He (the Prophet) said: Allah is altogether great; Allah is altogether great; Allah is altogether great; and praise be to Allah in abundance; and praise be to Allah is abundance; and praise be to Allah in abundance. Glory be to Allah in the morning and after (saying it three times). I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil, from his puffing up (nafkh), his spitting (nafth) and his evil suggestion (hamz). He (Amr) said: His nafth it poetry, his nafkh is pride, and his hamz is madness.

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up to pray at night (for tahajjud prayer) he uttered the takbir and then said: "Glory be to Thee, O Allah," and "Praise be to Thee" and "Blessed is Thy name," and Exalted is Thy greatness." and "There is no god but Thee." He then said: "There is no god but Allah" three times; he then said: "Allah is altogether great" three times: "I seek refuge in Allah, All-Hearing and All-Knowing from the accursed devil, from his evil suggestion (hamz), from his puffing up (nafkh), and from his spitting (nafth)" He then recited (the Qur'an). Abu Dawud said: It is said that this tradition has been narrated by 'Ali b. 'Ali from al-Hasan omitting the name of the Companion of the Prophet ﷺ. The misunderstanding occurred on the part of Ja'far.

'Glorious You are O Allah, and with Your praise, and blesses is Your Name, and exalted is Your majesty, and none has the right to be worshipped but You' Then he would say: (A'udhu Bilahi As-Sami'il-Alimi min Ash-Shaitanir-Rajimi, min Hamzihi Wa Nafkhihi wa Nafthihi.)" 'Allah is undoubtedly the greatest.' (Allahu Akbaru Kabira). Then he would say: 'I seek refuge in Allah the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the cursed Shaitan, from his madness, his arrogance, and his poetry.'

Jabir saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ observing prayer. (The narrator Amr said: I do not know which prayer he was offering.) He (the Prophet) said: Allah is altogether great; Allah is altogether great; Allah is altogether great; and praise be to Allah in abundance; and praise be to Allah is abundance; and praise be to Allah in abundance. Glory be to Allah in the morning and after (saying it three times). I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil, from his puffing up (nafkh), his spitting (nafth) and his evil suggestion (hamz). He (Amr) said: His nafth it poetry, his nafkh is pride, and his hamz is madness. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 764)

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up to pray at night (for tahajjud prayer) he uttered the takbir and then said: "Glory be to Thee, O Allah," and "Praise be to Thee" and "Blessed is Thy name," and Exalted is Thy greatness." and "There is no god but Thee." He then said: "There is no god but Allah" three times; he then said: "Allah is altogether great" three times: "I seek refuge in Allah, All-Hearing and All-Knowing from the accursed devil, from his evil suggestion (hamz), from his puffing up (nafkh), and from his spitting (nafth)" He then recited (the Qur'an). Abu Dawud said: It is said that this tradition has been narrated by 'Ali b. 'Ali from al-Hasan omitting the name of the Companion of the Prophet ﷺ. كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَكَبَّرَ ثُمَّ قَالَ سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ وَلَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ثَلَاثًا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ثَلَاثًا أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ مِنْ هَمْزِهِ وَنَفْثِهِ وَنَفْخِهِ

"كان النبى ﷺ إِذَا كَبَّرَ لِلصَّلَاةِ قَالَ: سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ، وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ، وَلَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ، فَإِذَا تَعَوَّذَ قَالَ: أَعُوذُ بِالله مِنْ هَمْزَةِ الشَّيْطَانِ وَنَفْخِهِ وَنَفْثِهِ".

[قط] الدارقطنى في السنن وقال: رفعه عبد الرحمن بن عمر بن شيبة عن أبيه، والمحفوظ عن عمر من قوله، وهو الصواب، قال الذهبى: عمر بن شيبة قال أبو حاتم: مجهول، وقال الحافظ ابن حجر في اللسان: وقد ذكره ابن حبان في الثقات، ونقل المنذرى عن أبى حاتم أنه وثقه، قلت: يحتمل أن يكون مراد المنذرى، بأبى حاتم بن حبان فإنه أيضًا يكنى أبا حاتم، فلا يناقض ما نقله الذهبى عن أبى حاتم الرازى، وقد رواه موقوفا على عمر بن الخطاب: الطحاوي، [قط] الدارقطنى في السنن [ك] الحاكم في المستدرك وقال: قد روى مرفوعا عن عمر ولا يصح
