[Machine] Qutham ibn al-Abbas was asked, "How did Ali inherit from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before you?" He said, "Indeed, he was the first among us to grasp knowledge and the most severe of us in thirst for it."  

الطبراني:١٦١٩٧ – حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُعَافَى بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا زُهَيْرٌ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ

قِيلَ لِقُثَمَ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ كَيْفَ وَرِثَ عَلِيٌّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دُونَكُمْ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّهُ كَانَ أَوَّلَنَا بِهِ لُحُوقًا وَأَشَدَّنَا بِهِ لُزُوقًا»

" عَنْ أَبِى إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: قِيلَ لِقُثَم: كَيْفَ وَرِثَ عَلِىٌّ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ دُونَكُمْ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّهُ كَانَ أَوَّلَنَا لُحُوقًا، وَأَشَدَّنَا به لُزُوقًا".
