Jabir ibn 'Abdullah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Lock the doors, tie the water-skins, turn over the vessels, cover the vessels, and put out the lamps. Shaytan does not open a locked door, nor untie a water-skin, nor uncover a vessel. A mouse can cause a house to burn down with its inhabitants inside it."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَغْلِقُوا الأَبْوَابَ وَأَوْكُوا السِّقَاءَ وَأَكْفِئُوا الإِنَاءَ وَخَمِّرُوا الإِنَاءَ وَأَطْفِئُوا الْمِصْبَاحَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لاَ يَفْتَحُ غَلَقًا وَلاَ يَحُلُّ وِكَاءً وَلاَ يَكْشِفُ إِنَاءً وَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ تُضْرِمُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بَيْتَهُمْ

Do not let your animals and children go out when the sun sets until the first and the darkest part of the night is over, for the Satan is let loose with the sinking of the sun until the darkest part of the night is over.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ تُرْسِلُوا فَوَاشِيَكُمْ وَصِبْيَانَكُمْ إِذَا غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ فَحْمَةُ الْعِشَاءِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ تَنْبَعِثُ إِذَا غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ فَحْمَةُ الْعِشَاءِ

Jabir b.’Abd Allah reported the Prophet ﷺas saying this version is not complete ‘’for the devil does not open a shut door, or loosen a water-skin, or uncover a vessel, for a mouse sets a house on fire over its inhabitants’’.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِهَذَا الْخَبَرِ وَلَيْسَ بِتَمَامِهِ قَالَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لاَ يَفْتَحُ بَابًا غَلَقًا وَلاَ يَحُلُّ وِكَاءً وَلاَ يَكْشِفُ إِنَاءً وَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ تُضْرِمُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بَيْتَهُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتَهُمْ

That the Prophet ﷺ said: "Close the door, tie the water-skin, turn over the vessel, or cover the vessel, and extinguish the torch. Indeed Ash-Shaitan does not open what is closed, nor undo what is fastened, nor uncover a vessel, but the small vermin may cause a fire in people's houses." He said: There are narrations on this topic from Ibn 'Umar, Abu Hurairah, and Ibn 'Abbas.

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَغْلِقُوا الْبَابَ وَأَوْكِئُوا السِّقَاءَ وَأَكْفِئُوا الإِنَاءَ أَوْ خَمِّرُوا الإِنَاءَ وَأَطْفِئُوا الْمِصْبَاحَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لاَ يَفْتَحُ غُلُقًا وَلاَ يَحِلُّ وِكَاءً وَلاَ يَكْشِفُ آنِيَةً وَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ تُضْرِمُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بَيْتَهُمْ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Close your doors, cover your utensils, turn off your lights, and plug your water containers. Surely, Satan does not open a closed door, reveal a covered object, untie a tied knot, and a mouse can set a house on fire."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَغْلِقُوا أَبْوَابَكُمْ وَخَمِّرُوا آنِيَتَكُمْ وَأَطْفِئُوا سُرُجَكُمْ وَأَوْكُوا أَسْقِيَتَكُمْ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَفْتَحُ بَابًا مُغْلَقًا وَلَا يَكْشِفُ غِطَاءً وَلَا يَحُلُّ وِكَاءً وَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ تُضْرِمُ الْبَيْتَ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ يَعْنِي الْفَأْرَةَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تُرْسِلُوا فَوَاشِيَكُمْ وَصِبْيَانَكُمْ إِذَا غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ فَحْمَةُ الْعِشَاءِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ تَعْبَثُ إِذَا غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ فَحْمَةُ الْعِشَاءِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Close the doors, extinguish the lamps, cover the containers, and put out the fires. Verily, the devil does not open a closed door, nor undo a knot, nor remove a lid. And indeed, the sinful people inflame the fire upon the people of the house. So, do not send out your children and your little ones when the sun sets until the darkness of the night disappears. Verily, the devils are released when the sun sets until the darkness of the night disappears."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَغْلِقُوا الْأَبْوَابَ وَأَوْكُوا الْأَسْقِيَةَ وَخَمِّرُوا الْآنِيَةَ وَأَطْفِئُوا السُّرُجَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَفْتَحُ غَلَقًا وَلَا يَحُلُّ وِكَاءً وَلَا يَكْشِفُ إِنَاءً وَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ تُضْرِمُ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ وَلَا تُرْسِلُوا فَوَاشِيَكُمْ وَصِبْيَانَكُمْ إِذَا غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ فَحْمَةُ الْعِشَاءِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ تُبْعَثُ إِذَا غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ فَحْمَةُ الْعِشَاءِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zubayr al-Makki from Jabir ibn Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Lock the door, tie the waterskin, turn the vessel over or cover it, and put out the lamp. Shaytan does not open a locked door or untie a tied knot, or uncover a vessel. A mouse may set fire to people's houses about them."

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Close the doors, cover the containers, put out the lamps, for indeed, Shaytan does not open a closed door, nor untie a tied knot, nor uncover a container. And verily, the sinful person sets fire to people's homes."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «أَغْلِقُوا الْأَبْوَابَ وَأَوْكُوا السِّقَاءَ وَخَمِّرُوا الْإِنَاءَ وَأَطْفِئُوا الْمِصْبَاحَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَفْتَحُ غَلَقًا وَلَا يَحُلُّ وِكَاءً وَلَا يَكْشِفُ إِنَاءً وَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ تُضْرِمُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بَيْتَهُمْ»

[AI] We have the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Close your doors, extinguish your lamps, cover your utensils, and block all openings, for surely the devil does not open a closed door, nor untie a tied knot, nor uncover a covered vessel. And indeed, the evildoer may set his house on fire with his family inside. So, extinguish your lamps and protect your families until the darkness of the night has disappeared."

لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «غَلَّقُوا أَبْوَابَكُمْ وَأَوْكُوا أَسْقِيَتَكُمْ وَخَمِّرُوا آنِيَتَكُمْ وَأَطْفِئُوا سُرُجَكُمْ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَفْتَحُ غَلَقًا وَلَا يَحُلُّ وِكَاءً وَلَا يَكْشِفُ غِطَاءً وَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ رُبَّمَا أَضْرَمَتْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ بَيْتَهُمْ وَكُفُّوا فَوَاشِيَكُمْ* وَأَهْلِيكُمْ عِنْدَ غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ إِلَى أَنْ تَذْهَبَ فَجْوَةُ الْعِشَاءِ»

[AI] "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Cover the container, plug the water container, close the doors, and extinguish the lamp, for indeed, the devil does not untie a knot, uncover a container, or open a door."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ غَطُّوا الْإِنَاءَ وَأَوْكُوا السِّقَاءَ وَأَغْلِقُوا الْأَبْوَابَ وَأَطْفِئُوا السِّرَاجَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَحِلُّ سِقَاءً وَلَا يَكْشِفُ إِنَاءً وَلَا يَفْتَحُ بَابًا

"أَغْلِقُوا أبْوَابِكُمْ، وَخمِّروا آنيَتَكُمْ، وَأَطفِئُوا سُرُجَكُمْ، وأوْكِئُوا أسقيتكُمْ، فَإِنَّ الشيطانَ لا يفْتَحُ بابا مُغْلقًا، ولا يَكشِفُ غِطَاءً، ولا يَحُلَّ وكاءً، وإن الفُوَيسَقَة تُضْرِمُ البيتَ على أَهْلِهِ".

That the Prophet ﷺ said: "Close the door, tie the water-skin, turn over the vessel, or cover the vessel, and extinguish the torch. "أغلِقُوا الأبْوَابِ، وأوْكِئُوا السِّقَاءَ، وأكفِئُوا الإِنَاءَ، وَخَمِّرُوا الإِناءَ، وأطفِئُوا المِصْباحَ، فإِنَّ الشيطانَ لا يفتح غَلَقًا، ولا يحُلُّ وكاءً، ولا يَكْشِفُ إِناءً، وإن الفُويسِقةَ تَضْرِمُ على النَّاسِ بَيتَهُمْ".

"لا تُرْسِلُوا فَوَاشِيَكُمْ وَصِبيانَكُمْ إِذَا غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ فَحْمَةُ العِشَاءِ، فَإِنَّ الشياطِينَ تَنْبَعِثُ إِذَا غَابَتِ الشمْسُ حَتَّى تَذهَبَ فَحْمَةُ العِشَاءِ".
