I heard ‘Ali say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me when Fatimah and I were sleeping, and that was at the time before dawn. He stood at the door and said, “Why donʿt you get up and pray?ʿ I answered him: O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, our souls are in the hand of Allah and if He wills. He will wake us up. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went back and did not say anything else (to me), but I heard him, as he was leaving strike his hand against his thigh and say: “But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anythingʿ [al-Kahf 18:54].
