from his father who said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Blessed are the tribes of Al-Asad and Al-Ash'arun, they flee not from fighting nor do they pilfer the spoils of war. They are from me and I am from them.'" He ('Amir) said: "So I narrated that to Mu'awiyah, and he said: "This is not how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said it, he said: 'They are from me, and for me.' I said, this is not how my father narrated it to me, rather he narrated to me, saying: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "They are from me and I am from them.'" So he said: 'Then you are more knowledgeable of your father's Hadith.'"  

الترمذي:٣٩٤٧حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَلاَذٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ نُمَيْرِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مَسْرُوحٍ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ أَبِي عَامِرٍ الأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ نِعْمَ الْحَىُّ الأَسْدُ وَالأَشْعَرُونَ لاَ يَفِرُّونَ فِي الْقِتَالِ وَلاَ يَغُلُّونَ هُمْ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُمْ قَالَ فَحَدَّثْتُ بِذَلِكَ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقَالَ لَيْسَ هَكَذَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ هُمْ مِنِّي وَإِلَىَّ فَقُلْتُ لَيْسَ هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَلَكِنَّهُ حَدَّثَنِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ هُمْ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُمْ قَالَ فَأَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِحَدِيثِ أَبِيكَ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ وَهْبِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ وَيُقَالُ الأَسْدُ هُمُ الأَزْدُ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best of people are the Asad (lion) and the Ash'ariyun (a tribe known for their bravery) in battle. They do not run away nor do they show excessive boldness. They are from me and I am from them." 'Amir then narrated this to Mu'awiyah who said, "It is not as you have said. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'They are from me and to me.' " 'Amir replied, "That is not what my father narrated to me from the Prophet ﷺ . He said, 'They are from me and I am from them.'" Mu'awiyah then said, "In that case, you would know better about the narration of your father." 'Abdullah said, "This is one of the most reliable narrations, as only Jarir has narrated it."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ نِعْمَ الْحَيُّ الْأُسْدُ وَالْأَشْعَرِيُّونَ لَا يَفِرُّونَ فِي الْقِتَالِ وَلَا يَغُلُّونَ هُمْ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُمْ قَالَعَامِرٌ فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهِ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقَالَ لَيْسَ هَكَذَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَكِنَّهُ قَالَ هُمْ مِنِّي وَإِلَيَّ فَقَالَ لَيْسَ هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَلَكِنَّهُ قَالَ هُمْ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُمْ قَالَ فَأَنْتَ إِذًا أَعْلَمُ بِحَدِيثِ أَبِيكَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ هَذَا مِنْ أَجْوَدِ الْحَدِيثِ مَا رَوَاهُ إِلَّا جَرِيرٌ

'Amir said, I reported this to Mu'awiya who said, "He did not say that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ actually said, "They are from me and to me." I said, "That is not how my father reported it from the Prophet ﷺ , rather he said, "They are from me and I am from them." He said, "In that case, you know your father's narration better."

الحاكم:٢٦١٦أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَهْدِيِّ بْنِ رُسْتُمَ ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ ثنا أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَلَاذٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ نُمَيْرِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مَسْرُوحٍ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ أَبِي عَامِرٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «نِعْمَ الْحَيُّ الْأَسَدُ وَالْأَشْعَرِيُّونَ لَا يَفِرُّونَ فِي الْقِتَالِ وَلَا يُخَلُّونَ هُمْ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُمْ» قَالَ فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهِ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقَالَ لَيْسَ هَكَذَا إِنَّمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «هُمْ مِنِّي وَإِلَيَّ» فَقُلْتُ لَيْسَ هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَلَكِنَّهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «هُمْ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُمْ» قَالَ فَأَنْتَ إِذًا أَعْلَمُ بِحَدِيثِ أَبِيكَ  

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» صحيح
