He complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a pain he had been feeling in his body since he embraced Islam. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Place your hand on the part of your body that hurts and say:

"bismillāhi", three times, and say, "aʿūdhu billāhi wa-qudratihī min sharri mā ajidu wa-uḥādhiru", seven times

("In the name of Allah" three times, then say, "I seek refuge with Allah and His power from the evil of what I find and fear.", seven times.

أَنَّهُ شَكَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَجَعًا يَجِدُهُ فِي جَسَدِهِ مُنْذُ أَسْلَمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ضَعْ يَدَكَ عَلَى الَّذِي تَأَلَّمَ مِنْ جَسَدِكَ وَقُلْ:

(بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ ثَلاَثًا وَقُلْ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ)

I came to the Prophet ﷺ and I was suffering pain that was killing me. The Prophet ﷺ said to me: "Put your right hand on it and say:

bismillāh, aʿūdhu bi-ʿizzati allāhi wa-qudratihī min sharri ma ajidu wa-uḥādhiru.

(In the Name of Allah, I seek refuge in the might and power of Allah from the evil of what I feel and what I fear),

seven times." I said that, and Allah healed me.

أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَدِمْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَبِي وَجَعٌ قَدْ كَادَ يُبْطِلُنِي فَقَالَ لِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اجْعَلْ يَدَكَ الْيُمْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَقُلْ:

(بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ)

سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ فَقُلْتُ ذَلِكَ فَشَفَانِيَ اللَّهُ

[AI] "He informed him that Uthman ibn Abi Al-Aas came to the Prophet ﷺ while suffering from a severe pain that almost nullified him. He mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ , who claimed that the Prophet ﷺ said to him, 'Place your right hand on the affected area and wipe it seven times, and say, "I seek refuge in the greatness and power of Allah from the evil I find in each wipe."'"

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ قَدِمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَقَدْ أَخَذَهُ وَجَعٌ قَدْ كَادَ يُبْطِلُهُ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَهُ ضَعْ يَمِينَكَ عَلَى مَكَانِكَ الَّذِي تَشْتَكِي فَامْسَحْ بِهَا سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ فِي كُلِّ مَسْحَةٍ

[AI] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was in pain, so he said, "Place your right hand on the affected area and say 'In the name of Allah, I seek refuge in the might and power of Allah from the evil of what I am experiencing' seven times." So I did as he instructed and Allah (glory be to Him) sufficed me.

قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَبِي وَجَعٌ فَقَالَ اجْعَلْ يَدَكَ الْيُمْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قُلْ بِسْمِ اللهِ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ فَفَعَلْتُ فَكَفَانِي اللهُ ﷻ

[AI] He complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of a pain, so he said, "Whoever feels pain, let him place his right hand on it and mention the name of Allah three times, and let him say, 'I seek refuge in the might and power of Allah from the evil that I feel, and I seek protection seven times."

أَنَّهُ شَكَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَمًا فَقَالَ أَيُّكُمْ وَجَدَ أَلَمًا فَلْيَضَعْ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَلْيَذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ

[AI] He informed him that Uthman ibn Abi al-'As had come to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he was suffering from a pain which almost paralyzed him. So he mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Put your right hand on the place where you are feeling pain and wipe it seven times, and say: 'I seek refuge in the might and power of Allah from the evil of what I find in every wipe.'"

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ قَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ أَخَذَهُ وَجَعٌ وَكَادَ يُبْطِلُهُ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ ضَعْ يَمِينَكَ عَلَى الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي تَشْتَكِي فَامْسَحْ بِهَا سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ فِي كُلِّ مَسْحَةٍ

[AI] He told him that Uthman ibn Abi al-As had come to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and he had taken him and was in severe pain, almost fainting, so he mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he claimed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Place your right hand on the place where you feel pain and wipe it seven times, saying, 'I seek refuge in the might and power of Allah from the evil that I feel at each time.'"

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ قَدِمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَقَدْ أَخَذَهُ وَجِعٌ كَادَ يُبَطِّطُهُ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ ضَعْ يَمِينَكَ عَلَى مَكَانِكَ الَّذِي تَشْتَكِي فَامْسَحْ بِهِ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ فِي كُلِّ مَرَّةٍ

He mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , who claimed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Put your right hand on the place where you feel pain, then wipe it seven times and say, 'I seek refuge in the might of Allah and in His power from the evil that I find in every wipe.'" The wording is from Abu Salih.

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِي قَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ أَخَذَهُ وَجَعٌ قَدْ كَادَ يُبْطِلُهُ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ ضَعْ يَمِينَكَ عَلَى الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي تَشْتَكِي فَامْسَحْ بِهِ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ فِي كُلِّ مَسْحَةٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي صَالِحٍ

"أَيُّكُمْ وَجَدَ أَلَمًا فَليَضعْ يَدَهُ اليُمْنى عَلَيه، وَليذْكُر اسْمَ الله ثَلاثَ مرَّات وليَقلْ: أَعُوذ بعِزة اللهِ وَقُدرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أجدُ وأُحَاذرُ سَبع مَرَّات ".

"ضَعْ يدكَ عَلَى الذِى تَألمُ مِنْ جسدِكَ، وقلْ: باسْم الله - ثَلاثًا - وقُلْ سَبْعَ مرات: أَعُوذُ بِالله وقُدَرتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ ما أَجِدُ وأُحاذِر".

"ضعْ يمِينكَ علَى الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي تَشْتَكِى، فَافسَح بِهَا سَبْعَ مرَّاتٍ وقل: أعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ الله وَقُدْرتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ - في كُلِّ مَسْحَة".

"قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَبِى وَجَعٌ هُوَ قد كاد يُبْطِلُنى، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ : اجْعَلْ يَدَكَ الْيُمْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قُلْ: بِسْمِ اللهِ، أَعُوذُ بِعزَّةِ اللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ سَبْعَ مَراتٍ، فَفَعَلْتُ، فَشَفَانِى اللهُ - ﷻ -".
