا تَعْلَمُ سِرَّهَا وَعَلَانِيَتَهَا جِئْنَا شُفَعَاءَ فَاغْفِرْ لَهَا»  

[Machine] Did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying upon the funeral? He said, "O Allah, You created it and guided it to Islam, and You took its soul while You know its secret and what is apparent. We have interceded as intercessors, so forgive it."  

سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ؟ قَالَ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَهَا وَهَدَيْتَهَا إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَأَنْتَ قَبَضْتَ رُوحَهَا وَأَنْتَ تَعْلَمُ سِرَّهَا وَعَلَانِيَتَهَا جِئْنَا شُفَعَاءَ فَاغْفِرْ لَهَا»  

[Machine] Did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying on the funeral? He said, "O Allah, You are its Lord, You created it, You guided it to Islam, and You know its secret and its public. We came as intercessors, so forgive it."  

سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ؟ فَقَالَ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبُّهَا وَأَنْتَ خَلَقْتَهَا وَأَنْتَ هَدَيْتَهَا لِلْإِسْلَامِ وَأَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِسِرِّهَا وَعَلَانِيَتِهَا جِئْنَا شُفَعَاءَ فَاغْفِرْ لَهَا»  

"اللَّهُمَّ أنْتَ رِبُّها وأنْتَ خَلَقْتهَا، وأنت هديتَها للإِسلام وأنْتَ قبضت رُوحَها وأنت أعلمُ بِسِرِّها وعَلانيتِها جِئْنا شفعاءَ فاغْفِرْ لها" .  

"عَنْ عُثْمانَ بْن شَماسٍ قَالَ: كُنَّا عِندَ أَبِى هُرَيْرة فَمَرَّ مَرَوَانُ فَقَالَ: كَيْفَ سَمِعْت رسُول الله ﷺ يُصَلِّى عَلَى الجنَازةِ؟ فَقَالَ لَه: سَمِعْتُه يقول: أَنْتَ هَدَيْتهَا للإِسْلامِ وَأَنْتَ قَبَضْتَ رُوحَها، تَعْلَمُ سِرَّهَا وعَلَانِيتَهَا جِئنَا شُفَعَاءَ فاغْفِرْ لَهَا".
