[Machine] In a boy of his, his father left him with the condition that if he becomes capable, he will cut off part of him or his hand. He became capable, so he set out in a frenzy to 'Imran and asked him about it. 'Imran informed him about his father's statement and said, "Tell your father to expiate his oath or free his slave, and not to cut off part of him. For the Prophet of Allah, ﷺ , used to urge giving in his sermons and prohibit self-mutilation." Then it is narrated that he came to Samurah ibn Jundub and said something similar to what 'Imran said.

[Machine] Indeed, my father has vowed that if he is capable over his son, he will either cut off a portion from him or cut off his hand. So say to your father, he should expiate for his oath and not cut off any portion from him. Verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to emphasize in his sermons about charity and prohibit mutilation. Then, he came to Samurah ibn Jundub and said the same to him.
