He used to recite in them:" Qaf. By the Glorious Qur'an" (Surah 1)," The Hour drew near, and the moon was rent asunder" (Surah liv.).

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ سَأَلَ أَبَا وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيَّ مَا كَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الأَضْحَى وَالْفِطْرِ فَقَالَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِيهِمَا بِ { ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ} وَ { اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ}

'Umar b. Khattab asked me what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited on 'Id day. I said:" The Hour drew near" and Qaf. By the Glorious Qur'an".

سَأَلَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ عَمَّا قَرَأَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمِ الْعِيدِ فَقُلْتُ بِ { اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ} وَ { ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ}

'Umar b. al-Khattab asked Abu Waqid al-Laithi: What did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recite during the prayer on the day of sacrifice and on the breaking of the fast ? He replied: He recited at both of them Surah al-Qaf, "By the Glorious Quran" [50] and the Surah "The Hour is nigh" (54).

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ سَأَلَ أَبَا وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيَّ مَاذَا كَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الأَضْحَى وَالْفِطْرِ قَالَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِيهِمَا { ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ } وَ { اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ }

[AI] Omar ibn Al-Khattab asked Abu Waqid Al-Laythi what the Prophet Muhammad, ﷺ , used to recite during Eid. He replied, "He used to recite 'Qaf' and 'Iqtarabat'."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Damra ibn Said al-Mazini from Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utba ibn Masud that Umar ibn al-Khattab asked Abu Waqid al-Laythi what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the prayers of Adha and Fitr. He said, "He used to recite Qaf (Sura 50) and al-lnshiqaq (Sura84)."

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ سَأَلَ أَبَا وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيَّ مَا كَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الأَضْحَى وَالْفِطْرِ فَقَالَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِ ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ وَ اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ

"Umar bin Al-Khattab asked Abu Waqid Al-Laithi what Messenger of Allah would recite during Al-Fitr and Al-Adha, so he said: 'He would recite: Qaf, By the Glorious Quran and the Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 534)

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ سَأَلَ أَبَا وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيَّ مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفِطْرِ وَالْأَضْحَى؟ قَالَ «كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ بِ ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ وَاقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرَ»

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed prayer with the people on the days of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. He began the prayer by making seven takbirs (saying Allahu Akbar) in the first rakah, then recited Surah Al-Qamar and Surah Al-Majid. In the second rakah, he made five takbirs and recited Surah Al-Qamar. The hour has drawn near and the moon has split."

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ وَالْأَضْحَى فَكَبَّرَ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى سَبْعًا وَقَرَأَ ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ خَمْسًا وَقَرَأَ اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ»

'Umar b. al-Khattab asked Abu Waqid al-Laithi: What did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recite during the prayer on the day of sacrifice and on the breaking of the fast ?
