[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade naming a dog or Kulayb.  

الطبراني:١١٦٣ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا أَبُو الشَّعْثَاءِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ غُرَابٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّ يُسَمَّى كَلْبٌ أَوْ كُلَيْبٌ»

“We were with Talhah bin ‘Ubaidullah ؓ and we were in ihram. We were given a bird as a gift whilst Talhah was sleeping. Some of us ate and some of us refrained and did not eat. When Talhah woke up, he approved of those who had eaten it and said: “We ate it with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 1383)  

الدارمي:١٨٧١ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ فِي سَفَرٍ فَأُهْدِيَ لَهُ طَيْرٌ وَهُمْ مُحْرِمُونَ وَهُوَ رَاقِدٌ فَمِنَّا مَنْ أَكَلَ وَمِنَّا مَنْ تَوَرَّعَ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ طَلْحَةُ فَأَخْبَرُوهُ فَوَافََقَ مَنْ أَكَلَهُ

وَقَالَ «أَكَلْنَاهُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ»  

ذِكْرُ خَبَرٍ قَدْ يُوهِمُ عَالَمًا مِنَ النَّاسِ أَنَّ ابْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ هَذَا الْخَبَرِ مِنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ
