[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ headed towards Khaibar and we reached there at night. When we woke up in the morning, he mounted his ride and the Muslims mounted theirs. I rode behind Abu Talha and my feet touched the feet of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The people of Khaibar came out with their crops and goods. When they saw the Prophet ﷺ and the Muslims, they turned back hastily and said, "Muhammad and his army have come!" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah is the Greatest! Khaibar is destroyed. When we descend upon the people's land, it'll be an evil morning for those who were warned." (Surah As-Saffat 37:177)

Anas bin Malik said, "Whenever the Prophet ﷺ went out with us to fight (in Allah's cause) against any nation, he never allowed us to attack till morning and he would wait and see: if he heard Adhan he would postpone the attack and if he did not hear Adhan he would attack them." Anas added, "We reached Khaibar at night and in the morning when he did not hear the Adhan for the prayer, he (the Prophet ) rode and I rode behind Abi Talha and my foot was touching that of the Prophet. The inhabitants of Khaibar came out with their baskets and spades and when they saw the Prophet ﷺ they shouted 'Muhammad! By Allah, Muhammad and his army.' When Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw them, he said, "Allahu-Akbar! Allahu-Akbar! Khaibar is ruined. Whenever we approach a (hostile) nation (to fight), then evil will be the morning of those who have been warned."

The Prophet ﷺ set out for Khaibar and reached it at night. He used not to attack if he reached the people at night, till the day broke. So, when the day dawned, the Jews came out with their bags and spades. When they saw the Prophet; they said, "Muhammad and his army!" The Prophet ﷺ said, Allahu--Akbar! The Prophet ﷺ reached Khaibar in the morning, while the people were coming out carrying their spades over their shoulders. When they saw him they said, "This is Muhammad and his army! Muhammad and his army!" So, they took refuge in the fort. The Prophet ﷺ raised both his hands and said, "Allahu Akbar, Khaibar is ruined, for when we approach a nation (i.e. enemy to fight) then miserable is the morning of the warned ones." Then we found some donkeys which we (killed and) cooked: The announcer of the Prophet ﷺ announced: "Allah and His Apostle forbid you to eat donkey's meat." So, all the pots including their contents were turned upside down.

If he heard the call to prayer, he would stop, but if the people were not praying, he would become angry with them. When morning came, he and the Muslims mounted their rides. The people of the village came out with their ropes and tools. When they saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Muslims, they said, "By Allah and Al-Khamis, this is Muhammad!" Yahya related to me from Malik from Humayd at-Tawil from Anas ibn Malik that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to Khaybar, he arrived there at night, and when he came upon a people by night, he did not attack until morning. In the morning, the jews came out with their spades and baskets. When they saw him, they said, "Muhammad! By Allah, Muhammad and his army!" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said "Allah is greater! Khaybar is destroyed. When we come to a people, it is an evil morning for those who have been warned . "

Whenever we approach a (hostile) nation (to fight), then evil will be the morning of those who have been warned." (Using translation from Bukhārī 610)

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to approach a people, he would not surprise them until morning, and if he heard the call to prayer, he would stop, even if they were not praying, he would become angry with them in the morning.
