The Prophet ﷺ comforts Safiyyah ᴿᴬ after  Hafsah ᴿᴬ remark about her Jewish lineage

tirmidhi:3894 – Isḥāq b. Manṣūr And ʿAbd b. Ḥumayd > ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Maʿmar > Thābit > Anas

It reached Safiyyah that Hafsah had said, “Daughter of a Jew.” So she wept. Then the Prophet ﷺ entered upon her while she was weeping and said, “What is making you weep?” She said, “Hafsah said to me that I am the daughter of a Jew.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “You are indeed the daughter of a prophet, your uncle is indeed a prophet, and you are indeed married to a prophet—so in what does she take pride over you?” Then he said, “Fear Allah, O Hafsah.”

Abū ʿĪsá said that this Ḥadīth is Ḥasan-Ṣaḥīḥ-Gharīb in this particular context.

الترمذي:٣٨٩٤ – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ قَالاَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

بَلَغَ صَفِيَّةَ أَنَّ حَفْصَةَ قَالَتْ: بِنْتُ يَهُودِيٍّ. فَبَكَتْ. فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهِيَ تَبْكِي، فَقَالَ: «مَا يُبْكِيكِ؟». فَقَالَتْ: قَالَتْ لِي حَفْصَةُ إِنِّي بِنْتُ يَهُودِيٍّ. فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: «إِنَّكِ لَابْنَةُ نَبِيٍّ، وَإِنَّ عَمَّكِ لَنَبِيٌّ، وَإِنَّكِ لَتَحْتَ نَبِيٍّ، فَفِيمَ تَفْخَرُ عَلَيْكِ؟». ثُمَّ قَالَ: «اتَّقِي اللَّهَ يَا حَفْصَةُ».

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ
