ahmad:10451 – Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh al-Anṣārī > Muḥammad b. ʿAmr > Abū Salamah > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not begin the month, meaning Ramadan, by a day or two, unless you see the crescent moon. Fast when you see it and break your fast when you see it. If it is cloudy and you cannot see it, then complete thirty days of Sha'ban and fast."

أحمد:١٠٤٥١ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَقَدَّمُوا الشَّهْرَ يَعْنِي رَمَضَانَ بِيَوْمٍ وَلَا يَوْمَيْنِ إِلَّا أَنْ يُوَافِقَ ذَلِكَ صَوْمًا كَانَ يَصُومُهُ أَحَدُكُمْ فَصُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْفَعُدُّوا ثَلَاثِينَ ثُمَّ أَفْطِرُوا

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمُ الشَّهْرُ فَعُدُّوا ثَلاَثِينَ

tirmidhi:684 – Abū Kurayb > ʿAbdah b. Sulaymān > Muḥammad b. ʿAmr > Abū Salamah > Abū Hurayrah

the Prophet said: "Do not precede the month with a day nor with two days, unless that fast falls on a day that one of you would have (normally) fasted. Fast with its sighting and break fast with its sighting, and if it is cloudy, then count for thirty days, and then break (the fast)."

الترمذي:٦٨٤ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ تَقَدَّمُوا الشَّهْرَ بِيَوْمٍ وَلاَ بِيَوْمَيْنِ إِلاَّ أَنْ يُوَافِقَ ذَلِكَ صَوْمًا كَانَ يَصُومُهُ أَحَدُكُمْ صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَعُدُّوا ثَلاَثِينَ ثُمَّ أَفْطِرُوا رَوَى مَنْصُورُ بْنُ الْمُعْتَمِرِ عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِنَحْوِ هَذَا قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ كَرِهُوا أَنْ يَتَعَجَّلَ الرَّجُلُ بِصِيَامٍ قَبْلَ دُخُولِ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ لِمَعْنَى رَمَضَانَ وَإِنْ كَانَ رَجُلٌ يَصُومُ صَوْمًا فَوَافَقَ صِيَامُهُ ذَلِكَ فَلاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ عِنْدَهُمْ

ahmad:9654 – Yaḥyá > Muḥammad > Abū Salamah > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet (PBUH), he said: "Do not start the month (of Ramadan) by a day or two unless one of you sees the new moon. Fast when you see it and break your fast when you see it. If it is cloudy and you cannot see it, complete thirty days of the month and then break your fast."

ذِكْرُ خَبَرٍ ثَانٍ يُصَرِّحُ بِأَنَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ أَنْ يُتِمُّوا صَوْمَ رَمَضَانَ ثَلَاثِينَ يَوْمًا عِنْدَ عَدَمِ رُؤْيَةِ هِلَالِ شَوَّالٍ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَعُدُّوا ثَلَاثِينَ يَوْمًا ثُمَّ أَفْطِرُوا»
