ذِكْرُ اسْتِحْبَابِ الْإِيثَارِ بِالصَّدَقَةِ مَنْ لَا يُعْلَمُ بِحَاجَتِهِ وَلَا غِنَاهُ عَنْهَا

ibnhibban:3351 – al-Faḍl b. al-Ḥubāb > Musaddad b. Musarhad > ʿAbd al-Wāḥid b. Ziyād > Maʿmar > al-Zuhrī > Abū Salamah > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The true poor person is not the one who is given a date or two dates, or a meal or two meals, but rather the true poor person is the one who does not have enough to meet his needs and his need is not known, so he is given charity. This is the one who is deprived."  

ابن حبّان:٣٣٥١ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ وَالْأَكْلَةُ وَالْأَكْلَتَانِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ مَا يَسْتَغْنِي بِهِ وَلَا يُعْلَمُ بِحَاجَتِهِ فَيُتَصَدَّقُ عَلَيْهِ فَذَلِكَ الْمَحْرُومُ»

"The poor man (Miskin) is not the one who leaves if you give him a morsel or two, or a date or two." They said: "Then who is the Miskin, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "The one who does not possess independence of means, and the people do not know of his need, so that they could give him charity."

abudawud:1631 – ʿUthmān b. Abū Shaybah And Zuhayr b. Ḥarb > Jarīr > al-Aʿmash > Abū Ṣāliḥ > Abū Hurayrah

The poor man(miskin) is not one who is admitted (by the people) with one or two dates or with one or two morsels but is one, who does not beg anything from his people and is not taken notice of so that alms may be given to him.  

أبو داود:١٦٣١ – حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ وَالأُكْلَةُ وَالأُكْلَتَانِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الَّذِي لاَ يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ شَيْئًا وَلاَ يَفْطِنُونَ بِهِ فَيُعْطُونَهُ  

ahmad:10067 – ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Ḥammād > Muḥammad b. Ziyād > Abū Hurayrah > Abū al-Qāsim ﷺ

[Machine] I heard Abu Qasim ﷺ say, "The truly needy person is not the one who is given a few dates, or two dates, or a mouthful of food, or two mouthfuls. Rather, the truly needy person is the one who cannot find enough to sustain themselves and does not ask people insistently."  

أحمد:١٠٠٦٧ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالطَّوَّافِ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ وَالْأُكْلَةُ وَالْأُكْلَتَانِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الَّذِي لَا يَجِدُ غِنًى يُغْنِيهِ وَلَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا
