The poor man(miskin) is not one who is admitted (by the people) with one or two dates or with one or two morsels but is one, who does not beg anything from his people and is not taken notice of so that alms may be given to him.  

أبو داود:١٦٣١حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ وَالأُكْلَةُ وَالأُكْلَتَانِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الَّذِي لاَ يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ شَيْئًا وَلاَ يَفْطِنُونَ بِهِ فَيُعْطُونَهُ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The poor person is not the one who asks a morsel or two (of meals) from the others, but the poor is the one who has nothing and is ashamed to beg from others."

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The poor person is not the one who goes round the people and ask them for a mouthful or two (of meals) or a date or two but the poor is that who has not enough (money) to satisfy his needs and whose condition is not known to others, that others may give him something in charity, and who does not beg of people."

[Machine] I heard Abu Qasim ﷺ say, "The truly needy person is not the one who is given a few dates, or two dates, or a mouthful of food, or two mouthfuls. Rather, the truly needy person is the one who cannot find enough to sustain themselves and does not ask people insistently."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The poor person is not the one who goes around begging people for a date or two, or a morsel of food. Rather, the true poor person is the one who is self-restrained, who does not ask people for anything, and whose poverty is not noticed by others so that they may give charity to him."  

أحمد:٣٦٣٦حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْهَجَرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالطَّوَّافِ وَلَا بِالَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَلَا التَّمْرَتَانِ وَلَا اللُّقْمَةُ وَلَا اللُّقْمَتَانِ وَلَكِنِ الْمِسْكِينُ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ الَّذِي لَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُفْطَنُ لَهُ فَيُتَصَدَّقَ عَلَيْهِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The true poor person is not the one who is given a date or two dates, or a meal or two meals, but rather the true poor person is the one who does not have enough to meet his needs and his need is not known, so he is given charity. This is the one who is deprived."  

ابن حبّان:٣٣٥١أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ
