[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "My mother has passed away and she did not leave a will or give charity. Will it be accepted if I give charity on her behalf?" He said: "Yes." I asked: "Will it benefit her?" He said: "Yes, even if it is the leg of a roasted sheep."  

الطبراني:٥٣٨٠ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا أَبُو زُهَيْرٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَغْرَاءَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كُرَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ قَالَ

جِئْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ تُوُفِّيَتْ أُمِّي وَلَمْ تُوصِ وَلَمْ تَصَدَّقْ فَهَلْ تُقْبَلُ إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قَالَ فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهَا ذَلِكَ قَالَ «نَعَمْ وَلَوْ بِكُرَاعِ شَاةٍ مُحْتَرِقٍ»

"عَنْ سَعْدِ بْن عُبَادَةَ قَالَ: جئْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ: تُوُفِّيتْ أُمِّى وَلَمْ تُوصِ، فهل يُغْنِى عَنْها إنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا؟ فَقالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ : وَلَوْ بِكُرَاعٍ (* * *) مُحْرَقٍ".
