When the Prophet ﷺ saw a cloud formation in the sky, he left work, even if he were at prayer, and then would say: "O Allah! I seek refuge in Thee from its evil. " If it rained, he would say: "O Allah! send a beneficial downpour."
“Allahumma inna na’udhu bika min sharri ma ursila bihi (O Allah, we seek refuge with You from the evil of that with which it is sent).” Then if it rained he would say: “Allahumma sayyiban nafi’an (O Allah, a beneficial rain),” two or three times. And if Allah dispelled it and it did not rain, he would praise Allah for that.

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, whenever he saw a flash of lightning from the horizons of the sky, he would leave his work, even if he was in the middle of his prayer. Then he would say, 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil it contains. If You remove it, praise be to Allah, and if it continues, he would say, 'O Allah, send down beneficial rain.'"
