[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ , may Allah have mercy on him, a man stood up at night, Sufyan said, "No water is sprinkled on his face, he wipe his face instead."  

أحمد:٧٣٦٩قُرِئَ عَلَى سُفْيَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ رَحِمَ اللهُ رَجُلًا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ لَا يَرُشُّ فِي وَجْهِهِ تَمْسَحُهُ  

ahmad:7370Sufyān > Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Saʿīd b. Yasār > Abū Hurayrah

I have been commanded (to migrate) to a town (Medina) which would overpower other towns. They (the people) call it Yathrib; its correct name is (in fact) Medina. It eliminates (bad) people just as a furnace removes the alloy of iron. (Using translation from Muslim 1382a)  

أحمد:٧٣٧٠حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أُمِرْتُ بِقَرْيَةٍ تَأْكُلُ الْقُرَى يَقُولُونَ يَثْرِبُ وَهِيَ الْمَدِينَةُ تَنْفِي النَّاسَ كَمَا يَنْفِي الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ

[Machine] Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ prostrated when the sky split and said, "Read."  

أحمد:٧٣٧١حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَجَدَ فِي إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ وَاقْرَأْ

[Machine] "Whoever finds his wealth with a destitute person, he is more entitled to it."  

أحمد:٧٣٧٢حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَنْ وَجَدَ مَالَهُ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ مُفْلِسٍ فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهِ

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ it is narrated that a man should not drink from the mouth of a water skin.  

أحمد:٧٣٧٣حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ أُحَدِّثُكُمْ بِأَشْيَاءَ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قِصَارٍ لَا يَشْرَبِ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ فَمِ السِّقَاءِ

The Prophet ﷺ prostrated after the salam when he was not sure. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1235)   

أحمد:٧٣٧٤حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ سَجَدَهُمَا بَعْدَ التَّسْلِيمِ

[Machine] From Muhammad, the men and women argued about who is more in abundance in Paradise. Abu Huraira said that Abu Al-Qasim ﷺ said, "The first to enter Paradise will be like the full moon on a clear night, then those who follow them will be like the brightest star in the sky. Each man among them will have two wives, and the marrow of their legs will be visible through the flesh. And there will be no celibate in Paradise."  

أحمد:٧٣٧٥حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ

عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ اخْتَصَمَ الرِّجَالُ وَالنِّسَاءُ أَيُّهُمْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَكْثَرُ؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ أَوَّلُ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِثْلُ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ عَلَى أَضْوَإِ كَوْكَبٍ دُرِّيٍّ لِكُلِّ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ زَوْجَتَانِ اثْنَتَانِ يُرَى مُخُّ سَاقِهِمَا مِنْ وَرَاءِ اللَّحْمِ وَمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَعْزَبُ

[Machine] Abu Huraira narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I offered two Rak'ahs of the 'Isha prayer just before dawn and I assumed that it was the Fajr prayer. Then I offered two Rak'ahs, sat near a pillar and became angry. Sufyan added: Then he (the Messenger of Allah) came to the trunk of a date-palm tree and offered two Rak'ahs so as to make up the missed ones and then asked for permission to enter the house and smiled. Aisha said: "The wives of the Prophet ﷺ laughed till the veil of my lady-partition (screen) shook with laughter."  

أحمد:٧٣٧٦حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ سَمِعَ أَيُّوبُ مُحَمَّدَ ابْنَ سِيرِينَ

يَقُولُسَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِحْدَى صَلَاتَيِ الْعَشِيِّ إِمَّا الظُّهْرُ أَوِ الْعَصْرَ وَأَكْثَرُ ظَنِّي أَنَّهَا الْعَصْرُ فَسَلَّمَ فِي اثْنَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَتَى جِذْعًا كَانَ يُصَلِّي إِلَيْهِ فَجَلَسَ إِلَيْهِ مُغْضَبًا وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً ثُمَّ أَتَى جِذْعًا فِي الْقِبْلَةِ كَانَ يُسْنِدُ إِلَيْهِ ظَهْرَهُ فَأَسْنَدَ إِلَيْهِ ظَهْرَهُ قَالَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ سُرْعَانُ النَّاسِ فَقَالُوا قُصِرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَفِي الْقَوْمِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ فَهَابَاهُ أَنْ يُكَلِّمَاهُ فَقَالَ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ قصِرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ أَمْ نَسِيتَ؟ قَالَ مَا قُصِرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَمَا نَسِيتُ قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَالَ فَنَظَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا نَعَمْ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ وَسَجَدَ كَسَجْدَتِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ وَكَبَّرَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ وَكَبَّرَ

[Machine] "From the Prophet ﷺ : Be called by my name, and do not use my title (Kunya)."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ تَسَمَّوْا بِاسْمِي وَلَا تَكَنَّوْا بِكُنْيَتِي

أحمد:٧٣٧٨حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ تَسَمَّوْا بِاسْمِي وَلَا تَكَنَّوْا بِكُنْيَتِي

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ commanded killing the two black ones during prayer; the scorpion and the snake. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1245)  

أحمد:٧٣٧٩حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَفِظْتُهُ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَهُعَنْ ضَمْضَمٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْأَسْوَدَيْنِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ الْعَقْرَبِ وَالْحَيَّةِ

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , he said: "Yes, whoever purchases a piece of land or a garden, he has the choice. If he wishes to return it, he may return it. And if he wishes to keep it, he may keep it."  

أحمد:٧٣٨٠حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ قِيلَ لِسُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قِيلَ لَهُ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ مَنِ ابْتَاعَ مُحَفَّلَةً أَوْ مُصَرَّاةً فَهُوَ بِالْخِيَارِ فَإِنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يَرُدَّهَا فَلْيَرُدَّهَا وَإِنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُمْسِكَهَا أَمْسَكَهَا

He who came to this House (Ka'ba) (with the intention of performing Pilgrimage), and neither spoke indecently nor did he act wickedly. would return (free from sin) as on the (very first day) his mother bore him. (Using translation from Muslim 1350a)  

أحمد:٧٣٨١حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مَنْ أَمَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتَ فَلَمْ يَرْفُثْ وَلَمْ يَفْسُقْ رَجَعَ كَيَوْمِ وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ

[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrated and repeated it, the slave asked Abu Hurairah, who said: Allah says, 'Pride is my cloak and honor is my garment. Whoever contends with me regarding any of them, I will throw him into the Fire.'"  

أحمد:٧٣٨٢حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنِ الْأَغَرِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ أَعَادَهُ فَقَالَ الْأَغَرِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ اللهُ ﷻ الْكِبْرِيَاءُ رِدَائِي وَالْعِزَّةُ إِزَارِي فَمَنْ نَازَعَنِي وَاحِدًا مِنْهُمَا أُلْقِهِ فِي النَّارِ

[Machine] "From the Prophet ﷺ , the most truthful statement said by the poet [Al-Bahr Al-Taweel]: Indeed, everything except Allah is void, and the son of Abu Salat was about to surrender."  

أحمد:٧٣٨٣حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَصْدَقُ بَيْتٍ قَالَهُ الشَّاعِرُ[البحر الطويل]أَلَا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مَا خَلَا اللهَ بَاطِلُوَكَادَ ابْنُ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ يُسْلِمُ

[Machine] Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray while standing, sitting, barefoot, and wearing shoes.  

أحمد:٧٣٨٤حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَوْبَرِ

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي قَائِمًا وَقَاعِدًا وَحَافِيًا وَمُنْتَعِلًا

وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ

[Machine] When the verse "Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it" [An-Nisa 123] was revealed, it caused distress among the Muslims and reached a point where it led to complaints being made to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told them to draw near and strive to do righteous deeds. He informed them that every affliction a Muslim faces serves as expiation for his sins, even a thorn that pricks him.  

أحمد:٧٣٨٦حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ مُحَيْصِنٍ شَيْخٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ سَهْمِيٌّ سَمِعَهُ مِنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {مَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا يُجْزَ بِهِ} [النساء 123] شَقَّتْ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَبَلَغَتْ مِنْهُمْ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْتَبْلُغَ فَشَكَوْا ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَارِبُوا وَسَدِّدُوا فَكُلُّ مَا يُصَابُ بِهِ الْمُسْلِمُ كَفَّارَةٌ حَتَّى النَّكْبَةِ يُنْكَبُهَا وَالشَّوْكَةِ يُشَاكُهَا

"I heard Abu Hurairah narrating that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Adam and Musa debated, and Musa said to him: "O Adam, you are our father but have deprived us and caused us to be expelled from Paradise because of your sin." Adam said to him: "O Musa, Allah chose you to speak with, and he wrote the Tawrah for you with His own Hand. Are you blaming me for something which Allah decreed for me forty years before He created me?" Thus Adam won the argument with Musa, thus Adam won the argument with Musa.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 80)   

أحمد:٧٣٨٧حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو سَمِعَ طَاوُسًا سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُونَا خَيَّبْتَنَا وَأَخْرَجْتَنَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ يَا مُوسَى أَنْتَ اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِكَلَامِهِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَخَطَّ لَكَ بِيَدِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدَّرَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً؟ قَالَ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى  

ahmad:7388Sufyān > ʿAmr > Yaḥyá b. Jaʿdah > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr al-Qārī > Abū Hurayrah > Lā And Rab Hadhā al-Bayt Mā

[Machine] I heard Abu Hurairah saying, "No, by the Lord of this house, I did not say that if someone wakes up in a state of Janaabah (impurity), then Muhammad ﷺ does not fast." And by the Lord of this house, I also did not prohibit fasting on Friday, Muhammad ﷺ prohibited it."  

أحمد:٧٣٨٨حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْقَارِيِّ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ لَا وَرَبِّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ مَا أَنَا قُلْتُ مَنْ أَصْبَحَ جُنُبًا فَلَا يَصُومُ مُحَمَّدٌ وَرَبِّ الْبَيْتِ قَالَهُ مَا أَنَا نَهَيْتُ عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ مُحَمَّدٌ نَهَى عَنْهُ وَرَبِّ الْبَيْتِ

that the heard Abu Hurairah say: "None of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrated more Ahadith from him than me, except 'Abdullah bin 'Amr. For he used to write them down and I did not write." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2668)   

أحمد:٧٣٨٩حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنِ ابْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ يَعْنِي وَهْبًا عَنْ أَخِيهِ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ أَكْثَرَ حَدِيثًا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنِّي إِلَّا عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَكْتُبُ وَكُنْتُ لَا أَكْتُبُ

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ : Whoever finds his property with a bankrupt person, he has more right to it.  

أحمد:٧٣٩٠حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَيَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَنْ وَجَدَ مَالَهُ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ مُفْلِسٍ فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهِ

[Machine] Once, I heard it from a Bedouin man. I heard Abu Huraira saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever recites Surah Al-Mursalat and says {Then by what statement after it will they believe?} [Quran 77:50], then let him say 'We have believed in Allah.' And whoever recites Surah At-Tin and Az-Zaytun and says 'Yes, I do', then I am one of the witnesses to that. And whoever recites {Is not He Who is able to give life to the dead?} [Quran 75:40] then let him say 'Yes'."  

أحمد:٧٣٩١حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ سَمِعَهُ مِنْ شَيْخٍ فَقَالَ

مَرَّةً سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ أَعْرَابِيٍّ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ قَرَأَ وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا فَقَالَ {فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ} [المرسلات 50] فَلْيَقُلْ آمَنَّا بِاللهِ وَمَنْ قَرَأَ وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ فَلْيَقُلْ بَلَى وَأَنَا عَلَى ذَلِكَ مِنَ الشَّاهِدِينَ وَمَنْ قَرَأَ {أَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَى أَنْ يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَى} [القيامة 40] فَلْيَقُلْ بَلَى

The Prophet ﷺ said: When one of you prays, he should put something in front of his face, and if he can find nothing , he should set up his staff; but if he has no staff, he should draw a line; then what passes in front of him will not harm him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 689)

أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَجْعَلْ تِلْقَاءَ وَجْهِهِ شَيْئًا فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ شَيْئًا فَلْيَنْصِبْ عَصًا فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ عَصًا فَلْيَخُطَّ خَطًّا وَلَا يَضُرُّهُ مَا مَرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ

[Machine] "Regarding the Prophet ﷺ , if the slave woman of one of you commits fornication, and her fornication is proven, then she should be flogged with the punishment. However, he should not accuse her or shame her in the third or fourth pregnancy, but rather he should sell her even if it is for a strand of hair."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِذَا زَنَتْ أَمَةُ أَحَدِكُمْ فَتَبَيَّنَ زِنَاهَا فَلْيَجْلِدْهَا الْحَدَّ وَلَا يُثَرِّبْ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ لَا يُثَرِّبْ عَلَيْهَا لَا يُعَيِّرْهَا عَلَيْهَا فِي الثَّالِثَةِ أَوِ الرَّابِعَةِ فَلْيَبِعْهَا وَلَوْ بِضَفِيرٍ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'We are the last (to come) but will be the foremost on the Day of Resurrection, but they were given the Book before us and we were given it after them. They differed concerning this day which Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, had prescribed for them and Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, guided us to"--meaning Friday--"so the people follow us, the Jews the next day and the Christians the day after that.'" النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَحْنُ الْآخِرُونَ وَنَحْنُ السَّابِقُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بَيْدَ أَنَّ كُلَّ أُمَّةٍ أُوتِيَتِ الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا وَأُوتِينَاهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ ثُمَّ هَذَا الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي كَتَبَهُ اللهُ ﷻ عَلَيْهِمْ فَاخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ فَهَدَانَا اللهُ لَهُ فَالنَّاسُ لَنَا فِيهِ تَبَعٌ فَلِلْيَهُودِ غَدًا وَلِلنَّصَارَى بَعْدَ غَدٍ قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا بَيْدَ أَنَّ وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ بَايْدَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you pray after Jumu'ah, pray four rak'ahs. But if something urgent comes up for you, then pray two rak'ahs in the mosque and two rak'ahs when you return."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّيْتُمْ بَعْدَالْجُمُعَةِ فَصَلُّوا أَرْبَعًا فَإِنْ عَجِلَ بِكَ شَيْءٌ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ إِذَا رَجَعْتَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "We are the last ones to enter Paradise, but the first ones on the Day of Resurrection, even though the people before us were given the Book before us, and we were given it after them. And today is the day we were commanded to observe, but they disagreed about it. So Allah made it our holiday. So today belongs to us, tomorrow to the Jews, and the day after tomorrow to the Christians."  

أحمد:٧٤٠١حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْأَعْمَشَ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نَحْنُ الْآخِرُونَ السَّابِقُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بَيْدَ أَنَّهُمْ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا وَأُوتِينَاهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ وَهُوَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي أُمِرُوا بِهِ فَاخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ فَجَعَلَهُ اللهُ لَنَا عِيدًا فَالْيَوْمَ لَنَا وَغَدًا لِلْيَهُودِ وَبَعْدَ غَدٍ لِلنَّصَارَى

The Prophet ﷺ said: The most perfect believer in respect of faith is he who is best of them in manners. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4682)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been given comprehensive words and the Earth has been made as a masjid (place of worship) and a means of purification for me."  

أحمد:٧٤٠٣حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أُوتِيتُ جَوَامِعَ الْكَلِمِ وَجُعِلَتْ لِي الْأَرْضُ مَسْجِدًا وَطَهُورًا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The divorced woman is to be consulted about herself, and the virgin is to seek permission." They asked, "O Messenger of Allah, how does she seek permission?" He said, "By being silent."  

أحمد:٧٤٠٤حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الثَّيِّبُ تُسْتَأْمَرُ فِي نَفْسِهَا وَالْبِكْرُ تُسْتَأْذَنُ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ إِذْنُهَا؟ قَالَ أَنْ تَسْكُتَ  

ahmad:7405Ismāʿīl > al-Qāsim b. Mihrān > Abū Rāfiʿ > Abū Hurayrah

How Is it that someone amongst you stands before his Lord and then spits out in front of Him? Does any one of you like that he should be made to stand in front of someone and then spit at his face? So when any one of you spits, he must spit on his left side under his foot. But if he does not find (space to spit) he should do like this. Qasim (one of the narrators) spat in his cloth and then folded it and rubbed it. (Using translation from Muslim 550a)  

أحمد:٧٤٠٥حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ مَا بَالُ أَحَدِكُمْ يَقُومُ مُسْتَقْبِلَ رَبِّهِ فَيَتَنَخَّعُ أَمَامَهُ؟ أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُسْتَقْبَلَ فَيُتَنَخَّعَ فِي وَجْهِهِ؟ إِذَا تَنَخَّعَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَتَنَخَّعْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَلْيَتْفُلْ هَكَذَا فِي ثَوْبِهِ فَوَصَفَ الْقَاسِمُ فَتَفَلَ فِي ثَوْبِهِ ثُمَّ مَسْحَ بَعْضَهُ بِبَعْضٍ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever performs a prayer in which he does not recite Ummul Qur’an (the Mother of the Qur’an, i.e., Al- Fatihah), it is deficient; not complete.’” I said: ‘O Abu Hurairah, sometimes I am behind the Imam. He pressed my forearm and said: ‘O Persian! Recite it to yourself.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 838)   

أحمد:٧٤٠٦حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ أَنَّ أَبَا السَّائِبِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ صَلَّى صَلَاةً لَمْ يَقْرَأْ فِيهَا بِأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ فَهِيَ خِدَاجٌ هِيَ خِدَاجٌ هِيَ خِدَاجٌ غَيْرُ تَمَامٍ قُلْتُ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ إِنِّي أَكُونُ أَحْيَانًا وَرَاءَ الْإِمَامِ فَغَمَزَ ذِرَاعِي وَقَالَ يَا فَارِسِيُّ اقْرَأْ بِهَا فِي نَفْسِكَ  

ahmad:7407Jarīr b. ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd > ʿUmārah b. al-Qaʿqāʿ > Abū Zurʿah > Abū Hurayrah

A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: Messenger of Allah, which sadaqah (charity) is the best ? He replied: (The best sadaqah is) that you give something as sadaqah (charity) when you are healthy, greedy, expect survival and fear poverty, and not that you postpone it until your death. and then you say: For so-and-so is such-and-such, and for so-and-so is such-and-such, while it was already for so-and-so. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2865)   

أحمد:٧٤٠٧حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ لَتُنَبَّأَنَّ أَنْ تَصَدَّقَ وَأَنْتَ صَحِيحٌ شَحِيحٌ تَأْمُلُالْبَقَاءَ وَتَخَافُ الْفَقْرَ وَلَا تَمَهَّلْ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ قُلْتَ لِفُلَانٍ كَذَا وَلِفُلَانٍ كَذَا أَلَا وَقَدْ كَانَ لِفُلَانٍ

It has been narrated on the authority of Abn Huraira that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to dislike the Shikal horse. (Using translation from Muslim 1875a)  

أحمد:٧٤٠٨حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَلْمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَكْرَهُ الشِّكَالَ مِنَ الْخَيْلِ  

ahmad:7409Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Muḥammad b. ʿAjlān > al-Qaʿqāʿ b. Ḥakīm > Abū Ṣāliḥ > Abū Hurayrah

The Apostle of Allaah ( sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam ) as saying: I am like father to you. When any of you goes to privy, he should not face or turn his back towards the qiblah. He should not cleanse with his right hand. He (the Prophet, sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) also commanded the Muslims to use three stones and forbade them to use dung or decayed bone. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 8)   

أحمد:٧٤٠٩حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ حَدَّثَنِي الْقَعْقَاعُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا أَنَا لَكُمْ مِثْلُ الْوَالِدِ أُعَلِّمُكُمْ فَإِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلَاءَ فَلَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوهَا وَلَا تَسْتَدْبِرُوهَا وَلَا يَسْتَنْجِي بِيَمِينِهِ وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الرَّوَثِ وَالرِّمَّةِ

The Prophet ﷺ said: May Allah have mercy on a man who gets up at night and prays, and awakens his wife; if she refuses, he should sprinkle water on her face. May Allah have mercy on a woman who gets up at night and prays, and awakens her husband; if he refuses, she would sprinkle water on his face. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1308)  

أحمد:٧٤١٠حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ حَدَّثَنِي الْقَعْقَاعُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَحِمَ اللهُ رَجُلًا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّى وَأَيْقَظَ امْرَأَتَهُ فَصَلَّتْ فَإِنْ أَبَتْ نَضَحَ فِي وَجْهِهَا الْمَاءَ وَرَحِمَ اللهُ امْرَأَةً قَامَتْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّتْ وَأَيْقَظَتْ زَوْجَهَا فَصَلَّى فَإِنْ أَبَى نَضَحَتْ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْمَاءَ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade Gharar transaction sand Hasah transactions. " (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2194)   

أحمد:٧٤١١حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الْحَصَاةِ وَبَيْعِ الْغَرَرِ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were I not afraid that it would be hard on my followers, I would order them to use the siwak (as obligatory, for cleaning the teeth). (Using translation from Bukhārī 7240)  

أحمد:٧٤١٢حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الْوُضُوءِ وَلَأَخَّرْتُ الْعِشَاءَ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ

"Do not curse the wind, for it is from the mercy of Allah, bringing Rahmah (i.e., rain and breezes), or destruction. But ask Allah for its goodness, and seek refuge with Allah from its evil." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3727)   

أحمد:٧٤١٣حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي ثَابِتٌ الزُّرَقِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَسُبُّوا الرِّيحَ فَإِنَّهَا تَجِيءُ بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَالْعَذَابِ وَلَكِنْ سَلُوا اللهَ خَيْرَهَا وَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللهِ مِنْ شَرِّهَا

It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Hereafter to undertake a day's journey except in the company of a Mahram. (Using translation from Muslim 1339b)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ تُسَافِرُ يَوْمًا إِلَّا مَعَ ذِي مَحْرَمٍ

A prayer in my mosque is a thousand times more excellent than a prayer in any other mosque, except Masjid al-Haram (Mosque of the Ka'ba). (Using translation from Muslim 1394a)  

أحمد:٧٤١٥حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنِي ذَكْوَانُ أَبُو صَالِحٍ عَنْإِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَوْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ شَكَّ يَعْنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِي هَذَا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ أَلْفِ صَلَاةٍ فِيمَا سِوَاهُ إِلَّا الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ

"There are three, all of whom have a promise of help from Allah: 'The Mujahid who strives in the cause of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime; the man who gets married, seeking to keep himself chaste; and the slave who has a contract of manumission and wants to buy his freedom.'" أحمد:٧٤١٦حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ ثَلَاثٌ كُلُّهُمْ حَقٌّ عَلَىاللهِ عَوْنُهُ الْمُجَاهِدُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَالنَّاكِحُ الْمُسْتَعْفِفُ وَالْمُكَاتَبُ يُرِيدُ الْأَدَاءَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "My eyes sleep, but my heart does not sleep."

[Machine] A man asked, "How many times should I pour water on my head when performing ghusl (ritual purification) from janabah (sexual impurity)?" He responded, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pour water on his head three times." The man asked, "But what if I have a lot of hair?" He answered, "The hair of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was even more abundant and beautiful."

رَجُلٌ كَمْ يَكْفِي رَأْسِي فِي الْغُسْلِ مِنْ الْجَنَابَةِ؟ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَصُبُّ بِيَدِهِ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ثَلَاثًا قَالَ إِنَّ شَعْرِي كَثِيرٌ؟ قَالَ كَانَ شَعْرُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَكْثَرَ وَأَطْيَبَ
