"عَنْ أَبِى الدَّرْداءِ قَالَ أَوْصَانِى خَلِيلِي أَبُو القَاسِمِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَنْفِقْ مِنْ طَوْلِكَ عَلى أَهْلِكَ وَلَا تَرْفَعْ عَصَاكَ عَنْهُمْ، أَخِفْهُمْ لله تعالى".

adab:18Muhammad b. Abd al-Aziz > Abd al-Malik b. al-Khattab b. Ubayd Allah b. Abu Bakrah al-Basri > Rashid Abu Muhammad > Shahr b. Hawshab > Umm al-Darda' > Abu al-Darda'

Abu al-Darda said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recommended nine things to me: (1) Do not associate anything with Allah, even if you are cut to pieces or burned. (2) Do not abandon a prescribed prayer deliberately, for anyone who abandons it will forfeit Allah's protection. (3) Do not drink wine for it is the key to every evil. (4) Obey your parents. If they command you to abandon your worldly possessions, then leave those for them. (5) Do not contend with those in power, even if you think that you are in the right. (6) Do not run away from the army when it advances, even if you are killed while your companions run away. (7) Spend on your wife out of your means. (8) Do not lift ˹away˺ the stick against from your wife. (9) Cause your family to fear Allah, the Almighty and Exalted.'"
