"Ibn Umar said: "A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about prayer at night. He said: "Two by two, and if you fear that dawn will come, then one.'"

ابْنُ عُمَرَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَوَاحِدَةٌ

A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about prayers at night. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "prayers at night are (offered) two by two, then if you fear that dawn will come, pray witr with one."

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلاً سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about the night prayer. The Prophet ﷺ replied, "The night prayer is performed in pairs. You offer Salaam after every two units (rak'ahs). And when you fear the beginning of dawn, offer one unit (rak'ah) that will serve as Witr (odd-numbered prayer) for you."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى تُسَلِّمُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَةً تُوتِرُ لَكَ مَا قَبْلَهَا

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was called by a man from the desert, while I was between him and the Bedouin. The man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, how is the night prayer?" The Prophet replied, "It is performed in sets of two rak'ahs. And if you fear the approaching dawn, then perform one rak'ah as well as two rak'ahs before the dawn prayer."

نَادَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ وَأَنَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْبَدَوِيِّ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ صَلَاةُاللَّيْلِ؟ فَقَالَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَوَاحِدَةً وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْغَدَاةِ

[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "The night prayer is performed in pairs, pairs. When you fear the approach of dawn, then prostrate in a prostration and perform two units before dawn."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَاسْجُدْ سَجْدَةً وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ

[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about the night prayer. The Prophet replied, "The night prayer is performed in sets of two. After every two units, you should make the Taslim (saying the Salaam). And when you fear the approaching dawn, pray one unit of prayer which will complete and perfect your night prayer."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى تُسَلِّمُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَةً تُوتِرُ لَكَ مَا قَبْلَهَا

A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about prayers at night. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "prayers at night are (offered) two by two, then if you fear that dawn will come, pray witr with one." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1673)

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

[Machine] A man called the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I was between them, asked: "How is the night prayer?" He said, "Two by two. When you fear the approaching dawn, then pray one rakah and make two prostrations before dawn."

نَادَى رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا بَيْنَهُمَا كَيْفَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ؟ فَقَالَ «مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَصَلِّ وَاحِدَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ»

"عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: نَادَى رَجُل مِنْ أهْلِ البَادِيَةِ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ وَأنَا بَيْنَهُمَا، مَا تَقُولُ فِى صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ؟ فَقَالَ: مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ أَوْ أَحْسَسْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَاسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلاَةِ الصبْحِ".
