Aisha said: Messenger of Allah! All my fellow-wives have kunyahs? He said: Give yourself the kunyah by Abdullah, your son - that is to say, her nephew (her sister's son). Musaddad said: Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr. She was called by the kunyah Umm Abdullah. Abu Dawud said: Qurran b. Tammam and Ma'mar all have transmitted it from Hisham in a similar manner. It has also been transmitted by Abu Usamah from Hisham, from 'Abbad b. Hamzah. Similarly, Hammad b. Salamah and Maslamah b. Qa'nab have narrated it from Hisham, like the tradition transmitted by Abu Usamah.

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كُلُّ صَوَاحِبِي لَهُنَّ كُنًى قَالَ فَاكْتَنِي بِابْنِكِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أُخْتِهَا قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ فَكَانَتْ تُكَنَّى بِأُمِّ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

[AI] I brought the Prophet ﷺ the son of Zubair and he gently touched his cheek with a date and said, "This is Abdullah, and you are the mother of Abdullah."

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ فَحَنَّكَهُ بِتَمْرَةٍ وَقَالَ هَذَا عَبْدُ اللهِ وَأَنْتِ أُمُّ عَبْدِ اللهِ

[AI] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, each of your wives has a nickname except me." He said, "Then you shall be called by the name of your son, Abdullah."

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كُلُّ نِسَائِكَ لَهَا كُنْيَةٌغَيْرِي قَالَ فَتَكَنَّيْ بِابْنِكِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

[AI] She said, "O Messenger of Allah, all my companions have a kunya except for me." He said, "Then you will be called the mother of Abdullah ibn Zubayr." So she was called the mother of Abdullah until she died.

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كُلُّ صَوَاحِبِي لَهَا كُنْيَةٌ غَيْرِي قَالَ فَاكْتَنِي بِابْنِكِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ فَكَانَتْ تُدْعَى بِأُمِّ عَبْدِ اللهِ حَتَّى مَاتَتْ

[AI] She said, "O Messenger of Allah, would you not marry me?" He said, "Marry my son, Abdullah bin Al-Zubair." So, she was referred to as the mother of Abdullah.

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَا تُكَنِّينِي؟ قَالَ «اكْتَنِّي بِابْنِكِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ» فَكَانَتْ تُكَنَّى أُمَّ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

[AI] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, every one of my female companions has a nickname, so if you were to nickname me." He said, "Then I nickname you with the name of your son, Abdullah ibn Zubayr." And she continued to be nicknamed Umm Abdullah until she passed away.

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لِكُلِّ صَوَاحِبَاتِي كُنًى فَلَوْ كَنَّيْتَنِي قَالَ «فَاكْتَنِي بِابْنِكِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ» وَكَانَتْ تُكَنَّى أُمَّ عَبْدِ اللهِ حَتَّى مَاتَتْ

[AI] She said, "O Messenger of Allah, do not you call me by a nickname like all of your wives?" He said, "Yes, call yourself the mother of Abdullah." So she was called the mother of Abdullah.

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا تُكَنِّينِي فَكُلُّ نِسَائِكَ لَهَا كُنْيَةٌ؟ قَالَ «بَلَى اكْتَنِي بِابْنِكِ عَبْدِ اللهِ» فَكَانَتْ تُكَنَّى أُمَّ عَبْدِ اللهِ

[AI] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, do all your wives have a kunyah other than me?" He said, "Take the kunyah of your son Abdullah ibn Zubayr." So she was called the mother of Abdullah until she died.
