4.5. ʿAbdullah b. al-ʿAbbās b. ʿAbdulmuṭṭalib (32/35)

٤.٥۔ مسند عبد الله بن العباس بن عبد المطلب، عن النبي ﷺ ص ٣٢

ahmad:3388Yaḥyá b. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Abū Ghaniyyah > al-ʿAwwām b. Ḥawshab > Saʾalt Mujāhid

[Machine] "Do you read this verse: 'And among his descendants were David and Solomon' and in its end 'So follow their guidance'? [Surah Al-An'am 90] He ﷺ said: Your Prophet ﷺ was commanded to follow the guidance of David."  

أحمد:٣٣٨٨حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي غَنِيَّةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَوَّامُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ مُجَاهِدًا عَنِ السَّجْدَةِ الَّتِي فِي ص فَقَالَ نَعَمْ سَأَلْتُ عَنْهَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ

أَتَقْرَأُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِ دَاوُدَ وَسُلَيْمَانَ} وَفِي آخِرِهَا {فَبِهُدَاهُمُ اقْتَدِهْ} [الأنعام 90] قَالَ أُمِرَ نَبِيُّكُمْ ﷺ أَنْ يَقْتَدِيَ بِدَاوُدَ

"I stayed overnight with my maternal aunt Maimunah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up to pray at night. I stood on his left, so he did this to me: He took me by the head and made me stand on his right." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 806)  

أحمد:٣٣٨٩حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

بِتُّ عِنْدَ خَالَتِي مَيْمُونَةَ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَقُمْتُ أُصَلِّي مَعَهُ فَقُمْتُ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ فَقَالَ لِي هَكَذَا فَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِي فَأَقَامَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ

[Machine] May Allah's peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. May Allah have mercy on the mother of Isma'il, if she hadn't hurried, Zamzam would have become a flowing spring.  

أحمد:٣٣٩٠حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ قَالَ أُنْبِئْتُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَجَاءَ الْمَلَكُ بِهَا حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى مَوْضِعِ زَمْزَمَ فَضَرَبَ بِعَقِبِهِ فَفَارَتْ عَيْنًا فَعَجِلَتِ الْإِنْسَانَةُ فَجَعَلَتْ تَقْدَحُ فِي شَنَّتِهَا فَقَالَ

رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَحِمَ اللهُ أُمَّ إِسْمَاعِيلَ لَوْلَا أَنَّهَا عَجِلَتْ لَكَانَتْزَمْزَمُ عَيْنًا مَعِينًا

[Machine] The translation of the given sentence is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to get a headache while fasting."  

أحمد:٣٣٩١حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ شَيْخٍ مِنْ بَنِي سَدُوسٍ قَالَ سُئِلَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ الْقُبْلَةِ لِلصَّائِمِ؟ فَقَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصِيبُ مِنَ الرُّءُوسِ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ

[Machine] Regarding Ibn Abbas, he mentioned it.  

أحمد:٣٣٩٢حَدَّثَنَاهُ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ

عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَذَكَرَهُ

[Machine] "If you see the new moon of Muharram, then count the days. And when you reach the ninth day, observe fasting. Yunus said, 'I was informed about the ruling that he (Prophet Muhammad) said, 'Did Muhammad ﷺ fast like this?' He said, 'Yes, indeed.'"  

أحمد:٣٣٩٣حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ الْأَعْرَجِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ

إِذَا رَأَيْتَ هِلَالَ الْمُحَرَّمِ فَاعْدُدْ فَإِذَا أَصْبَحْتَ مِنْ تَاسِعَةٍ فَأَصْبِحْ صَائِمًا قَالَ يُونُسُ فَأُنْبِئْتُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَكَذَاكَ صَامَ مُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ  

ahmad:3394Ismāʿīl And Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > ʿAwf > Saʿīd b. Abū al-Ḥasan > Ibn Jaʿfar > Saʿīd b. Abū al-Ḥasan

[Machine] I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever creates an image, Allah, the Almighty and Glorious, will punish him on the Day of Judgment until he gives life to it, and he will never be able to give life to it." A man then asked the Prophet, startled and his face turning pale, "What if it is only a small figure?" Ibn Abbas said to him, "Woe to you! If you insist on making something, then choose a tree or anything that does not have a soul in it."  

أحمد:٣٣٩٤حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ قَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ إِنِّي رَجُلٌ إِنَّمَا مَعِيشَتِي مِنْ صَنْعَةِ يَدِي وَإِنِّي أَصْنَعُ هَذِهِ التَّصَاوِيرَ؟ قَالَ فَإِنِّي لَا أُحَدِّثُكَ إِلَّا بِمَا

سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ صَوَّرَ صُورَةً فَإِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ مُعَذِّبُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّى يَنْفُخَ فِيهَا الرُّوحَوَلَيْسَ بِنَافِخٍ فِيهَا أَبَدًا قَالَ فَرَبَا لَهَا الرَّجُلُ رَبْوَةً شَدِيدَةً فَاصْفَرَّ وَجْهُهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَيْحَكَ إِنْ أَبَيْتَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَصْنَعَ فَعَلَيْكَ بِهَذَا الشَّجَرِ وَكُلِّ شَيْءٍ لَيْسَ فِيهِ رُوحٌ

[Machine] Ibn Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to get married, so we got married. The clothes were worn, the drums were played, and the women were married.  

أحمد:٣٣٩٥حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ قَالَ قَالَ

ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَحِلَّ فَحَلَلْنَا فَلُبِسَتِ الثِّيَابُ وَسَطَعَتِ الْمَجَامِرُ وَنُكِحَتِ النِّسَاءُ  

ahmad:3396Ismāʿīl > Layth

[Machine] "Peacock," said Ibn Abbas, "Verily, the Prophet ﷺ did not pray in it, but he faced its corners."  

أحمد:٣٣٩٦حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا لَيْثٌ قَالَ قَالَ

طَاوُسٌقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمْ يُصَلِّ فِيهِ وَلَكِنَّهُ اسْتَقْبَلَ زَوَايَاهُ  

ahmad:3397Ismāʿīl > Layth > Ṭāwus > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers while traveling and while residing.  

أحمد:٣٣٩٧حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ جَمَعَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْحَضَرِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allahﷺ broke his fast (ate Iftar) in Arafat, and Umm Al-Fadl sent him milk, which he drank.  

أحمد:٣٣٩٨حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

أَفْطَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِعَرَفَةَ وَبَعَثَتْ إِلَيْهِ أُمُّ الْفَضْلِ بِلَبَنٍ فَشَرِبَهُ  

ahmad:3399Ismāʿīl > Ayyūb > ʿIkrimah

[Machine] Ibn Abbas read to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what he was ordered to read and remained silent in what he was ordered to be silent. "And your Lord is never forgetful" [Surah Maryam: 64], and "Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example" [Surah Al-Ahzab: 21].  

أحمد:٣٣٩٩حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ قَالَ

ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِيمَا أُمِرَ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِيهِ وَسَكَتَ فِيمَا أُمِرَ أَنْ يَسْكُتَ فِيهِ {وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِيًّا} [مريم 64] وَ {لَقَدْ كَانَلَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ} [الأحزاب 21]

That the Messenger of Allah married Maimunah when they were both in Ihram. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2839)  

أحمد:٣٤٠٠حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَزَوَّجَ مَيْمُونَةَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ  

ahmad:3401Ismāʿīl > Ayyūb > ʿIkrimah > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Search for it during the last ten days, on the ninth night remaining, or the fifth night remaining, or the seventh night remaining."  

أحمد:٣٤٠١حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ فِي تَاسِعَةٍ تَبْقَى أَوْ خَامِسَةٍ تَبْقَى أَوْ سَابِعَةٍ تَبْقَى  

ahmad:3402Bahz > ʿAbd al-Wārith > al-Jaʿd Ṣāḥib al-Ḥilá Abū ʿUthmān > Abū Rajāʾ > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, narrating from his Lord, the Almighty and Majestic: "Verily, Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, has written down the good deeds and the bad deeds, and then made it clear. So whoever intends to do a good deed but does not do it, Allah records it as a complete good deed with Himself. And if he intends to do it and does it, Allah records it as ten good deeds up to seven hundred times or many times more. And if he intends to do a bad deed but does not do it, Allah records it as a complete good deed with Himself. And if he intends to do it and does it, Allah records it as one bad deed."  

أحمد:٣٤٠٢حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا الْجَعْدُ صَاحِبُ الْحِلَى أَبُو عُثْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو رَجَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِيمَا يَرْوِي عَنْ رَبِّهِ ﷻ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ كَتَبَ الْحَسَنَاتِ وَالسَّيِّئَاتِ ثُمَّ بَيَّنَ ذَلِكَ فَمَنْ هَمَّ بِحَسَنَةٍ فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا كَتَبَهَا اللهُ لَهُ عِنْدَهُ حَسَنَةً كَامِلَةً فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ عَشْرَ حَسَنَاتٍ إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلَى أَضْعَافٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَإِنْ هُوَ هَمَّ بِسَيِّئَةٍ فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا كَتَبَهَا اللهُ لَهُ عِنْدَهُ حَسَنَةً كَامِلَةً فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ سَيِّئَةً وَاحِدَةً  

ahmad:3403Bahz > Hammām > Qatādah > Yaḥyá b. Yaʿmar > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] That the Prophet, may peace be upon him, shook off the dust from his shoulder and then prayed without performing ablution.  

أحمد:٣٤٠٣حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمَرَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ انْتَهَسَ مِنْ كَتِفٍ ثُمَّ صَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ  

ahmad:3404Bahz > Hammām > Qatādah > ʿAzrah > Saʿīd b. Jubayr And ʿAbd al-Ṣamad > Hammām > Qatādah > Ṣāḥib Lah > Saʿīd b. Jubayr > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] Verily, the Prophet ﷺ used to recite in the Friday prayer the Surah Al-Jumu'ah (Friday) and Al-Munafiqun (The Hypocrites).  

أحمد:٣٤٠٤حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَزْرَةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ وَعَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ صَاحِبٍ لَهُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْجُمُعَةِ بِالْجُمُعَةِ وَالْمُنَافِقِينَ

[Machine] The translation of the given text into English is as follows: "Indeed, the husband of Barirah was a black slave called Mughith. I used to see him following her in the streets of Madinah, squeezing his eyes upon her. Then the Prophet ﷺ settled in regards to him with four rulings: he decreed that a person who frees a slave has the loyalty to choose for him or for her. He commanded her to adhere to that. Hammam, the freed slave woman, said: a set number of days. And he decreed that she must give charity on her behalf. So she gave some of it to Aisha, and she mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ . He said: it is charity for her, and we have a gift."  

أحمد:٣٤٠٥حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ أَخْبَرَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ زَوْجَ بَرِيرَةَ كَانَ عَبْدًا أَسْوَدَ يُسَمَّى مُغِيثًا وَكُنْتُ أَرَاهُ يَتْبَعُهَا فِي سِكَكِ الْمَدِينَةِ يَعْصِرُ عَيْنَيْهِ عَلَيْهَا قَالَ فَقَضَى فِيهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَرْبَعَ قَضِيَّاتٍ قَضَى أَنَّ الْوَلَاءَ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ وَخَيَّرَهَا وَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَعْتَدَّ قَالَ هَمَّامٌ مَرَّةً عِدَّةَ الْحُرَّةِ قَالَ وَتُصُدِّقَ عَلَيْهَا بِصَدَقَةٍ فَأَهْدَتْ مِنْهَا إِلَى عَائِشَةَ فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ هُوَ عَلَيْهَا صَدَقَةٌ وَلَنَا هَدِيَّةٌ  

ahmad:3406Bahz > Abān b. Yazīd al-ʿAṭṭār > Qatādah > Saʿīd b. al-Musayyib > ʿIkrimah > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] A delegation from the tribe of Abd al-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , among them was al-Ashajj, the brother of Banu Asar. They said, "O Prophet of Allah, we are not from the tribe of Rabi'ah and there are unbelievers from the tribe of Mudhar between us and you. We can only come to you during the sacred month. So, give us a command by which if we act upon it, we will enter Paradise and call those after us to it." He ordered them with four things and prohibited them from four things. He ordered them to worship Allah alone and not associate anything with Him, to fast during Ramadan, to perform Hajj to the Kaaba, and to give one-fifth of the spoils of war. He prohibited them from four things - drinking from wineskins, bladder, jug, and cup. They asked, "In what shall we drink then, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Drink from the leather water container that has been tied."  

أحمد:٣٤٠٦حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْعَطَّارُ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ وَعَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ وَفْدَ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِيهِمُ الْأَشَجُّ أَخُو بَنِي عَصَرٍ فَقَالُوا يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنَّا حَيٌّ مِنْ رَبِيعَةَ وَإِنَّ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ كُفَّارَ مُضَرَ وَإِنَّا لَا نَصِلُ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا فِي الشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ فَمُرْنَا بِأَمْرٍ إِذَا عَمِلْنَا بِهِ دَخَلْنَا الْجَنَّةَ وَنَدْعُو بِهِ مَنْ وَرَاءَنَا؟ فَأَمَرَهُمْ بِأَرْبَعٍ وَنَهَاهُمْ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ أَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوا اللهَ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَأَنْ يَصُومُوا رَمَضَانَ وَأَنْيَحُجُّوا الْبَيْتَ وَأَنْ يُعْطُوا الْخُمُسَ مِنَ الْمَغَانِمِ وَنَهَاهُمْ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ عَنِ الشُّرْبِ فِي الْحَنْتَمِ وَالدُّبَّاءِ وَالنَّقِيرِ وَالْمُزَفَّتِ فَقَالُوا فَفِيمَ نَشْرَبُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ عَلَيْكُمْ بِأَسْقِيَةِ الْأَدَمِ الَّتِي يُلَاثُ عَلَى أَفْوَاهِهَا  

ahmad:3407ʿAffān > Abān > Qatādah > Saʿīd b. al-Musayyib > Ibn ʿAbbās And ʿIkrimah > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] The delegation of Abd al-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , among them was Al-Ashajj, the brother of Bani Asar, and he mentioned his meaning.  

أحمد:٣٤٠٧حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يَذْكُرُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ وَفْدَ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِيهِمُ الْأَشَجُّ أَخُو بَنِي عَصَرٍ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "A prayer (rak'ah) in the last part of the night." I asked Abdullah ibn Abbas, and he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'A prayer (rak'ah) in the last part of the night.'"  

أحمد:٣٤٠٨حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وحَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ عَفَّانُ أَخْبَرَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَبِي مِجْلَزٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنِ الْوَتْرِ فَقَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ رَكْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ وَسَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ رَكْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ

"The Messenger of Allah died when his shield was in pledge with a Jew for thirty Sa's of barley for his family (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4651)   

أحمد:٣٤٠٩حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَدِرْعُهُ مَرْهُونَةٌ عِنْدَ يَهُودِيٍّ بِثَلَاثِينَ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ أَخَذَهُ طَعَامًا لِأَهْلِهِ  

ahmad:3410Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > ʿAwf b. Abū Jamīlah > Yazīd al-Fārisī

[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a dream during the time of Ibn Abbas. He said, 'Yazid used to write the Qur'an.' I said to Ibn Abbas, 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a dream.' Ibn Abbas replied, 'If you saw me, then you have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Can you describe the man you saw?' I said, 'Yes, I saw a man between two men, his body and flesh were a mixture of brown and white, with a beautiful smile, dark eyelashes, and a beautiful, full face. His beard filled from one end to another, almost covering his throat.' Awf said, 'I don't know how to describe him further.' Ibn Abbas said, 'If you saw him while awake, you wouldn't be able to describe him beyond this.'"  

أحمد:٣٤١٠حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفُ بْنُ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ الْفَارِسِيِّ قَالَ

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي النَّوْمِ زَمَنَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ وَكَانَ يَزِيدُ يَكْتُبُ الْمَصَاحِفَ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي النَّوْمِ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَتَشَبَّهَ بِي فَمَنْ رَآنِي فِي النَّوْمِ فَقَدْ رَآنِي فَهَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَنْعَتَ لَنَا هَذَا الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي رَأَيْتَ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا بَيْنَ الرَّجُلَيْنِ جِسْمُهُ وَلَحْمُهُ أَسْمَرُ إِلَىالْبَيَاضِ حَسَنُ الْمَضْحَكِ أَكْحَلُ الْعَيْنَيْنِ جَمِيلُ دَوَائِرِ الْوَجْهِ قَدْ مَلَأَتْ لِحْيَتُهُ مِنْ هَذِهِ إِلَى هَذِهِ حَتَّى كَادَتْ تَمْلَأُ نَحْرَهُ قَالَ عَوْفٌ لَا أَدْرِي مَا كَانَ مَعَ هَذَا مِنَ النَّعْتِ قَالَ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ لَوْ رَأَيْتَهُ فِي الْيَقَظَةِ مَا اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَنْعَتَهُ فَوْقَ هَذَا

"We used to travel with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ between Makkah and Al-Madinah, fearing nothing but Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, and praying two rak'ahs." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1436)   

أحمد:٣٤١١حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ سِرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ لَا نَخَافُ إِلَّا اللهَ ﷻ نُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ  

ahmad:3412Isḥāq b. Yūsuf > Sufyān > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUthmān > Saʿīd b. Jubayrʿan Ibn ʿAbbās

"The Messenger of Allah married Maimunah bint Al-Harith when he was a Muhrim." According to the Hadith of Ya'la (one of the narrators): "In Sarif." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3271)

تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ got married while in a state of ihram.  

أحمد:٣٤١٣حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ  

ahmad:3414Isḥāq > Sufyān > Abū Isḥāq > al-Tamīmī > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] The translation into English is as follows: "Indeed, when the Prophet (Peace be upon him) used to prostrate, the whiteness of his armpits could be seen while he was in prostration."  

أحمد:٣٤١٤حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ التَّمِيمِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا سَجَدَ يُرَى بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ وَهُوَ سَاجِدٌ  

ahmad:3415Abū Muʿāwiyah > Ḥajjāj > al-Ḥakam > Miqsam > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ freed on the day of Ta'if whoever from the slaves of the polytheists went to him.  

أحمد:٣٤١٥حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

أَعْتَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الطَّائِفِ مَنْ خَرَجَ إلَيْهِ مِنْ رَقِيقِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ  

ahmad:3416Muʿtamir > Salm > some companions > Saʿīd b. Jubayr > Ibn ʿAbbās

The Prophet ﷺ said: There is no prostitution in Islam. If anyone practised prostitution in pre-Islamic times, the child will be attributed to the master (of the slave-woman). He who claims his child without a valid marriage or ownership will neither inherit nor be inherited. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2264)  

أحمد:٣٤١٦حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ عَنْ سَلْمٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا مُسَاعَاةَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ مَنْ سَاعَى فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَقَدْ أَلْحَقْتُهُ بِعَصَبَتِهِ وَمَنِ ادَّعَى وَلَدَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِ رِشْدَةٍ فَلَا يَرِثُ وَلَا يُورَثُ  

ahmad:3417Abū Muʿāwiyah > al-Aʿmash > Ḥabīb > Saʿīd b. Jubayr > Ibn ʿAbbās

If we were not in a state of Ihram, we would have accepted it from you. (Using translation from Muslim 1194a)  

أحمد:٣٤١٧حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ حَبِيبٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

أَهْدَى الصَّعْبُ بْنُ جَثَّامَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ فَرَدَّهُ وَقَالَ لَوْلَا أَنَّا مُحْرِمُونَ لَقَبِلْنَاهُ مِنْكَ  

ahmad:3418Ibn Numayr > Ḥajjāj b. Arṭāh > Ḥusayn b. ʿAbdullāh > ʿIkrimah > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted wearing a dyed garment as long as there is no fringes or trimming on it.  

أحمد:٣٤١٨حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْمَصْبُوغِ مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ نَفْضٌ وَلَا رَدْعٌ  

ahmad:3419Ḥammād b. Usāmah > al-Aʿmash > ʿAbbād b. Jaʿfar > Saʿīd b. Jubayr > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] Then Abu Talib sent (a message) to him, and the place of Abu Talib was at the position of a man. He feared that if the Prophet ﷺ entered upon his uncle, he would be humbled for him. So, he jumped up and sat in that gathering. When the Prophet ﷺ entered, he did not find any gathering except at the door, so he sat. Then Abu Talib said, "O son of my brother, indeed your people complain about you, they claim that you insult their gods and say and do such and such." The Prophet ﷺ said, "O uncle, I only want them to declare that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and by this statement, the Arabs will be united, and the non-Arabs will pay the jizyah to them." They said, "And what is it?" He said, "Yes, and your father will get ten." He said, "There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah." They stood up while shaking their clothes and saying, "Will he make the gods one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." [Quran 38:5] He said, "Then he recited until he reached, 'When they taste the punishment...'" [Quran 38:8]  

أحمد:٣٤١٩حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ أُسَامَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْأَعْمَشَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ لَمَّا مَرِضَ أَبُو طَالِبٍ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ رَهْطٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ مِنْهُمْ أَبُو جَهْلٍ فَقَالُوا يَا أَبَا طَالِبٍ ابْنُ أَخِيكَ يَشْتِمُ آلِهَتَنَا يَقُولُ وَيَقُولُ وَيَفْعَلُ وَيَفْعَلُ فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَيْهِ فَانْهَهُ قَالَ

فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو طَالِبٍ وَكَانَ قُرْبَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ مَوْضِعُ رَجُلٍ فَخَشِيَ إِنْ دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى عَمِّهِ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَرَقَّ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ فَوَثَبَ فَجَلَسَ فِي ذَلِكَ الْمَجْلِسِ فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَمْ يَجِدْ مَجْلِسًا إِلَّا عِنْدَ الْبَابِ فَجَلَسَ فَقَالَ أَبُو طَالِبٍ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي إِنَّ قَوْمَكَ يَشْكُونَكَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّكَ تَشْتُمُ آلِهَتَهُمْ وَتَقُولُ وَتَقُولُ وَتَفْعَلُ وَتَفْعَلُ فَقَالَ يَا عَمِّ إِنِّي إِنَّمَا أُرِيدُهُمْ عَلَى كَلِمَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ تَدِينُ لَهُمْ بِهَا الْعَرَبُ وَتُؤَدِّي إِلَيْهِمْ بِهَا الْعَجَمُ الْجِزْيَةَ قَالُوا وَمَا هِيَ؟ نَعَمْ وَأَبِيكَ عَشْرًا قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ قَالَ فَقَامُوا وَهُمْيَنْفُضُونَ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَقُولُونَ {أَجَعَلَ الْآلِهَةَ إِلَهًا وَاحِدًا إِنَّ هَذَا لَشَيْءٌ عُجَابٌ} [ص 5] قَالَ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ {لَمَّا يَذُوقُوا عَذَابِ} [ص 8]  

ahmad:3420Ibn Numayr > al-Aʿmash > Muslim al-Baṭīn > Saʿīd b. Jubayr > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] From the Prophet (PBUH) who said, "A woman came to him and said, 'Indeed, my mother has passed away and she had missed a month of fasting. Can I fast on her behalf?' He said, 'Would you have paid off her debt if she had one?' She replied, 'Yes.' He then said, 'Indeed, the debt owed to Allah is more deserving to be paid off.'"  

أحمد:٣٤٢٠حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صَوْمُ شَهْرٍ فَأَقْضِيهِ عَنْهَا قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَكِ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهَا دَيْنٌ كُنْتِ تَقْضِينَهُ؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَدَيْنُ اللهِ ﷻ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُقْضَى  

ahmad:3421Ibn Numayr > Mālik / Ibn Anas > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Faḍl > Nāfiʿ b. Jubayr > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A widow has a greater right over herself than her guardian, and a virgin seeks permission for herself, and her silence is her acceptance.  

أحمد:٣٤٢١حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَنَسٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْأَيِّمُ أَوْلَى بِنَفْسِهَا مِنْ وَلِيِّهَا وَالْبِكْرُ تُسْتَأْمَرُ فِي نَفْسِهَا وَصَمْتُهَا إِقْرَارُهَا  

ahmad:3422Yaʿlá And Muḥammad al-Maʿná > al-Aʿmash > Abū Ẓabyān > Ibn ʿAbbās > Ay al-Qirāʾatayn Taʿuddūn Awwal > Qirāʾah ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] Which recitation do you consider to be the first? They said the recitation of Abdullah. He said, no, rather it is the "Akhirah" (the last recitation). The Quran used to be presented to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once every year. But in the year in which he died, it was presented to him twice. Abdullah witnessed this and knew what was abrogated from it and what was substituted.  

أحمد:٣٤٢٢حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى وَمُحَمَّدٌ الْمَعْنَى قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي ظَبْيَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

أَيُّ الْقِرَاءَتَيْنِ تَعُدُّونَ أَوَّلَ؟ قَالُوا قِرَاءَةَ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ لَا بَلْ هِيَ الْآخِرَةُ كَانَ يُعْرَضُ الْقُرْآنُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ مَرَّةً فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْعَامُ الَّذِي قُبِضَ فِيهِ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ فَشَهِدَهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ فَعَلِمَ مَا نُسِخَ مِنْهُ وَمَا بُدِّلَ  

ahmad:3423Yaʿlá > Ḥajjāj al-Ṣawwāf > Yaḥyá > ʿIkrimah > Ibn ʿAbbās

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave judgment about the slave who had made an agreement to purchase his freedom (mukatab) and he had been killed that blood-wit is paid for him at the rate paid for a free man so far as he has paid the purchase money, and at the rate paid for a slave as the remainder is concerned. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4581)   

أحمد:٣٤٢٣حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ الصَّوَّافُ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَضَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْمُكَاتِبِ يُقْتَلُ يُودَى لِمَا أَدَّى مِنْ مُكَاتَبَتِهِ دِيَةَ الْحُرِّ وَمَا بَقِيَ دِيَةَ الْعَبْدِ  

ahmad:3424Yaʿlá > Ḥajjāj al-Ṣawwāf > Yaḥyá > ʿIkrimah

[Machine] "O Abu Saad, where did you come from?" he asked. Abu Saad replied, "I came from the presence of the Commander of the Faithful, and I spoke to him about a certain matter." He said, "For this hadith to be true is more beloved to me than possessing the red camels." Then he said, "Share it with the people." Abu Saad said, "I heard Ibn Abbas saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Any Muslim who has two daughters and treats them kindly, they will be a means for him to enter Paradise.'"  

أحمد:٣٤٢٤حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ الصَّوَّافُ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَمَرَّ شَيْخٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ شُرَحْبِيلُ أَبُو سَعْدٍ فَقَالَ

يَا أَبَا سَعْدٍ مِنْ أَيْنَ جِئْتَ؟ فَقَالَ مِنْ عِنْدِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَدَّثْتُهُ بِحَدِيثٍ فَقَالَ لَأَنْ يَكُونَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ حَقًّا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِي حُمْرُ النَّعَمِ قَالَ حَدِّثْ بِهِ الْقَوْمَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ تُدْرِكُ لَهُ ابْنَتَانِ فَيُحْسِنُ إِلَيْهِمَا مَا صَحِبَتَاهُ أَوْ صَحِبَهُمَا إِلَّا أَدْخَلَتَاهُ الْجَنَّةَ  

ahmad:3425Abū Kāmil > Ibrāhīm b. Saʿd > Ibn Shihāb > ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUtbah > Ibn ʿAbbās

Ibn 'Abbas reported that Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the most generous of people in charity, but he was generous to the utmost in the month of Ramadan. Gabriel (peace be upon him) would meet him every year during the month of Ramadin until it ended, and Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited to him the Qur'an; and when Gabriel met him Messenger of Allah ﷺ was most generous in giving charity like the blowing wind. كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَجْوَدَ النَّاسِ بِالْخَيْرِ وَكَانَ أَجْوَدَ مَا يَكُونُ فِي رَمَضَانَ حِينَ يَلْقَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ وَكَانَ يَلْقَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ فِي رَمَضَانَ حَتَّى يَنْسَلِخَ يَعْرِضُ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْقُرْآنَ فَإِذَا لَقِيَهُ جِبْرِيلُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَجْوَدَ بِالْخَيْرِ مِنَ الرِّيحِ الْمُرْسَلَةِ

The Prophet ﷺ said: Wear your white garments, for they are among your best garments, and shroud your dead in them. Among the best types of collyrium you use is antimony (ithmid): it clears the vision and makes the hair sprout. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3878)  

أحمد:٣٤٢٦حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ وَعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمَعْنَى عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْبَسُوا مِنْ ثِيَابِكُمُ الْبَيَاضَ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ وَإِنَّ خَيْرَ أَكْحَالِكُمُ الْإِثْمِدُ إِنَّهُ يُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ وَيَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ

[Machine] I wrote to Ibn Abbas, and he wrote back to me stating, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Verily, the right of the defendant is upon the claimant, even if people were given according to their claims, some people would claim the property and blood of others.'"  

أحمد:٣٤٢٧حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ قَالَ

كَتَبْتُ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الْيَمِينَ عَلَى الْمُدَّعَى عَلَيْهِ وَلَوْ أُعْطِيَ النَّاسُ بِدَعْوَاهُمْ لَادَّعَى أُنَاسٌ أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ وَدِمَاءَهُمْ

The Prophet ﷺ said about a man who has sexual intercourse with a menstruating woman: He should give one or half dinar as sadaqah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2168)   

أحمد:٣٤٢٨حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءٌ الْعَطَّارُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي الرَّجُلِ يَأْتِي امْرَأَتَهُ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ قَالَ يَتَصَدَّقُ بِدِينَارٍ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَنِصْفِ دِينَارٍ  

ahmad:3429Abū Kāmil And ʿAffān > Ḥammād > Abū Jamrah > ʿAffān > Abū Jamrah > Ibn ʿAbbās

Ibn 'Abbas reported that Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed in Mecca for thirteen years (after he had received revelation) and stayed in Medina for ten years, and he was sixty-three when he died. (Using translation from Muslim 2351b)

أَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَكَّةَ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً وَبِالْمَدِينَةِ عَشْرًا يُوحَى إِلَيْهِ وَمَاتَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً

“If I had not embraced it, it would have continued to grieve until the Day of Resurrection.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1415)   

أحمد:٣٤٣٠حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ وَيُونُسُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ إِلَى جِذْعٍ فَلَمَّا صُنِعَ الْمِنْبَرُ فَتَحَوَّلَ إِلَيْهِ حَنَّ الْجِذْعُ فَأَتَاهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَاحْتَضَنَهُ فَسَكَنَوَقَالَ لَوْ لَمْ أَحْتَضِنْهُ لَحَنَّ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to deliver his sermons by the trunk of a palm tree and mention its significance.  

أحمد:٣٤٣٢حَدَّثَنَاهُ الْخُزَاعِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ إِلَى جِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ perspired heavily, then he prayed without touching water.  

أحمد:٣٤٣٣حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

تَعَرَّقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَظْمًا ثُمَّ صَلَّى وَلَمْ يَمَسَّ مَاءً  

ahmad:3434Muḥammad b. Salamah > Ibn Isḥāq > Dāwud b. Ḥuṣayn > ʿIkrimah

[Machine] "When the sons of Nadir would kill a person from the tribe of Qurayzah, they would pay them half of the blood money. And when the sons of Qurayzah would kill a person from the tribe of Nadir, they would pay them the full blood money. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ settled the blood money between them."  

أحمد:٣٤٣٤حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

فِي قَوْلِهِ ﷻ {فَإِنْ جَاءُوكَ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ أَوْ أَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَإِنْ تُعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ فَلَنْ يَضُرُّوكَ شَيْئًا وَإِنْ حَكَمْتَ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِالْقِسْطِ إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ} قَالَ كَانَ بَنُو النَّضِيرِ إِذَا قَتَلُوا قَتِيلًا مِنْ بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ أَدَّوْا إِلَيْهِمْ نِصْفَ الدِّيَةِ وَإِذَا قَتَلَ بَنُو قُرَيْظَةَ مِنْ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ قَتِيلًا أَدَّوْا إِلَيْهِمُ الدِّيَةَ كَامِلَةً فَسَوَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنهُمُ الدِّيَةَ  

ahmad:3435Marwān b. Shujāʿ > Khuṣayf > ʿIkrimah And Mujāhid Waʿaṭāʾ

(that the Prophet said): "The women in past-natal bleeding and menses were to perform Ghusl, enter Ihram and carry out all of the rites except for Tawaf around the House, until they becomes clean." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 945)   

أحمد:٣٤٣٥حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ حَدَّثَنِي خُصَيْفٌ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ وَمُجَاهِدٍ وَعَطَاءٍ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ النُّفَسَاءَ وَالْحَائِضَ تَغْتَسِلُ وَتُحْرِمُ وَتَقْضِي الْمَنَاسِكَ كُلَّهَا غَيْرَ أَنْ لَا تَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى تَطْهُرَ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to prostrate in Sujood.

[Machine] I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ , then I stood to his left side. He took hold of me and placed me on his right side. Ibn Abbas said, "I was ten years old at that time."  

أحمد:٣٤٣٧حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ أَخْبَرَنَا رِشْدِينُ بْنُ كُرَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقُمْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَأَخَذَنِي فَأَقَامَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ قَالَ وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَأَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ ابْنُ عَشْرِ سِنِينَ
