قَيْسُ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ

tabarani:15097 – ʿAbdān b. Aḥmad > ʿUthmān b. Abū Shaybah > Jarīr > Bayān > Qays > ʿUqbah b. ʿĀmir

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Some verses were revealed to me tonight, the likes of which have never been seen: "Say: I seek refuge with (Allah), the Lord of the daybreak." [Surat al-Falaq:1] and "Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of mankind." [Surat an-Naas:1]' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 954)  

الطبراني:١٥٠٩٧ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ بَيَانٍ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيَّ اللَّيْلَةَ آيَاتٌ لَمْ يُرَ مِثْلَهُنَّ قَطُّ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ»

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed me that Gabriel said to him, 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak', so I said it. Then he said, 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind', so I said it. And we say what the Prophet ﷺ said."  

أحمد:٢١١٨٦ – حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ إِنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ كَانَ لَا يَكْتُبُ الْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ فِي مُصْحَفِهِ فَقَالَ أَشْهَدُ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ قَالَ لَهُ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ فَقُلْتُهَا فَقَالَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ فَقُلْتُهَا فَنَحْنُ نَقُولُ مَا قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ  

ذِكْرُ الْإِخْبَارِ عَمَّا يُسْتَحَبُّ لِلْمَرْءِ قِرَاءَةُ الْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ فِي أَسْبَابِهِ

ibnhibban:797 – ʿImrān b. Mūsá b. Mujāshiʿ > Hudbah b. Khālid > Ḥammād b. Salamah > ʿĀṣim > Zir

[Machine] I said to Ubayy ibn Ka'b, "Indeed, Ibn Mas'ud does not write the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) in his mushaf (copy of the Quran)." He replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, 'Gabriel said to me: "Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak.'" So I said it, and Gabriel said to me, 'Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.'" So I said it.' Therefore, we say what the Messenger of Allah said."  

ابن حبّان:٧٩٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ قَالَ

قُلْتُ لِأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ إِنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ لَا يَكْتُبُ فِي مُصْحَفِهِ الْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قَالَ لِي جِبْرِيلُ {قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ} فَقُلْتُهَا وَقَالَ لِي {قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ} فَقُلْتُهَا» فَنَحْنُ نَقُولُ مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ
