We came with Messenger of Allah ﷺ (to Mecca) and we were saying: 'Labbaika Allahumma Labbaik' for Hajj. Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to perform ʿUmra with that Ihram (instead of Hajj).

حَدَّثَنَا جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ؓ قَدِمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ نَقُولُ لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ بِالْحَجِّ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَجَعَلْنَاهَا عُمْرَةً

We set out with Messenger of Allah ﷺ as Muhrim for Hajj. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to make this Ihram for Umra, and some put it off (after performing 'Umra), but the Prophet ﷺ had sacrificial animals with him, so he could not make it (this Ihram) as that of Umra.

قَدِمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُهِلِّينَ بِالْحَجِّ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَجْعَلَهَا عُمْرَةً وَنَحِلَّ قَالَ وَكَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْىُ فَلَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ يَجْعَلَهَا عُمْرَةً

We came with the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) pronouncing Talbiya for Hajj, and the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) commanded us to make (our Ihram) into that of Umra.

قَدِمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ نَقُولُ لَبَّيْكَ بِالْحَجِّ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَجْعَلَهَا عُمْرَةً

We went out with Messenger of Allah ﷺ pronouncing loudly the Talbiya for Hajj When we came to Mecca, he commanded us that we should change this (Ihram for Hajj) to that of Umra except one who had brought the sacrificial animal with him. When it was the day of Tarwiya (8th of Dhul-Hijja) and we went to Mini, we (again) pronounced Talbiya for Hajj.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَصْرُخُ بِالْحَجِّ صُرَاخًا فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَجْعَلَهَا عُمْرَةً إِلاَّ مَنْ سَاقَ الْهَدْىَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ التَّرْوِيَةِ وَرُحْنَا إِلَى مِنًى أَهْلَلْنَا بِالْحَجِّ

[AI] "We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while reciting 'Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk' (Here I am, O Allah, here I am) for Hajj. So he commanded us and we made it Umrah."

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُنَقُولُ لَبَّيْكَ بِالْحَجِّ فَأَمَرَنَا فَجَعَلْنَاهَا عُمْرَةً

[AI] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as pilgrims and performed the pilgrimage. When we reached Makkah, he commanded us to perform Umrah.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حُجَّاجًا فَأَهْلَلْنَا بِالْحَجِّ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَجْعَلَهَا عُمْرَةً

[AI] Sahl ibn Hunaif used to say: "I have not seen anyone like the one who does not accuse his own judgment. We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for Hajj, and when we arrived in Makkah, he commanded us to make it an 'Umrah."

أَنَّ سَهْلَ بْنَ حُنَيْفٍ كَانَ يَقُولُ مَا رَأَيْتُ مِثْلَ مَنْ لَمْ يَتَّهِمْ رَأْيَهُ «خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حُجَّاجًا فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَجْعَلَهَا عُمْرَةً»
