I wrote a letter to Ibn ʿAbbas and he wrote to me that the Prophet ﷺ had given the verdict that the defendant had to take an oath.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَضَى أَنَّ الْيَمِينَ عَلَى الْمُدَّعَى عَلَيْهِ

Ibn ʿAbbas wrote that the Prophet ﷺ gave his verdict on the basis of the defendant's oath.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَضَى بِالْيَمِينِ عَلَى الْمُدَّعَى عَلَيْهِ

Ibn 'Abbas reported that Messenger of Allah ﷺ pronounced judgment on the basis of oath by the defendant.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَضَى بِالْيَمِينِ عَلَى الْمُدَّعَى عَلَيْهِ

Ibn ‘Abbas wrote to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺhad defendant should take an oath.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَضَى بِالْيَمِينِ عَلَى الْمُدَّعَى عَلَيْهِ

Ibn 'Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ judged that the oath is due from the one the claim is made against.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَضَى أَنَّ الْيَمِينَ عَلَى الْمُدَّعَى عَلَيْهِ

the Messenger of Allah said: “There is no marriage except with a guardian.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ نِكَاحَ إِلاَّ بِوَلِيٍّ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا نِكَاحَ إِلَّا بِوَلِيٍّ»

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ that he said: "There is no marriage without a guardian, and the ruler is the guardian of the one who has no guardian."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا نِكَاحَ إِلا بِوَلِيٍّ وَالسُّلْطَانُ مَوْلَى مَنْ لَا مَوْلَى لَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no marriage without a guardian (wali) and the authority (sultan), and the guardian (wali) is for the one who has no guardian (wali)."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا نِكَاحَ إِلَّا بِوَلِيٍّ وَالسُّلْطَانُ وَلِيُّ مَنْ لَا وَلِيَّ لَهُ

Yahya said, "Malik said from Jafar ibn Muhammad from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pronounced judgement on the basis of an oath with one witness."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا رِبَا إِلَّا فِي النَّسِيئَةِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا نِكَاحَ إِلَّا بِوَلِيٍّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ الْحَيَاءُ خَيْرٌ كُلُّهُ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ الْحَيَاءُ خَيْرٌ كُلُّهُ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَيْسَ الْبِرُّ الصِّيَامَ فِي السَّفَرِ

أَنَّ النَّبيَّ ﷺ قَال لاَ يَبِعْ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قال تنام عيناي ولاَ ينام قلبي

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قال لا تسموا العنب الكرم

عَنِ النَّبِي ﷺ قَالَ لا تصروا الإبل والغنم

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا نِكَاحَ إِلَّا بِوَلِيٍّ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "There is no marriage without a guardian and the ruler is the guardian for the one who has no guardian."

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no marriage without a guardian and the ruler is the guardian for those who have no guardian."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا نِكَاحَ إِلَّا بِوَلِيٍّ وَالسُّلْطَانُ وَلِيُّ مَنْ لَا وَلِيَّ لَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no marriage without a guardian."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا نِكَاحَ إِلَّا بِوَلِيٍّ هَكَذَا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no marriage except with the presence of a guardian and likewise."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا نِكَاحَ إِلَّا بِوَلِيٍّ وَكَذَلِكَ

The Prophet ﷺ said: There is no marriage without the permission of a guardian. Abu Dawud said: The narrator Yunus also transmitted on the authority of Abu Burdah, and Isra'il narrated from Abu Ishaq on the authority of Abu Burdah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2085)

النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا نِكَاحَ إِلَّا بِوَلِيٍّ

[AI] That the Prophet ﷺ said: "The one who is accused is more deserving of the right-hand testimony than the one who has not been presented with clear evidence."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمُدَّعَى عَلَيْهِ أَوْلَى بِالْيَمِينِ مِمَّنْ لَمْ تَقُمْ لَهُ بَيِّنَةٌ

"المُدَّعَى عليه أوْلَى باليمين إِذا لم يَكُنْ بيِّنةٌ".

"المُدعَى عليه أوْلَى باليمينِ ممن لم تَقم له بيِّنة".

"قَضَى أَنَّ الْيَمِينَ عَلَى الْمُدَّعَى عَلَيهِ".

"لا نِكَاحَ إِلا بِوَلِيٍّ، وَالسُّلطَانُ وَلِيُّ مَنْ لا وَلِيَّ لَهُ".
