[Machine] The fasting of Malik ibn Abdullah al-Khathami was calculated, and it was found to be sixty years.
حُسِبَ صِيَامُ مَالِكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخَثْعَمِيِّ فَوُجِدَ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً
[Machine] The fasting of Malik ibn Abdullah al-Khathami was calculated, and it was found to be sixty years.
حُسِبَ صِيَامُ مَالِكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخَثْعَمِيِّ فَوُجِدَ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً
[Machine] "That crying has ten parts, nine of which are insincere and one is for Allah. So when that one that is for Allah comes once a year, it is considered abundant."
أَنَّ الْبُكَاءَ عَشْرَةُ أَجْزَاءٍ تِسْعَةٌ رِيَاءٌ وَوَاحِدٌ لِلَّهِ ﷻ فَإِذَا جَاءَ الْوَاحِدُ الَّذِي لِلَّهِ ﷻ فِي السَّنَةِ مَرَّةً فَهُوَ كَثِيرٌ
[Machine] To do something good and humble oneself in front of people as if you were lower than a cow, but without despising them.
أَنْ تَعْمَلَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ فَأَنْزِلِ النَّاسَ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْبَقَرِ إِلَّا أَنَّكَ لَا تَحْقِرُهُمْ
لَأَنْ اللَّهَ ﷻ تَسَمَّى بِهِ
[Machine] We used to walk with our father in his procession, and he would say to us, "Say ‘Subhanallah’ until you reach that tree," so we would glorify God until we reached that tree. Then, when another tree was lifted for us, he would say, "Say ‘Allahu Akbar’ until you reach that tree," so we would say the takbir until we reached that tree. And he would do this with us.
كُنَّا نَسِيرُ مَعَ أَبِينَا فِي مَوْكِبِهِ فَيَقُولُ لَنَا سَبِّحُوا حَتَّى تَأْتُوا تِلْكَ الشَّجَرَةَ فَنُسَبِّحُ حَتَّى نَأْتِيَ تِلْكَ الشَّجَرَةَ فَإِذَا رُفِعَتْ لَنَا شَجَرَةٌ أُخْرَى قَالَ كَبِّرُوا حَتَّى تَأْتُوا تِلْكَ الشَّجَرَةَ فَنُكَبِّرُ فَكَانَ يَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ بِنَا
[Machine] "He used to say, whoever is pleased with immorality, then he is one of its people. And whoever is pleased with disobedience to Allah, his deeds will not be elevated for him. Abdullah bin Shumayt said, I heard my father say, the capital of a believer is his religion. Wherever he goes, it goes with him. It does not leave him during journeys and he is not safe from people."
كَانَ يَقُولُ مَنْ رَضِيَ بِالْفِسْقِ فَهُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ وَمَنْ رَضِيَ أَنْ يُعْصَى اللَّهُ لَمْ يُرْفَعْ لَهُ عَمَلٌ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شُمَيْطٍ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ رَأْسُ مَالِ الْمُؤْمِنِ دِينُهُ حَيْثُمَا زَالَ زَالَ مَعَهُ لَا يُخَلِّفُهُ فِي الرِّحَالِ وَلَا يَأْمَنُ عَلَيْهِ الرِّجَالَ
When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up to pray at night (for tahajjud prayer) he uttered the takbir and then said: "Glory be to Thee, O Allah," and "Praise be to Thee" and "Blessed is Thy name," and Exalted is Thy greatness." and "There is no god but Thee." He then said: "There is no god but Allah" three times; he then said: "Allah is altogether great" three times: "I seek refuge in Allah, All-Hearing and All-Knowing from the accursed devil, from his evil suggestion (hamz), from his puffing up (nafkh), and from his spitting (nafth)" He then recited (the Qur'an). Abu Dawud said: It is said that this tradition has been narrated by 'Ali b. 'Ali from al-Hasan omitting the name of the Companion of the Prophet ﷺ. The misunderstanding occurred on the part of Ja'far. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 775)
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَكَبَّرَ ثُمَّ قَالَ سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ وَلَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ثَلَاثًا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ثَلَاثًا أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ مِنْ هَمْزِهِ وَنَفْثِهِ وَنَفْخِهِ
[Machine] Beware of the fire of the believer, lest it burn you. For if he stumbles seven times in a day, his hand will be in the hand of Allah, reviving him whenever He wills.
اتَّقِ نَارَ الْمُؤْمِنِ لَا تَحْرِقْكَ فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ عَثَرَ فِي الْيَوْمِ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ كَانَتْ يَدُهُ بِيَدِ اللَّهِ ﷻ يُنْعِشُهُ إِذَا شَاءَ
[Machine] When Ayoub took, he took in moderation, and when he gave, he gave generously.
كَانَ أَيُّوبُ إِذَا أَخَذَ أَخَذَ نَاقِصًا وَإِذَا أَعْطَى أَعْطَى وَازِنًا
[Machine] The one who sits with a group of people and then leaves them, greets their participation in the good they do afterwards.
أَنَّ مَنْ جَلَسَ إِلَى قَوْمٍ ثُمَّ قَامَ عَنْهُمْ فَسَلَّمَ شَرَكَهُمْ فِيمَا عَمِلُوا بَعْدَهُ مِنْ خَيْرٍ
[Machine] "We counted those who were imprisoned by Al-Hajjaj in the province of Sulayman and found them to be thirty-three thousand. None of them had ever been subjected to amputation or crucifixion."
According to Damrah, from Al-Awza'i, from Al-Qasim ibn Muhaymirah, he said: "I would rather step on burning coals until they extinguish or on thorns until they pierce through, than step on the grave of a Muslim."
According to Damrah, from Yahya ibn Abi Amr al-Saybani, he said: "Raja' ibn Haywah used to delay the Asr prayer and would pray between Dhuhr and Asr."
According to Damrah, from Ali ibn Abi Hamalah, he said: "Abdullah ibn Abd al-Malik wanted me to be in his company, so I consulted Abdullah ibn Abi Zakariyah about that, and he said to me: 'You are a free man, do you want to make yourself a slave?'"
«أَحْصَيْنَا مَنْ فِي سُجُونِ الْحَجَّاجِ فِي وِلَايَةِ سُلَيْمَانَ فَوَجَدْنَاهُمْ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ أَلْفًا لَمْ يَحِلَّ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ قَطْعٌ وَلَا صَلْبٌ»
وعَنْ ضَمْرَةَ، عَنِ الأوْزاعِيِّ، عَنِ القاسِمِ بْنِ مُخَيْمِرَةَ قالَ: «لَأنْ أطَّأ عَلى جَمْرَةٍ حَتّى تُطْفَأ أوْ عَلى سِنانٍ حَتّى تَنْفُذَ أحَبُّ إلَيَّ مِن أنْ أطَّأ عَلى قَبْرِ مُسْلِمٍ»
وعَنْ ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ يَحْيى بْنِ أبِي عَمْرٍو السَّيْبانِيِّ قالَ: كانَ رَجاءُ بْنُ حَيْوَةَ يَرى تَأْخِيرَ العَصْرِ، وكانَ يُصَلِّي ما بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ والعَصْرِ
وعَنْ ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أبِي حَمَلَةَ قالَ: أرادَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ المَلِكِ عَلى صُحْبَتِهِ فَشاوَرْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أبِي زَكَرِيّا فِي ذَلِكَ فَقالَ لِي: «أنْتَ حُرٌّ تُرِيدُ أنْ تَجْعَلَ نَفْسَكَ عَبْدًا»
[Machine] "Ilyas and Al-Khidr, peace be upon them, fast in the month of Ramadan in Jerusalem and they visit the holy site every year."
«إِلْيَاسُ وَالْخَضِرُ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ يَصُومَانِ شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ بِبَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ وَيُوَافِيَانِ الْمَوْسِمَ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ»
[Machine] The people of Paradise will reach the gate of Paradise and indeed they will notice, like the way one might notice cows. Then, when they enter it, Allah will remove any ill feelings from their hearts, and they will become brothers.
«يَنْتَهِي أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ إِلَى بَابِ الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَتَلَاحَظُونَ تَلَاحُظَ الثِّيرَانِ فَإِذَا دَخَلُوهَا نَزَعَ اللَّهُ مَا فِي صُدُورِهِمْ مِنْ غِلٍّ فَصَارُوا إِخْوَانًا»
