[Machine] He informed me that Zaid bin Thabit said to me, "Why don't you recite in the Maghrib prayer the Surahs of shorter length? Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the Maghrib prayer the Surahs of lengthy length." I said to 'Urwa, "What are the Surahs of lengthy length?" He said, "It is Al-A'raf and those similar to it."  

أحمد:٢١٦٤٦ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ يُحَدِّثُ يَقُولُ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ مَرْوَانَ

أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ قَالَ لِي زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ مَا لَكَ تَقْرَأُ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ بِقِصَارِ الْمُفَصَّلِ؟ لَقَدْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْمَغْرِبِ طُولَى الطُّولَيَيْنِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِعُرْوَةَ مَا طُولَى الطُّولَيَيْنِ؟ قَالَ الْأَعْرَافُ

Zaid b. Thabit asked me: Why do you recite short surahs in the sunset prayer? I saw the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) reciting two long surahs at the sunset prayers. I asked him: which are those two long surahs? He replied: Al-A’raf(surah vii) and al-an’am(surah vi). I ( the narrator Ibn Juraij) asked Ibn Mulaikah (about these surahs): He said on his own accord: Al-ma’idah (surah v.) and al-A’raf(furah vii.)  

أبو داود:٨١٢ – حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ قَالَ قَالَ

Zaid bin Thabit said: "Why do I see you reciting short surahs in Maghrib when I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting the longer of the two long surahs in it?" I said: "O Abu Abdullah, what is the longer of the two long surahs?" He said: "Al-A'raf." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 990)

[Machine] For Zaid bin Thabit: What makes you read in prayer with a relatively short recitation? I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting with two long surahs. I asked, "What are these two long surahs?" He said, "Al-A'raf and Yunus."

[Machine] Abu Asim al-Nabil narrated that Ibn Jurayj informed him, from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, from Urwah, from Marwan, who said: Zaid ibn Thabit asked me, "Why do you not recite in the Maghrib prayer the Muqatta' (shortened) Surahs? Verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the Maghrib prayer the two long Surahs." So, I asked Urwah, "What are the two long Surahs?" He said, "Al-A'raf." Then, I asked Ibn Abi Mulaykah, "What are the two long Surahs?" He said, "Al-An'am and Al-A'raf."  

البيهقي:٤٠٣٦ – أنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ
