[Machine] I and my companion went to Salman Al-Farsi, and Salman said, "If the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had not prohibited us from unnecessary expenses, I would have incurred expenses for you, and then he brought bread and meat." My companion said, "If we had salt, you would have sent your flask to get it." Then Salman sent his utensil and pledged it, and then he brought salt. When we ate it, my companion said, "Praise be to Allah who has blessed us with what He has provided us." Salman said, "If you were content with what Allah has provided you, my utensil would not have been pledged."

[Machine] I entered with my friend to Salman, so he brought us bread and salt, and he said, "If it were not for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding us from luxury, I would have prepared more for you." Then my friend said, "If we had some salt, I would have mortgaged it to the butcher and brought it." So he sent his ewer to the butcher and pawned it, and he came back with some salt and threw it in the food. When we finished eating, my friend said, "All praise is due to Allah who has satisfied us with what He has provided for us." Salman then said, "If you had been satisfied with what you were given, my ewer would not have been pawned at the butcher's."
