Verily, a man would perform the deeds of the people of Paradise for a long time, then his deeds would be concluded with the deeds of the people of Hell. And verily, a man would perform the deeds of the people of Hell for a long time, and then his deeds would be concluded with the deeds of the people of Paradise.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ الزَّمَنَ الطَّوِيلَ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ثُمَّ يُخْتَمُ لَهُ عَمَلُهُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ الزَّمَنَ الطَّوِيلَ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ ثُمَّ يُخْتَمُ لَهُ عَمَلُهُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ

Sahl b. Sa'd reported it from Messenger of Allah ﷺ that a person performs deeds like the deeds of the people of Paradise apparently before people and he would be amongst the dwellers of Hell and a person acts apparently like the people of Hell, but (in fact) he would be among the dwellers of Paradise.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ عَمَلَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فِيمَا يَبْدُو لِلنَّاسِ وَهُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ عَمَلَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فِيمَا يَبْدُو لِلنَّاسِ وَهُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ

[AI] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said: Verily, a person performs the actions of the people of Paradise until he is only a forearm's length away from Paradise, but then the decree overcomes him and he performs the actions of the people of Hellfire and thus enters it. And verily, a person performs the actions of the people of Hellfire until he is only a forearm's length away from Hellfire, but then the decree overcomes him and he performs the actions of the people of Paradise and thus enters it."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ الْبُرْهَةَ مِنْ عُمُرِهِ بِالْعَمَلِ الَّذِي لَوْ مَاتَ عَلَيْهِ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ فَإِذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ تَحَوَّلَ فَعَمِلَ عَمَلَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَمَاتَ فَدَخَلَ النَّارَ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ الْبُرْهَةَ مِنْ عُمُرِهِ بِالْعَمَلِ الَّذِي لَوْ مَاتَ عَلَيْهِ دَخَلَ النَّارَ فَإِذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ تَحَوَّلَ فَعَمِلَ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَمَاتَ فَدَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, a person may perform the actions of the people of the Fire, while he is from the people of Paradise. And verily, a person may perform the actions of the people of Paradise, while he is from the people of the Fire. Indeed, actions are judged by their endings."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَإِنَّهُ لَمِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّهُ لَمِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَإِنَّمَا الْأَعْمَالُ بِالْخَوَاتِيمِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Indeed, a man may perform the deeds of the people of Paradise, and yet he is written in the record as being of the people of Hell. Then, before his death, he changes and performs the deeds of the people of Hell, so he dies while being among them, and enters Hell. And indeed, a man may perform the deeds of the people of Hell, and yet he is written in the record as being of the people of Paradise. Then, before his death, he changes and performs the deeds of the people of Paradise, so he dies while being among them, and enters Paradise.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّهُ لَمَكْتُوبٌ فِي الْكِتَابِ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَإِذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ تَحَوَّلَ فَعَمِلَ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَمَاتَ فَدَخَلَ النَّارَ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَإِنَّهُ لَمَكْتُوبٌ فِي الْكِتَابِ مِنْأَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَإِذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ تَحَوَّلَ فَعَمِلَ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَمَاتَ فَدَخَلَهَا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, a person may perform the deeds of the people of the Hellfire and be written with Allah ﷻ as one of the people of Paradise. And a person may perform the deeds of the people of Paradise and be written with Allah ﷻ as one of the people of the Hellfire."

أَنَّ النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَالَ لا عَلَيْكُمْ أَوْ كَلِمَةً نَحْوَهَا أَنْ تُعْجَبُوا بِأَحَدٍ أَوْ بِعَمَلِ أَحَدٍ حَتَّى تَنْظُرُوا بِمَ يُخْتَمُ لَهُ؟ فَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَعْمَلُ الْبُرْهَةَ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ الْعَمَلَ الَّذِي لَوْ مَاتَ عَلَيْهِ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ ثُمَّ يَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَإن الْعَبْدَ لَيَعْمَلُ الْبُرْهَةَ مِنْ دَهْرِهِ بِالْعَمَلِ الَّذِي لَوْ مَاتَ عَلَيْهِ دَخَلَ النَّارَ ثُمَّ يَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, a person may do deeds that appear to people as the actions of the people of Paradise, while he is from the people of Hellfire. And indeed, a person may do deeds that appear to people as the actions of the people of Hellfire, while he is from the people of Paradise. Verily, actions are judged by their outcomes."

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, a person may do actions that appear to people as the actions of the people of Paradise, while in reality, he is from the people of Hell. "إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ عَمَلَ الْجَنَّةِ - فيمَا يَبْدوُ للنَّاسِ - وَهْوَ مِنْ أهْلِ النَّار، وَإنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ عَمَلَ أهْلِ النَّارِ - فيِمَا يَبْدُو للنَّاسِ - وَهُوَ مِنْ أهلِ الْجَنَّة".

"إِنَّ الرَّجلَ لَيعمَلُ بعَمَلِ أهْل الْجَنَّة، وَإِنَّه لَمِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ، وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَل أهْلِ النَّارِ، وَإِنَّهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ، تُدْركُهُ الشِّقْوَةُ، أو السَّعَادَةُ عنْدَ خُرُوجِ نَفَسه فَيخْتَمُ لَهُ بها".

"إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَعْمَلُ عَمَل أهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فيمَا يَرَى النَّاسُ وَإنَّهُ لَمنْ أهْلِ النَّارِ، وَإِنَّهُ لَيَعْمَلُ عَمَلَ أهْلِ النَّارِ فِيمَا يَرَى النَّاسُ، وإنَّه لمَنْ أهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ، وإنَّمَا الأَعْمَالُ بالْخَواتِيم" وفي لَفْظ: "بِخَواتِيمَها".

"عَنْ عَلِىًّ قَالَ: إِيَّاكُمْ وَالاسْتِنَانَ بِالرِّجَالِ، فَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الجَنَّةِ الزَّمَنَ الطَّوِيلَ حَتَّى لَوْ مَاتَ لَقُلْتَ: إِنَّهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ثُمَّ يَنْقَلِبُ لِعِلْمِ الله فِيهِ فَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَيمُوتُ وَهُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَيَنْقَلِبُ لِعِلْمِ الله فِيهِ فَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَل أَهْلِ الجَنَّةِ فَيَمُوتُ وَهُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الجَنَّةِ، فَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ لَا بُدَّ فَاعِلِينَ فَبِالأَمْوَاتِ لَا بِالأَحْيَاءِ".
