The Companions of the Prophet ﷺ said: Messenger of Allah ﷺ we eat but we are not satisfied. He said: Perhaps you eat separately. They replied: Yes. He said: If you gather together at your food and mention Allah's name, you will be blessed in it. Abu Dawud said: If you are invited to a wedding feast before you, do not take it until the owner of the house (i.e. the host) allows you (to eat).

أبو داود:٣٧٦٤ – حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى الرَّازِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي وَحْشِيُّ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ

أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا نَأْكُلُ وَلاَ نَشْبَعُ قَالَ فَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَفْتَرِقُونَ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ فَاجْتَمِعُوا عَلَى طَعَامِكُمْ وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ يُبَارَكْ لَكُمْ فِيهِ

قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ إِذَا كُنْتَ فِي وَلِيمَةٍ فَوُضِعَ الْعَشَاءُ فَلاَ تَأْكُلْ حَتَّى يَأْذَنَ لَكَ صَاحِبُ الدَّارِ

عَنْ جَدِّهِ وَحْشِيٍّ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا نَأْكُلُ وَلاَ نَشْبَعُ قَالَ فَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَأْكُلُونَ مُتَفَرِّقِينَ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ فَاجْتَمِعُوا عَلَى طَعَامِكُمْ وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ يُبَارَكْ لَكُمْ فِيهِ

ahmad:16078 – Yazīd b. ʿAbd Rabbih > al-Walīd b. Muslim > And Ḥshī b. Ḥarb from his father from his grandfather > a man > Lilnnabī ﷺ Innā Naʾkul Wamā Nashbaʿ

“O Messenger of Allah, we eat and do not feel full.” He said: “Perhaps you eat separately?” They said: “Yes.” He said: “Gather to eat together, and mention the Name of Allah over it, then it will be blessed for you.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3286)

[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, indeed we eat and do not feel satiated." He said, "Perhaps you separate from your food, come together upon it, and mention the name of Allah, so that He may bless it for you." We brought this narration as a witness.

الحاكم:٢٥٠٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حَمْدَانَ الْجَلَّابُ ثنا أَبُو حَاتِمٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ وَحْشِيِّ بْنِ حَرْبِ بْنِ وَحْشِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ وَحْشِيِّ بْنِ حَرْبٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا نَأْكُلُ وَمَا نَشْبَعُ قَالَ «فَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَفْتَرِقُونَ عَنْ طَعَامِكُمْ اجْتَمِعُوا عَلَيْهِ وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ يُبَارَكْ لَكُمْ» أخرجناه شاهدا

ذِكْرُ الْأَمْرِ بِالِاجْتِمَاعِ عَلَى الطَّعَامِ رَجَاءَ الْبَرَكَةِ فِي الِاجْتِمَاعِ عَلَيْهِ

[Machine] They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we eat but do not feel satisfied." He said, "Do you gather together for your food or eat separately?" They replied, "We eat separately." He said, "Gather together for your food and invoke the name of Allah, and He will bless it for you."

ابن حبّان:٥٢٢٤ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ الدُّورِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ وَحْشِيِّ بْنِ حَرْبِ بْنِ وَحْشِيِّ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ وَحْشِيٍّ قَالَ

قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا نَأْكُلُ وَلَا نَشْبَعُ قَالَ «تَجْتَمِعُونَ عَلَى طَعَامِكُمْ أَوْ تَتَفَرَّقُونَ؟ » قَالُوا نَتَفَرَّقُ قَالَ « اجْتَمِعُوا عَلَى طَعَامِكُمْ وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ يُبَارَكْ لَكُمْ»

الطبراني:١٨٦٦٢ – حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُعَلَّى الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ الْأَهْوَازِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَا ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ثنا وَحْشِيُّ بْنُ حَرْبِ بْنِ وَحْشِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ

أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا نَأْكُلُ فَلَا نَشْبَعُ قَالَ «فَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَفْتَرِقُونَ» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَاجْتَمِعُوا عَلَى طَعَامِكُمْ وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ يُبَارَكْ لَكُمْ فِيهِ»
